Multicolor Photodetector of a Single Er3+-Doped CdS Nanoribbon
Er3+-doped CdS nanoribbons (Er-CdS NRs) are synthesized by thermal evaporation and then characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), photoluminescence (PL), and absorption spectra. The Er-CdS NR photodetector is studied systematically, including spectral response, light intensity response, and photoconductance (G) versus temperature (T). It is found that Er-CdS NR has the ability of detecting multicolor light including blue, red, and near-infrared light with higher responsivity (R-lambda) and external quantum efficiency (eta). The conductance of Er-CdS NR under dark conditions decreases with increasing temperature in the range of 87-237 K, while its conductance increases with increasing temperature in the range of 237-297 K when T is larger than 237 K. These results indicated that ionized impurities and the intrinsic excitation are responsible for the conductance change of Er-CdS NR in the dark. The superior performance of the Er-CdS NR device offers an avenue to develop highly sensitive multicolor photodetector applications.National Natural Science Foundation [11164034]; Yunnan Province Natural Science Foundation [2010DC053]; Key Applied Basic Research Program of Science Technology Commission Foundation of Yunnan Province [2013FA035]; Innovative Talents of Science and Technology Plan Projects of Yunnan Province [2012HA007]SCI(E)[email protected]; [email protected]
Radiative transitions in charmonium from twisted mass lattice QCD
We present a study for charmonium radiative transitions:
, and
using twisted mass lattice QCD gauge
configurations. The single-quark vector form factors for and
are also determined. The simulation is performed at a lattice
spacing of fm and the lattice size is . After
extrapolation of lattice data at nonzero to 0, we compare our results
with previous quenched lattice results and the available experimental values.Comment: typeset with revtex, 15 pages, 11 figures, 4 table
Detach and Adapt: Learning Cross-Domain Disentangled Deep Representation
While representation learning aims to derive interpretable features for
describing visual data, representation disentanglement further results in such
features so that particular image attributes can be identified and manipulated.
However, one cannot easily address this task without observing ground truth
annotation for the training data. To address this problem, we propose a novel
deep learning model of Cross-Domain Representation Disentangler (CDRD). By
observing fully annotated source-domain data and unlabeled target-domain data
of interest, our model bridges the information across data domains and
transfers the attribute information accordingly. Thus, cross-domain joint
feature disentanglement and adaptation can be jointly performed. In the
experiments, we provide qualitative results to verify our disentanglement
capability. Moreover, we further confirm that our model can be applied for
solving classification tasks of unsupervised domain adaptation, and performs
favorably against state-of-the-art image disentanglement and translation
methods.Comment: CVPR 2018 Spotligh
Gust alleviation of a large aircraft with a passive Twist Wingtip
This paper presents an investigation into the gust response and wing structure load alleviation of a 200-seater aircraft by employing a passive twist wingtip (PTWT). The research was divided into three stages. The first stage was the design and analysis of the baseline aircraft, including aerodynamic analysis, structural design using the finite element (FE) method and flutter analysis to meet the design requirements. Dynamic response analysis of the aircraft to discrete (one-cosin) gust was also performed in a range of gust radiances specified in the airworthiness standards. In the second stage, a PTWT of a length of 1.13 m was designed with the key parameters determined based on design constraints and, in particular, the aeroelastic stability and gust response. Subsequent gust response analysis was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of the PTWT for gust alleviation. The results show that the PTWT produced a significant reduction of gust-induced wingtip deflection by 21% and the bending moment at the wing root by 14% in the most critical flight case. In the third stage, effort was made to study the interaction and influence of the PTWT on the symmetric and unsymmetrical manoeuvring of the aircraft when ailerons were in operation. The results show the that PTWT influence with a reduction of the aircraft normal velocity and heave motion by 1.7% and 3%, respectively, is negligible. However, the PTWT influence on the aircraft roll moment with a 20.5% reduction is significant. A locking system is therefore required in such a manoeuvring condition. The investigation has shown that the PTWT is an effective means for gust alleviation and, therefore, has potential for large aircraft application
IPS Observation System for Miyun 50m Radio Telescope and Its Acceptance Observation
Ground-based observation of Interplanetary Scintillation(IPS) is an important
approach of monitoring solar wind. A ground-based IPS observation system is
newly implemented on 50m radio telescope, Miyun station, National Astronomical
Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences(NAOC). This observation system is
constructed for purpose of observing the solar wind speed and scintillation
index by using the normalized cross-spectrum of simultaneous dual-frequency IPS
measurement. The system consists of a universal dual-frequency front-end and a
dual-channel multi-function back-end specially designed for IPS. After careful
calibration and testing, IPS observations on source 3C273B and 3C279 are
successfully carried out. The preliminary observation results show that this
newly developed observation system is capable of doing IPS observation. The
system sensitivity for IPS observation can reach over 0.3Jy in terms of IPS
polarization correlator with 4MHz bandwidth and 2s integration time.Comment: 8 pages, 7 figure
Effectiveness and safety of Wuling capsule for post stroke depression: A systematic review
SummaryObjectiveTo review the effectiveness and safety of Wuling capsule for post stroke depression (PSD) systematically.MethodsWe searched electronic databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared either Wuling capsule with placebo, no treatment or Wuling capsule plus conventional treatment with conventional treatment alone in adults with post stroke depression. Relevant resources were also retrieved. Two reviewers screened the citations, assessed the risk of bias and extracted data independently.ResultsA total of 16 studies involving 1378 patients were identified for this review. There were 3 trials comparing Wuling capsule with no treatment control and 13 trials comparing Wuling capsule plus conventional treatment (Deanxit, Fluoxetine, Sertraline, Paroxetine or Citalopram) with conventional treatment alone. Meta-analyses indicated Wuling capsule used alone or integrated with conventional treatment was effective for PSD in terms of HAMD (Hamilton depression scale) scores, response rate and with less adverse effects, of which, HAMD scores decreased significantly in favor of Wuling capsule from onset time to 1 week (SMD=1.27, 95%CI: 0.71–1.83, P<0.00001), 2 weeks (SMD=1.45, 95%CI: 0.57–2.33, P=0.001), 4 weeks (SMD=2.84, 95%CI: 2.15–3.52, P<0.00001), 6 weeks (SMD=2.70, 95%CI: 2.15–3.24, P<0.00001), and 8 weeks (SMD=4.53, 95%CI: 3.55–5.50, P<0.00001) and overall effect (SMD=2.40, 95%CI: 1.75–3.05, P<0.00001) (SMD=standardized mean difference).ConclusionWuling capsule appeared to present certain antidepressant effect compared to no treatment control. With a combination of several Western medicines, Wuling capsule could be helpful in strengthening efficacy and reducing the incidence of adverse events as an alternative choice in the treatment of PSD. However, due to the limited number of included trials and relatively moderate methodological quality in the majority of studies, further large scale and rigorously designed trials are warranted to confirm the effectiveness and safety of Wuling capsule for post stroke depression
Does the Law of One Price hold? A cross-regional study of China
This study considers the price convergence in different regions of
China, which is the largest developing country in the world and a
country in which the regional difference is much larger between
provinces. Whether there is price convergence between regions in one
country is an important economic issue according to the Law of One
Price (LOP) theory. Compared to previous studies, this article operates
with the Sequential Panel Selection Method (SPSM) to explore the
non-stationary properties of the LOP in China’s regions. We provide
robust evidence to specify that the LOP holds true for two-thirds of
the provinces in China, mainly in the Western and Central regions. This
means that the Eastern region’s price fluctuation is non-stationary
and that the consumer price index (CPI) levels of the Western, Central
and Northeastern regions are relatively convergent in China. The
conduction path of the CPI level is from the Eastern region to the other
regions. It shows that prices can converge with each other by LOP and
the values of the same goods in the Western and Central regions are
equal and if there is a price difference, then it can be eliminated by
interregional trade
Energy and labor aware production scheduling for industrial demand response using adaptive multi-objective memetic algorithm
Price-based demand response stimulates factories to adapt their power consumption patterns to time-sensitive electricity prices to reduce cost. This paper introduces a multi-objective optimization model which schedules job processing, machine idle modes, and human workers under real-time electricity pricing. Beyond existing models, labor is considered due to the trade-off between energy and labor costs. An adaptive multi-objective memetic algorithm is proposed to leverage feedback of cross-dominance and stagnation in a search and a prioritized grouping strategy. Thus, adaptive balance remains between exploration of the NSGA-II and exploitation of two mutually complementary local search operators. A case study of an extrusion blow molding process in a plastic bottle manufacturer demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the algorithm. The proposed scheduling method enables intelligent production systems, where production loads and human workers are mutually matched and jointly adapted to real-time electricity pricing for cost-efficient production
