Zinc oxide single crystals: Temperature and radiation effect on firmness and plasticity

    No full text
Mechanical properties of bulk ZnO single crystals are studied depending on crystallographic orientation, temperature and radiation. The shapes of the indenter prints and dislocation rosettes were analyzed for the faces of monohedron (0001), hexagonal prisms {10 1\overline{1}0}, {11 2\overline{2}0}, and pyramid {10 1\overline{1}1}. For {1ˉ\bar{1}0 1\overline{1}0} plane, the fracture toughness coefficient K1C_{1\rm C} was found to be K1C_{1\rm C}{\sim}0.09 MPa m1/2^{1/2}, Young modulus E = 47.7 GPa, microhardness H = 1.7 GPa, coefficient of surface energy of destruction γ\gamma = 0.085 J/m2^{2}. For (0001) face H = 4.2 GPa

A standard radon-222 source for the system of high-accuracy monitoring of radon-hazardous facilities in Ukraine

This scientific paper describes the creation procedure and use of the radon-222 generator based on uranium ore. The research done resulted in selection of an optimal uranium ore composition. Based on temperature field computations we selected the uranium ore capsule material. A standard source structure has been suggested. Optimal options of the use of uranium ore specimens for the generator, volumetric activity standard and also for the device calibration were specified. The monitoring of some real radon-hazardous facilities, using the devices calibrated by standard radon-222 sources, showed a considerable overstepping of the volumetric activity of radon-222 in comparison with available standards

Professional foreign language competence formation using educational multimedia technologies

    No full text
The purpose of the study is to analyze the use of multimedia teaching technologies as a means of developing future linguists' professional foreign language competence and to substantiate the effectiveness of their use in professional training. A combination of modern methods of pedagogical research has been used to fulfil the set goals: theoretical methods, such as analysis, generalization, comparison, synthesis, and systematization of scientific, educational-methodological literature, to determine the current state of the research subject; empirical and diagnostic methods (observation, conversations, interviews, questionnaires, testing) to determine the effectiveness of using multimedia teaching aids and determine practical recommendations for their use; prognostic methods to ascertain and diagnose the level of professional foreign language competence in future linguists; pedagogical experiments to experimentally check the effectiveness of the application of multimedia teaching technologies (multimedia educational presentations) in the process of developing the professional foreign language competence of future linguists; and methods of mathematical statistics for quantitative and qualitative processing of research results and statistical verification of their objectivity using the Pearson χ2 test. The usefulness of multimedia technologies in the development of future linguists' foreign language competence has been substantiated. The practical aspects of creating multimedia presentations aimed at developing professional foreign language competence have been described. It has been proved that the use of multimedia educational presentations to create a foreign-language communicative environment during future linguists' professional training will increase the level of linguists' independent acquisition of educational information, as well as provide positive motivation for educational and future professional activities. © 2021 Conscientia Beam.
