A study of multiparticle fragmentation in K+p interactions at 32 GeV/c

    No full text
Results are presented on inclusive production of resonant and non-resonant particle systems produced in K+p interactions at 32 GeV/c. We compare K*+(892), {Mathematical expression}(1385), Σ*±(1385), and ρ{variant}0 inclusive x-spectra with the ones of non-resonant Ks0π±, {Mathematical expression}, Λπ± and π+π- pairs at the same effective mass. Resonance-particle pairs K*+π±, Σ*+π-, and {Mathematical expression} are also studied together with non-resonant triplets Ks0π±, Λπ+π-, {Mathematical expression}. The invariant x-spectra of resonant particle pairs decrease less rapidly with x then the corresponding non-resonant pairs. Comparison with quark-recombination predictions indicates that the particles, resonances and multiparticle systems are probably created off a single valence quark or diquark instead of carrying all possible valence-quarks. © 1982 Springer-Verlag.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

    Inclusive K*+(1430), K*0(1430), and f(1270) production in K+p interactions at 32 GeV/c

Results are presented on total and semiinclusive cross sections, longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions of the tensor mesons K*+(1430), K*0(1430), and f(1270) observed in K+p interactions at 32 GeV/c. The data are compared with K*+(892). K*0(896) and ρ{variant}0 vector meson production in the same experiment. The shapes of inclusive invariant x-spectra for the strange vector and tensor mesons are found to be rather similar, after removal of diffractive and quasi-two-body channels, in agreement with quark-recombination ideas. © 1982 Springer-Verlag.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

    Two-particle production in K+p interactions at 32 GeV/c

Results are presented on two-particle inclusive production in K+p interactions at 32 GeV/c. We study the x1,2=x1+x2 dependence of invariant structure functions of (ππ)-pairs and compare them to single particle inclusive distributions in the fragmentation regions. Distributions of particles observed at Feynman x2 in association with various "trigger" particles or systems at x1 in the same hemisphere are dicussed in terms of the reduced variable {Mathematical expression}. We further present absolute production rates and production ratios of π+'s and π-'s associated with π±, Ks0, Λ, {Mathematical expression}, K*+ (890), (Ks0π+), and (π+ π-)-triggers, and compare them with qualitative predictions of the quark recombination model. Forwardbackward correlations between (Ks0π±), (Ks0, p), (Λ, π-), {Mathematical expression}, and (p, π-) pairs are also discussed. © 1981 Springer-Verlag.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

    A study of Λπ+, ΛK+ and Λp production in 32 GeV/cK+p interactions

Production of Σ*- and Ξ*- antibaryon resonances in K+ fragmentation processes is observed by studying inclusive λπ+ and λK+ invariant mass distributions in 32 GeV/c K+p interactions. A possible Ξ*- state is reported with a mass of 2137±4 MeV and width ≲20 MeV. Signals are observed at λK+ masses of 2240, 2380 and 2540 MeV, which correspond to previously observed Ξ*- states. Evidence is presented for a low-mass λp enhancement around 2145 MeV. © 1979.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

Determination of the K+π- total cross section for c.m. energy up to 1.8 GeV

The reaction K+p → Δ++(1236) + anything is studied at beam momentum 8.2 GeV/c. The spin density matrix of the Δ++ shows than one-pion exchange is dominant at low-momentum transfer. The total and topological K+π- cross sections have been determined by a Chew-Low extrapolation in the cm energy range from threshold to 1.8 GeV, using three different methods of extrapolation. © 1975.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

    Non-diffractive two-body channels in reactions K+p→K0π+p and K+p→K+π-π+p at 32 GeV/c

    No full text
We present results on a number of non-diffractive two-body channels contributing to reactions K+p→K0π+p and K+p→K+π-π+p. The data come from an exposure of the Mirabelle bubble chamber to an r.f. separated K+ beam of 32 GeV/c at the Serpukhov accelerator. Total cross sections are given for the final states K*+ (890)p, K*+ (1420)p, K0 Δ++ (1232), K*0 (890) Δ++ (1232), K*0 (1420) Δ++ (1232), K*0 (1780) Δ++ (1232) and K*0 (890) Δ++ (1950). The differential cross sections are given for all channels with sufficient statistics. The energy dependence of the total and differential cross sections is studied. © 1979.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
