Abelian Current Algebra and the Virasoro Algebra on the Lattice
We describe how a natural lattice analogue of the abelian current algebra
combined with free discrete time dynamics gives rise to the lattice Virasoro
algebra and corresponding hierarchy of conservation laws.Comment: 11 pages, LATEX, HU-TFT-93-2
Excited scalar mesons in a chiral quark model
First radial excitations of the isoscalar and isovector scalar mesons
f_0(400-1200), f_0(980) and a_0(980) are investigated in the framework of a
nonlocal version of a chiral quark model of the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio type. It is
shown that f_0(1370), f_J(1710) and a_0(1450) are the first radially excited
states of f_0(400-1200), f_0(980) and a_0(980) which are ground states of the
scalar meson nonet. The mesons' masses and strong decay widths are calculated.
The scalar resonance f_0(1500) is supposed to be a glueball. The status of
K_0^*(1430) is discussed.Comment: LaTeX, 1 figure, minor misprints eradicate
Synchronization in the BCS Pairing Dynamics as a Critical Phenomenon
Fermi gas with time-dependent pairing interaction hosts several different
dynamical states. Coupling between the collective BCS pairing mode and
individual Cooper pair states can make the latter either synchronize or
dephase. We describe transition from phase-locked undamped oscillations to
Landau-damped dephased oscillations in the collisionless, dissipationless
regime as a function of coupling strength. In the dephased regime, we find a
second transition at which the long-time asymptotic pairing amplitude vanishes.
Using a combination of numerical and analytical methods we establish a
continuous (type II) character of both transitions
