In this article, the normal continuous mode of distillation is considered using an example of binary two-phase mixture distillation. In practice, there are often deviations from the normal mode. It has been proved that the deviation leads to an increase in energy consumption for the ongoing process. In the industry, columns separating binary mixtures are normally the finishing apparatuses in the flow-sheet separation of multicomponent mixtures, which are obtained in the reactor as a result of main reactions as well as by-reactions. The distillation of binary mixtures is relatively simpler than that of multicomponent mixtures. In this regard, the fundamental parts of monographs especially in the thirties-forties of the last century started with the study of binary mixtures, although multicomponent mixtures were the main focus. The aim of analyzing this complex and the highly energy-intensive process is to facilitate the choice of a mathematical model for the process and the determination on its basis variance. Variance is a set of independent variables that allow calculation of a process only after taking into account the number of independent equations related to these variables. A case of deviation from the normal distillation regime where an under-heated liquid enters the column feed has been revised. This leads to an increase in energy consumption during distillation. Key indicators of the normal regime relative to the level of feed and the temperature of the liquid are shown in the text.Рассмотрено отклонение от нормального режима ректификации в случае подачи в колонну недогретой жидкости. The basic regularities and some peculiarities of multicomponent mixtures rectification in the mode of the first class fractionalization are considered. Rectification trajectories are presented for ternary zeotropic mixtures for the case when the composition of initial mixture belongs to the α=1 manifold.Рассмотрены основные закономерности и некоторые особенности режима первого класса фракционирования при ректификации многокомпонентных смесей. Different values describing both the efficiency of rectification column and the efficiency of mass-transfer are represented in the brief literature review. It is also showed that the approach used for the calculation of mass-transfer efficiency characteristics in binary mixtures is not very acceptable for multi-component mixtures.Представлен краткий литературный обзор, в котором описаны различные величины, характеризующие как эффективность работы ректификационной колонны, так и эффективность процесса массопереноса. The possible transformations of composition – property dependencies of binary homogeneous mixtures are considered. Transformations of the first multiplicity leading to the emergence of internal singular points are followed by changes in the types of points: the topological minimum becomes topological maximum (and vice versa). Transformations of the second multiplicity are related to the existence of internal complex singular points, which are the inflection points of composition – property dependencies of binary mixtures.Рассмотрены возможные преобразования зависимостей состав – свойство бинарных гомо-генных смесей. Преобразования первой кратности, приводящие к появлению внутренней особой точки, сопровождаются изменением типов граничных точек: топологический минимум становится топологическим максимумом (и наоборот). Преобразования второй кратности связаны с существованием внутренних сложных особых точек, являющихся точками перегиба зависимостей состав – свойство бинарных смесей

Показано, что каждый из этих процессов теоретически может быть представлен как обратимый. Сочетание процессов в последовательности равновесное испарение – полная конденсация даже в случае обратимости составляющих порождает возникновение энтропии за счет неравенства температур, соответствующих дифференциальному равновесному испарению, и конечной температуры полной конденсации
