Multipole polarizability of a graded spherical particle

We have studied the multipole polarizability of a graded spherical particle in a nonuniform electric field, in which the conductivity can vary radially inside the particle. The main objective of this work is to access the effects of multipole interactions at small interparticle separations, which can be important in non-dilute suspensions of functionally graded materials. The nonuniform electric field arises either from that applied on the particle or from the local field of all other particles. We developed a differential effective multipole moment approximation (DEMMA) to compute the multipole moment of a graded spherical particle in a nonuniform external field. Moreover, we compare the DEMMA results with the exact results of the power-law graded profile and the agreement is excellent. The extension to anisotropic DEMMA will be studied in an Appendix.Comment: LaTeX format, 2 eps figures, submitted for publication

    Decomposing definiteness in vietnamese

This paper provides a detailed description of how Vietnamese encodes definiteness in the nominal phrase in the context of the crosslinguistic debate about the existence of lexical articles in classifier languages. We first show that so-called lexical determiners in Vietnamese are not genuine articles in the technical sense. We then scrutinize six different referring expressions in Vietnamese including bare nouns, classifier – nouns, numeral – classifier – nouns, plural – classifier – nouns, focus cái – classifier – nouns while pointing out how Vietnamese differs from other better-studied classifier languages. Based on this thorough investigation, we posit that Vietnamese systematically differentiates six levels of the givenness hierarchy in the sense of Gundel et al. (1993); therefore, Vietnamese contributes to a better understanding of the nature of definiteness and the structure of the nominal phrase

Flexible constant force grinding of rare earth metal ingot

    Get PDF
The rare earth metal ingots obtained by molten salt electrolysis method have oxide layers, salt layers, and other impurities on the surface, which require polishing processing. However, currently, manual polishing processing has problems such as low processing efficiency and resource waste. By designing a flexible end effector and adopting a parallel fuzzy Proportion Integration Differentiation (PID) control strategy for constant force control of the end effector, automation and high efficiency of rare earth metal ingot grinding are achieved

Aiming at the problems of low grinding efficiency and difficulty in ensuring grinding uniformity of rare earth metal ingots, a rare earth metal ingot grinding system was designed. Based on Creo software and ANSYS/Workbench software, the kinematics analysis, modal analysis and transient dynamics analysis were carried out on the walking mechanism and flipping mechanism of automatic displacement platform of grinding system. The results show that the rare earth metal ingot grinding system has good stability and is beneficial to improving the grinding quality

The magnetoresistance and Hall effect in CeFeAsO: a high magnetic field study

The longitudinal electrical resistivity and the transverse Hall resistivity of CeFeAsO are simultaneously measured up to a magnetic field of 45T using the facilities of pulsed magnetic field at Los Alamos. Distinct behaviour is observed in both the magnetoresistance Rxx({\mu}0H) and the Hall resistance Rxy({\mu}0H) while crossing the structural phase transition at Ts \approx 150K. At temperatures above Ts, little magnetoresistance is observed and the Hall resistivity follows linear field dependence. Upon cooling down the system below Ts, large magnetoresistance develops and the Hall resistivity deviates from the linear field dependence. Furthermore, we found that the transition at Ts is extremely robust against the external magnetic field. We argue that the magnetic state in CeFeAsO is unlikely a conventional type of spin-density-wave (SDW).Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures SCES2010, To appear in J. Phys.: Conf. Ser. for SCES201

Study on the effect of work roll bearing fit clearance and speed on the vibration of leveling mill

    Get PDF
The vibration of the leveling mill is common in metallurgical enterprises, which causes vibration marks on the surface of the support rolls and affects the surface quality of the strip. This paper establishes a bearing-rotor system model for a leveling mill, and finds that reducing the bearing clearance helps to improve the stability of the mill. The study of different speeds under the amplitude of the change, the work of the roll system gap changes on the vibration of the mill. Finally, the results of the study can provide reference for the theory of vibration suppression of rolling mills
