Transferability of Migration Licenses and the Distribution of Potential Rents
This paper compares the effects of migration restrictions using licenses which are freely traded in a competitive labor market to those that occur when licenses are allocated to firms who are not permitted to trade them. There is reason to expect that a policy of making licenses non-transferable will not only affect production efficiency, but also to allow producers to capture more of the potential migration rents. Applications to migration policies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are discussed.

Remnants from Gamma-Ray Bursts
We model the intermediate time evolution of a "jetted" gamma-ray burst by two
blobs of matter colliding with the interstellar medium. We follow the
hydrodynamical evolution of this system numerically and calculate the
bremsstrahlung and synchrotron images of the remnant. We find that for a burst
energy of erg the remnant becomes spherical after years
when it collects of interstellar mass. This result is
independent of the exact details of the GRB, such as the opening angle. After
this time a gamma-ray burst remnant has an expanding sphere morphology. The
similarity to a supernova remnant makes it difficult distinguish between the
two at this stage. The expected number of non-spherical gamma-ray burst
remnants is per galaxy for a beaming factor of 0.01 and a burst
energy of erg. Our results suggest that that the double-shell object
DEM L 316 is not a GRB remnant.Comment: 16 pages, 9 figures, Substantial revisions, Accepted by Ap
Propagating Disturbances along fan-like coronal loops in an active region
Propagating disturbances are often observed in active region fan-like coronal
loops. They were thought to be due to slow mode MHD waves based on some of the
observed properties. But the recent studies involving spectroscopy indicate
that they could be due to high speed quasi-periodic upflows which are difficult
to distinguish from upward propagating slow waves. In this context, we have
studied a fan loop structure in the active region AR 11465 using simultaneous
spectroscopic and imaging observations from Extreme-ultraviolet Imaging
Spectrometer (EIS) on board Hinode and Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) on
board SDO. Analysis of the data shows significant oscillations at different
locations. We explore the variations in different line parameters to determine
whether the waves or flows could cause these oscillations to improve the
current understanding on the nature of these disturbances.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures. Accepted for publication in RA
Inflow and Outflow of Foreign Direct Investments in BRICS Countries - An Analysis
Foreign Direct Investment broadly includes any long-term investments by an entity that is not a resident of the host country. It may be in the form of inflow of FDIs from other countries into the domestic economy or outflow of FDIs from the domestic economy to other countries. Against this backdrop, this study mainly aimed to examine the macroeconomic scenario of all BRICS nations in. It also intends to estimate the growth of the inflow of FDI into BRICS, the outflow of FDI from BRICS during the study period 1998-2018 using Simple Linear Regression and to forecast the inflow and outflow of FDI in immediate future. The results reveal some interesting facts with significant variations in the key macroeconomic variables of BRICS like annual growth of GDP, current account deficit, rate of inflation, unemployment etc. Results reveal that except India, rest of the BRICS countries are deriving more than 50% of the GDP from the service sector only in 2018.The findings of the study conclude that China has recorded the highest growth in terms of the inflow of FDI among the BRICS during the study period. But. Russian Federation and Brazil have recorded the highest growth rates in terms of the outflow of FDIs from BRICS during the study period .Based on the regression coefficient values, projection of inflow and outflow of FDIs are made, however, the projections will be accurate only when the other things remaining the same
