Sound propagation in density wave conductors and the effect of long-range Coulomb interaction
We study theoretically the sound propagation in charge- and spin-density
waves in the hydrodynamic regime. First, making use of the method of comoving
frame, we construct the stress tensor appropriate for quasi-one dimensional
systems within tight-binding approximation. Taking into account the screening
effect of the long-range Coulomb interaction, we find that the increase of the
sound velocity below the critical temperature is about two orders of magnitude
less for longitudinal sound than for transverse one. It is shown that only the
transverse sound wave with displacement vector parallel to the chain direction
couples to the phason of the density wave, therefore we expect significant

Black hole thermodynamics and modified GUP consistent with doubly special relativity
We study the black hole thermodynamics and obtain the correction terms for
temperature, entropy, and heat capacity of the Schwarzschild black hole,
resulting from the commutation relations in the framework of {\it Modified
Generalized Uncertainty Principle} suggested by {\it Doubly Special

HST and LAMOST discover a dual active galactic nucleus in J0038+4128
We report the discovery of a kiloparsec-scale dual active galactic nucleus
(AGN) in J0038+4128. From the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Wide Field Planetary
Camera (WFPC2) images, we find two optical nuclei with a projection separation
of 4.7 kpc (3.44 arcsec). The southern component (J0038+4128S) is
spectroscopically observed with the HST Goddard High Resolution Spectrograph in
the UV range and is found to be a Seyfert 1 galaxy with a broad Ly alpha
emission line. The northern component (J0038+4128N) is spectroscopically
observed during the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fibre Spectroscopic Telescope
(also named the Guoshoujing Telescope) pilot survey in the optical range. The
observed line ratios as well as the consistency of redshift of the nucleus
emission lines and the host galaxy's absorption lines indicate that J0038+4128N
is a Seyfert 2 galaxy with narrow lines only. These results thus confirm that
J0038+4128 is a Seyfert 1-Seyfert 2 AGN pair. The HST WFPC2 F336W/U-band image
of J0038+4128 also reveals for the first time for a dual AGN system two pairs
of bi-symmetric arms, as are expected from the numerical simulations of such
system. Being one of a few confirmed kiloparsec-scale dual AGNs exhibiting a
clear morphological structure of the host galaxies, J0038+4128 provides an
unique opportunity to study the co-evolution of the host galaxies and their

Reply to "Comment on 'Fano resonance for Anderson Impurity Systems' "
In a recent Comment, Kolf et al. (cond-mat/0503669) state that our analysis
of the Fano resonance for Anderson impurity systems [Luo et al., Phys. Rev.
Lett 92, 256602 (2004)] is incorrect. Here we want to point out that their
comments are not based on firm physical results and their criticisms are

The prevalence of insomnia in the general population in China: A meta-analysis
This is the first meta-analysis of the pooled prevalence of insomnia in the general population of China. A systematic literature search was conducted via the following databases: PubMed, PsycINFO, EMBASE and Chinese databases (China National Knowledge Interne (CNKI), WanFang Data and SinoMed). Statistical analyses were performed using the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis program. A total of 17 studies with 115,988 participants met the inclusion criteria for the analysis. The pooled prevalence of insomnia in China was 15.0% (95% Confidence interval [CI]: 12.1%-18.5%). No significant difference was found in the prevalence between genders or across time period. The pooled prevalence of insomnia in population with a mean age of 43.7 years and older (11.6%; 95% CI: 7.5%-17.6%) was significantly lower than in those with a mean age younger than 43.7 years (20.4%; 95% CI: 14.2%-28.2%). The prevalence of insomnia was significantly affected by the type of assessment tools (Q = 14.1, P = 0.001). The general population prevalence of insomnia in China is lower than those reported in Western countries but similar to those in Asian countries. Younger Chinese adults appear to suffer from more insomnia than older adults
Optical and magnetic properties of Ni nanoparticles in rutile formed by Ni ion implantation
Crystalline Ni nanoparticles in the near surface of TiO2TiO2 (rutile) have been synthesized by Ni ion beam implantation at room temperature to a fluence of 1×1017/cm21×1017∕cm2. Transmission electron microscopy, optical absorption spectroscopy, and a superconducting quantum interference device magnetometer have been utilized to characterize the nanostructure, optical and magnetic properties of Ni particles in TiO2TiO2. Crystalline Ni nanoparticles with dimensions ranging 3–20 nm formed in the near surface of rutile, which caused a broad absorption band from 700 nm in the optical absorption spectrum. Magnetic measurement indicated that the coercive force of Ni nanoparticles was about 210 Oe at 10 K. Metamagnetic Transition in NaCoO Single Crystals
We report the magnetization, specific heat and transport measurements of high
quality NaCoO single crystals in applied magnetic fields up to
14T. In high temperatures, the system is in a paramagnetic phase. It undergoes
a magnetic phase transition below about 20K. When the field is applied along
the c-axis, the measurement data of magnetization, specific heat and
magnetoresistance reveal a metamagnetic transition from an antiferromagnetic
state to a quasi-ferromagnetic state at about 8T in low temperatures. However,
no transition is observed in the magnetization measurements up to 14T when the
field is applied perpendicular to the c-axis. The low temperature magnetic
phase diagram of NaCoO is determined.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
