Electrical switching of a chiral lasing from polariton condensate in a Rashba-Dresselhaus regime
Efficient optical classical and quantum information processing imposes on
light novel requirements: chirality with low threshold non-linearities. In this
work we demonstrate a chiral lasing from an optical modes due to emerging
photonic Rashba-Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling (SOC). For this purpose we
developed a new electrically tunable device based on an optical cavity filled
with birefringent liquid crystal (LC) and perovskite crystals. Our novel method
for the growth of single crystals of CsPbBr inorganic perovskite in polymer
templates allows us to reach a strong light-matter coupling regime between
perovskite excitons and cavity modes, and induce polariton condensation. The
sensitivity of the LC to external electric fields lets us to tune the
condensate energy in situ and induce synthetic SOC. This shapes the condensate
between a single linearly polarized or two circularly polarized separated in
momentum, emitting coherent light. The difference in the condensation
thresholds between the two SOC regimes can be used to switch on and off the
chiral condensate emission with a voltage.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure

MiDAS 4: A global catalogue of full-length 16S rRNA gene sequences and taxonomy for studies of bacterial communities in wastewater treatment plants
Microbial communities are responsible for biological wastewater treatment, but our knowledge of their diversity and function is still poor. Here, we sequence more than 5 million high-quality, full-length 16S rRNA gene sequences from 740 wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) across the world and use the sequences to construct the ‘MiDAS 4’ database. MiDAS 4 is an amplicon sequence variant resolved, full-length 16S rRNA gene reference database with a comprehensive taxonomy from domain to species level for all sequences. We use an independent dataset (269 WWTPs) to show that MiDAS 4, compared to commonly used universal reference databases, provides a better coverage for WWTP bacteria and an improved rate of genus and species level classification. Taking advantage of MiDAS 4, we carry out an amplicon-based, global-scale microbial community profiling of activated sludge plants using two common sets of primers targeting regions of the 16S rRNA gene, revealing how environmental conditions and biogeography shape the activated sludge microbiota. We also identify core and conditionally rare or abundant taxa, encompassing 966 genera and 1530 species that represent approximately 80% and 50% of the accumulated read abundance, respectively. Finally, we show that for well-studied functional guilds, such as nitrifiers or polyphosphate-accumulating organisms, the same genera are prevalent worldwide, with only a few abundant species in each genus

Determinants of ergonomics work of women
Celem pracy jest przeanalizowane wybranych determinant ergonomicznej pracy kobiet, w porównaniu do odpowiednio zatrudnianych mężczyzn oraz wskazanie kierunków usprawnień. Należy zauważyć, że zakres pracy wykonywanej przez kobiety w większości przypadków różni się od pracy zlecanej mężczyznom. Wśród kobiet charakteryzujących się wyższym wykształceniem, wskaźnik zatrudnienia jest znacznie mniejszy niż mężczyzn. Kobiety podejmują pracę przede wszystkim lekką, średnio ciężką, natomiast ciężką i średnio ciężką wykonują mężczyźni. W analizie zatrudnienia, zwrócono również uwagę na dyskryminację kobiet. Obecnie dostrzega się za to wzrost wskaźnika aktywności zawodowej zarówno wśród kobiet, jak i mężczyzn. Czas pracy oraz zakres i sposób zlecanych czynności pracującym zawodowo kobietom, a zwłaszcza samotnie wychowującym dzieci powinien być ściśle dostosowywany do ich potrzeb i możliwości psychofizycznych, co powinno być zgodne z zasadami ergonomii.The paper analyzed the selected determinantas of ergonomics work related to employ the women, compared to men employed respectively. It should be noted that the scope of work performed by women in most cases is different from the work for men. Among women with higher education, the employment rate is much lower than for men. Women take mainly light and medium duty, while men do the hard and medium-hard work. Analysis of employment also focuses attention on discrimination against women. Currently, there is an increase in professional activity among both women and men. Working time, the scope and manner of tasks entrusted to working women, especially single parents, should be closely tailored to their needs and psycho-physical capabilities which should be consistent with the principles of ergonomics
Assessment of mining horizontal deformation impact on selected brick building

w Katowicach. Proces modelowania budynku oraz jego analiza obliczeniowa wykonana została w programie Autodesk Robot
Structural Analysis. Przedmiotowy obiekt o konstrukcji ścianowej został poddany obciążeniom wynikającym z ciężaru własnego
konstrukcji, obciążeń użytkowych oraz z wpływu górniczych deformacji podłoża w postaci poziomych odkształceń. Na podstawie
wykonanej analizy obliczeniowej wykazano, że eksploatacja górnicza nie spowodowała przekroczenia dopuszczalnych
wartości naprężenia w elementach konstrukcyjnych, a obciążenie górnicze zostało przeniesione przez ławy żelbetowe. Wyniki
analizy zostały potwierdzone obserwacjami terenowymi, które nie wykazały powstania uszkodzeń obiektu na skutek prowadzonej
eksploatacji górniczej.This paper presents the assessment of the mining exploitation impact on a brick building on the example of the City Nursery
in Katowice. The building modeling process and its computational analysis were performed in Autodesk Robot Structural
Analysis. The wall construction object was subject to loads from the weight of its own construction, utility loads and the
influence of horizontal mining deformation. Based on the computational analysis it was shown that the mining operation did
not exceed the permissible stress values in the structure and the mining load was transferred through the reinforced continuous
footing. The results of the analysis were confirmed by field observations which did not show any damage to the object due
to the mining operation
Analysis of the process of double - deck bus rollover at the avoidance of an obstacle having suddenly sprung up
A critical traffic situation has been explored where a double-deck bus may roll over. The factors that may cause critical situations during a bus drive have been analysed. Based on this, they may be categorised as being related to vehicle construction, vehicle operation, and road infrastructure. A situation has been chosen for the analysis where the bus without passengers avoids an obstacle having suddenly sprung up in front of the bus at a distance within which the bus cannot be stopped. A similar problem occurring in the case of a passenger car drive was analysed in study [6]; it was indicated there that the manoeuvre of avoiding an obstacle is definitely more favourable in comparison with the braking process. A model of the bus motion dynamics with 12 degrees of freedom was adopted. The vehicle trajectory was given in the form of a predefined input generated by a driver model. The course of the rollover process depends to a significant extent on the interaction between the tyres and the road surface. A semi-empirical non-linear TMeasy tyre model was chosen. The calculations were carried out with the use of a computing program specially built for this purpose, where a double-deck bus model and a driver model were applied to investigate the traffic situation as described above. The calculation results obtained have shown that the process of rollover of a bus without passengers emerges at the final stage of the obstacle avoidance manoeuvre at a speed exceeding 108 km/h. This has been confirmed by the course of changes in the pressure of wheels on the road. Based on the simulation calculations carried out, an attempt was made to determine, from the observed courses of changes in physical quantities, the values that might warn the driver about a situation of imminent danger of rollover of the double-deck bus and thus might affect driver's actions
