The comparison of using the backboard versus the basket rim as a point of aim in basketball shooting
The purpose of this study was to determine whether using the basket rim or using the backboard as a point of aim is the more accurate method of shooting a jump shot. The distances of ten and fifteen feet within a specified angle of 45 degrees were investigated. Ten volunteers from the South Dakota State University Junior Varsity Basketball Team participated in this study. The study involved a four-week period, starting November 3, 1969, and ending November 24, 1969

Calculation of Densities of States and Spectral Functions by Chebyshev Recursion and Maximum Entropy
We present an efficient algorithm for calculating spectral properties of
large sparse Hamiltonian matrices such as densities of states and spectral
functions. The combination of Chebyshev recursion and maximum entropy achieves
high energy resolution without significant roundoff error, machine precision or
numerical instability limitations. If controlled statistical or systematic
errors are acceptable, cpu and memory requirements scale linearly in the number
of states. The inference of spectral properties from moments is much better
conditioned for Chebyshev moments than for power moments. We adapt concepts
from the kernel polynomial approximation, a linear Chebyshev approximation with
optimized Gibbs damping, to control the accuracy of Fourier integrals of
positive non-analytic functions. We compare the performance of kernel
polynomial and maximum entropy algorithms for an electronic structure example.Comment: 8 pages RevTex, 3 postscript figure
Sistema de formaĆ§Ć£o de pastagem em associaĆ§Ć£o com a cultura do arroz em Ć”rea de cerrado do AmapĆ”.
Visando estudar a viabilidade bioeconomica da formaĆ§Ć£o de pastagens em associaĆ§Ć£o com a cultura do arroz, foram desenvolvidos dois experimentos em Ć”rea de campo cerrado do Estado do AmapĆ”, envolvendo o plantio de Brachiaria humidicola (quicuio-da-amazĆ“nia) e Andropogon gayanus. Os trabalhos foram conduzidos em Latossolo Amarelo textura franco-argilo-arenosa, acido e de baixa fertilidade natural. Segundo Koppen, o clima e Ami-tropical chuvoso, com 2.500mm de precipitaĆ§Ć£o media anual, 26Ā§C de temperatura media e umidade relativa acima de 80%. Utilizou-se o delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso com trĆŖs repetiƧƵes o nove tratamentos para cada experimento. Os resultados indicaram que ha viabilidade da formaĆ§Ć£o de pastagens de Brachiaria humidicola e Andropogon gayanus com a cultura do arroz e que tanto sob o ponto de vista agronomico como economico, a formaĆ§Ć£o de pastagens associadas a cultura do arroz deve ser realizada no primeiro ano de abertura do cerrado.bitstream/item/87357/1/CPAF-AP-Boletim-10.pd
