    Self-dual Hopfions

We construct static and time-dependent exact soliton solutions with non-trivial Hopf topological charge for a field theory in 3+1 dimensions with the target space being the two dimensional sphere S**2. The model considered is a reduction of the so-called extended Skyrme-Faddeev theory by the removal of the quadratic term in derivatives of the fields. The solutions are constructed using an ansatz based on the conformal and target space symmetries. The solutions are said self-dual because they solve first order differential equations which together with some conditions on the coupling constants, imply the second order equations of motion. The solutions belong to a sub-sector of the theory with an infinite number of local conserved currents. The equation for the profile function of the ansatz corresponds to the Bogomolny equation for the sine-Gordon model.Comment: plain latex, no figures, 23 page

Dose-adapted post-transplant cyclophosphamide for HLA-haploidentical transplantation in Fanconi anemia.

We developed a haploidentical transplantation protocol with post-transplant cyclophosphamide (CY) for in vivo T-cell depletion (TCD) using a novel adapted-dosing schedule (25 mg/kg on days +3 and +4) for Fanconi anemia (FA). With median follow-up of 3 years (range, 37 days to 6.2 years), all six patients engrafted. Two patients with multiple pre-transplant comorbidities died, one from sepsis and one from sepsis with associated chronic GVHD. Four patients without preexisting comorbidities and early transplant referrals are alive with 100% donor chimerism and excellent performance status. We conclude that adjusted-dosing post-transplant CY is effective in in vivo TCD to promote full donor engraftment in patients with FA

The aim of this study is to examine the relationships between the organizations responsible for urban planning in the towns of the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, Brazil, and how these relationships influence urban development practices. In the article we establish a definition of organizational practices in accordance with social practices and, empirically, we enquire how the urbanism model of the capital city of Paraná State impacts on the towns in the region. The theoretical frame of reference is characterized by the institutional theory in its structurationist approach. When describing the research strategy, we outline the relationships between the organizations of the towns of the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba through a social network analysis. Meanwhile, the urban development practices were identified based on secondary data and statements by 62 public managers. The results show a low density in direct relationships between town halls, with the network becoming more dense when State Government departments are involved. Despite the low level of direct influence of Curitiba’s urbanism on the other towns of the metropolitan region, characteristics of domination, signification and legitimization reveal some isomorphic practices and the presence of Brazilian cultural factors influencing the way public organizations act

Influence of topography and Co domain walls on the magnetization reversal of the FeNi layer in FeNi/Al_2\_2O_3\_3/Co magnetic tunnel junctions

We have studied the magnetization reversal dynamics of FeNi/Al_2\_2O_3\_3/Co magnetic tunnel junctions deposited on step-bunched Si substrates using magneto-optical Kerr effect and time-resolved x-ray photoelectron emission microscopy combined with x-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD-PEEM). Different reversal mechanisms have been found depending on the substrate miscut angle. Larger terraces (smaller miscut angles) lead to a higher nucleation density and stronger domain wall pinning. The width of domain walls with respect to the size of the terraces seems to play an important role in the reversal. We used the element selectivity of XMCD-PEEM to reveal the strong influence of the stray field of domain walls in the hard magnetic layer on the magnetic switching of the soft magnetic layer.Comment: 8 Pages, 7 Figure
