Error-free 5.1 Tbit/s data generation on a single-wavelength channel using a 1.28 Tbaud symbol rate
We demonstrate a record bit rate of 5.1 Tbit/s on a single wavelength using a 1.28 Tbaud OTDM symbol rate, DQPSK data-modulation, and polarisation-multiplexing. Error-free performance (BER .... & more
-decay of Ar
Information on gross β-decay properties of neutron-rich noble gas isotopes 49,50Ar was obtained at the PSB-ISOLDE facility at CERN using isobaric selectivity achieved by the combination of a plasma ion source with a cooled transfer line and subsequent mass separation. A doubly charged beam was used in the case of 49Ar to suppress the corresponding multicharged background from heavier noble gas fission products. The comparison of the obtained data with results of quasiparticle random-phase approximation calculations indicates that the N = 28 shell is not disturbed significantly for neutron-rich Ar nuclei. The obtained results are useful for better understanding of the origin of the 48Ca/46Ca isotopic anomaly discovered in inclusions from the Allende meteorite

Teduglutide reduces need for parenteral support among patients with short bowel syndrome with intestinal failure
Teduglutide, a glucagon-like peptide 2 analogue, might restore intestinal structural and functional integrity by promoting growth of the mucosa and reducing gastric emptying and secretion. These factors could increase fluid and nutrient absorption in patients with short bowel syndrome with intestinal failure (SBS-IF). We performed a prospective study to determine whether teduglutide reduces parenteral support in patients with SBS-IF
