Complexation of Ni(II), Cu(II), Gd(III), and Fe(III) with chelating agents [iminodiacetic (H2IDA) and nitrilotriacetic acids (H3NTA)] and salicylic acid (H2Sal) in mixed solutions of anionic [sodium dodecyl (SDS) and tetradecyl sulfates (STS)] and nonionic surfactants [polyoxyethylene sorbitans Tween (Tw-20, Tw-40, Tw-60, and Tw-80) and Triton X100 (TX) polyoxyethylated adduct of octylphenol) is studied by the nuclear magnetic relaxation and spectrophotometry methods. Association of Cu2+, Ni2+, Gd3+, Fe3+, Na+, and H+ with mixed micelles is treated by computer simulation. It is demonstrated that chelating agents compete with mixed aggregates of surfactants in fixing multicharged metal ions. Salicylic acid forms mixed compounds with Fe(III), containing an alkyl sulfate and an oxyethylated adduct

© 2018, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature. Influence of structure of epoxy resin and anhydride hardener, as well as type and content of accelerator on thermal properties of epoxy–anhydride networks were investigated by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The experimental values of molecular weight between crosslinks (Mc) in the epoxy polymers were determined. Influence of the catalyst on defect structure of the polymer network was observed. The use of two phosphonium salts as curing accelerators to a greater extent than 2-methylimidazole allows fabricating polymers with a higher crosslink density. The concentration dependence of polymer’s thermal properties was studied and the optimum content of the accelerator giving the network with improved properties was determined

© 2017, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC. The kinetics of the curing process of epoxy resin (ED-22) in the presence of the anhydride hardeners (iso-methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride, hexahydrophthalic anhydride, and dodecylsuccinic anhydride) and accelerators (2-methyl imidazole and n-butyltriphenylphosphonium bromide) has been investigated by DSC method in the dynamic mode. Processing of experimental DSC thermograms recorded at different heating rates was carried out within the frameworks of isoconvertional analysis in two versions, namely "model-free" method of Friedman and the Ozawa—Flynn—Wall method. The possibility to describe the kinetics of epoxy compositions curing in the frameworks of one-step autocatalytic reaction model has been demonstrated. Obtained kinetic parameters were used to predict the curing kinetics under isothermal conditions and for comparative analysis of the compositions

Rheological properties of epoxy oligomers and their mixtures in a wide temperature range

The rheological properties of a series of epoxy-diane and epoxy-novolac oligomers and active diluents were studied in a wide temperature range. The activation energies of their viscous flow in the regions of low and high temperatures were calculated. In a series of active diluents, the efficiency of decreasing viscosity of their mixtures with epoxy oligomers correlates with the glass transition temperature of the diluent. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc

© 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.A wide range of phosphorylated α-,β-,γ-aminoacetals of various structure were obtained by Kabachnik- Fields reaction. Acid-catalyzed reactions of phenols with α-,β-,γ -aminoacetals provide a new approach to the synthesis of different polyphenols, containing aminophosphonate and aminophosphine oxide moieties, arylsubstituted heterocycles containing phosphonate and phosphinoxide groups. Herein we present a short overview of these reactions

Homogeneous Liquid Phase Transfer of Graphene Oxide into Epoxy Resins

    Get PDF
© 2017 American Chemical Society. The quality of polymer composite materials depends on the distribution of the filler in the polymer matrix. Due to the presence of the oxygen functional groups, graphene oxide (GO) has a strong affinity to epoxy resins, providing potential opportunity for the uniform distribution of GO sheets in the matrix. Another advantage of GO over its nonoxidized counterpart is its ability to exfoliate to single-atomic-layer sheets in water and in some organic solvents. However, these advantages of GO have not yet been fully realized due to the lack of the methods efficiently introducing GO into the epoxy resin. Here we develop a novel homogeneous liquid phase transfer method that affords uniform distribution, and fully exfoliated condition of GO in the polymer matrix. The most pronounced alteration of properties of the cured composites is registered at the 0.10%-0.15% GO content. Addition of as little as 0.10% GO leads to the increase of the Young's modulus by 48%. Moreover, we demonstrate successful introduction of GO into the epoxy matrix containing an active diluent-modifier; this opens new venues for fabrication of improved GO-epoxy-modifier composites with a broad range of predesigned properties. The experiments done on reproducing the two literature methods, using alternative GO introduction techniques, lead to either decrease or insignificant increase of the Young's modulus of the resulting GO-epoxy composites

Phosphorylated aminoacetal in the synthesis of new acyclic, cyclic, and heterocyclic polyphenol structures

    Get PDF
New phosphorylated aminoacetal has been synthesized by the Kabachnik-Fields reaction; its reactivity has been studied in acid-catalyzed condensation with linear polyphenols (2-methylresorcinol, resorcinol, pyrogallol) and the Mannich reaction with macrocyclic polyphenol (calix[4]resorcinol). It has been determined for the first time that acid-catalyzed reaction of phosphorus-containing acetal with resorcinol and its derivatives in ethanol in the presence of hydrochloric acid gives new phosphorylated piperazines in addition to the compounds of diarylmethane series. Condensation of macrocyclic polyphenol (calix[4]resorcinol) with formaldehyde and N-((dihexylphosphoryl) methyl)-2, 2-dimethoxyethylamine (the Mannich reaction) has resulted in novel tetrasubstituted calixarene containing aminophosphine oxide and acetal groups on the "upper rim" of molecule. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc
