    Frequency-domain implementation of block adaptive filters for ICA-based multichannel blind deconvolution+I3055

    In this paper, we present frequency-domain implementations of two adaptive multichannel blind deconvolution filters that employ the independent component analysis principle. The proposed implementations achieve considerable computational gains, which is shown by performing detailed analysis on the computational complexity. Particularly, our implementations incorporate a nonholonomic constraint to deal with overdetermined cases. The developed algorithms were successfully applied to the blind separation of real-world speech signals

    CD82/KAI1 Maintains the Dormancy of Long-Term Hematopoietic Stem Cells through Interaction with DARC- Expressing Macrophages

    Hematopoiesis is regulated by crosstalk between long-term repopulating hematopoietic stem cells (LT-HSCs) and supporting niche cells in the bone marrow (BM). Here, we examine the role of CD82/ KAI1 in niche-mediated LT-HSC maintenance. We found that CD82/ KAI1 is expressed predominantly on LT-HSCs and rarely on other hematopoietic stem-progenitor cells (HSPCs). In Cd82 +/-/+/- mice, LTHSCs were selectively lost as they exited from quiescence and differentiated. Mechanistically, CD82based TGF-b1/ Smad3 signaling leads to induction of CDK inhibitors and cell-cycle inhibition. The CD82 binding partner DARC/ CD234 is expressed on macrophages and stabilizes CD82 on LT-HSCs, promoting their quiescence. When DARC + BMmacrophages were ablated, the level of surface CD82 on LT-HSCs decreased, leading to cell-cycle entry, proliferation, and differentiation. A similar interaction appears to be relevant for human HSPCs. Thus, CD82 is a functional surface marker of LT-HSCs that maintains quiescence through interaction with DARC-expressing macrophages in the BM stem cell niche.113525Ysciescopu

    99 cases were operated while we could not use antibiotics. The author traced X-ray photos on paper and measured areas of the peeled cavities with a planimeter. Results were as follows. 1) 66 cases had increasing stage and the rates were more than 30 %. 2) Cases with good developments showed larger original areas (50〜100cm^2) and smaller increasing rates (less than 30 %). 3) Also their X-ray photos showed coinciding or almost coinciding lines of the apices of lungs and the bases of cavities, but we had to take precautions against suppuration when they showed a horizontal line several days after operation. 4) Most of too high degree of adhesion or thickning of pleura did not show good results. When we found a cord which we must manage with some procedures by pneumolysis we must attend to suppuration too. 5)We ought to resect 4th or 5th rib more than 20 cm and 5th or 4th several cm supplementary. 6) As a method of constriction we commend the INVAGI.NATION method. 7) The author noticed in a considerable number of cases that the areas of cavities increased again after they kept long balanced stages

    Abstract Background In folk medicine, the aerial part of Crytotaenia japonica Hassk. (CJ), is applied for treatment of the common cold, cough, urinary problems, pneumonia, and skin rashes. In this paper, the in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory activity of CJ methanol extract was tested using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory models. Methods We measured nitric oxide (NO), inducible NO synthase (iNOS), and inflammatory cytokine levels from LPS-stimulated mouse peritoneal macrophages. Also, several cellular signaling molecules which regulate the expressions of these inflammatory markers were examined. Finally, we tested whether oral administration of CJ methanol extract might affect the serum cytokine levels in LPS-injected mice. Results CJ methanol extract reduced NO release via iNOS protein inhibition. The extract was also shown to decrease the secretions of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-6, and IL-12. Analysis of signaling molecules showed that CJ inhibited the phosphorylation of STAT1, p38, JNK and ERK1/2 as well as IκBα degradation. Finally, CJ decreased the serum levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in LPS-injected mice. Conclusions Our results demonstrated the anti-inflammatory activity of CJ methanol extract and its possible underlying mechanisms that involve modulation of IκBα, MAPK, and STAT1 activities.</p

    Combined machine learning and biomolecular analysis for stability assessment of anaerobic ammonium oxidation under salt stress

    In this study, the stability of the total nitrogen removal efficiency (TNRE) was modeled using an artificial neural network (ANN)-based binary classification model for the anaerobic ammonium oxidation (AMX) process under saline conditions. The TNRE was stabilized to 80.2 +/- 11.4% at the final phase under the salinity of 1.0 +/-&amp; nbsp;0.02%. The results of terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP) analysis showed the predominance of Candidatus Jettenia genus. Real-time quantitative PCR analysis revealed the average abundance of Ca. Jettenia and Kuenenia spp. increased in 3.2 +/- 5.4 x 108 and 2.0 +/- 2.2 x 105 copies/mL, respectively. The prediction accuracy using operational parameters with data augmentation was 88.2%. However, integration with T-RFLP and real-time qPCR signals improved the prediction accuracy by 97.1%.
