    Pleosporales

One hundred and five generic types of Pleosporales are described and illustrated. A brief introduction and detailed history with short notes on morphology, molecular phylogeny as well as a general conclusion of each genus are provided. For those genera where the type or a representative specimen is unavailable, a brief note is given. Altogether 174 genera of Pleosporales are treated. Phaeotrichaceae as well as Kriegeriella, Zeuctomorpha and Muroia are excluded from Pleosporales. Based on the multigene phylogenetic analysis, the suborder Massarineae is emended to accommodate five families, viz. Lentitheciaceae, Massarinaceae, Montagnulaceae, Morosphaeriaceae and Trematosphaeriaceae

Free Radicals, Salicylic Acid and Mycotoxins in Asparagus After Inoculation with Fusarium proliferatum and F. oxysporum

Electron paramagnetic resonance was used to monitor free radicals and paramagnetic species like Fe, Mn, Cu generation, stability and status in Asparagus officinalis infected by common pathogens Fusarium proliferatum and F. oxysporum. Occurrence of F. proliferatum and F. oxysporum, level of free radicals and other paramagnetic species, as well as salicylic acid and mycotoxins content in roots and stems of seedlings were estimated on the second and fourth week after inoculation. In the first term free and total salicylic acid contents were related to free radicals level in stem (P = 0.010 and P = 0.033, respectively). Concentration of Fe3+ ions in porphyrin complexes (g = 2.3, g = 2.9) was related to the species of pathogen. There was no significant difference between Mn2+ concentrations in stem samples; however, the level of free radicals in samples inoculated with F. proliferatum was significantly higher when compared to F. oxysporum

Microbial communities in roots of Pinus sylvestris seedlings with damping-off symptoms in two forest nurseries as determined by ITS1/2 rDNA sequencing

P>A methodological molecular procedure, which included extraction and cloning of the ITS1/2 rDNA of root-associated organisms with subsequent transformation and sequencing of representative clones, was effective for detection, discrimination and determination of the frequency of the main damping-off pathogens in roots of Pinus sylvestris seedlings growing in different forest-tree nursery soils and exhibiting different rates of disease progress. Roots exhibiting slower damping-off progression were colonized by Fusarium oxysporum, Neonectria radicicola (Ascomycota) and Pythium spp. (Oomycota), which comprised 50% of the microbial community. Roots exhibiting faster damping-off progression were dominated by Thanatephorus cucumeris (Basidiomycota), which comprised 80% of the microbial community. The microbial community was more diverse in roots with slower damping-off progression (14 species) than in roots with faster disease progression (seven species)

Therrya fuckelii i inne grzyby na strzałach i gałęziach Pinus sylvestris uszkodzonych przez uderzenia pioruna

The evidence-based hypothesis is presented that the stems and branches of Pinus sylvestris injured by lightning strikes are colonized first by Therrya fuckelii and successively by Diplodia pinea, Nectria fuckeliana, Hyaloscypha leuconica, Gremmeniella abietina and Cenangium ferruginosum. The concomitant occurrence of these usually pathogenic fungi on injured Pinus trees in Poland signals a potential for their increased significance in Europe during climatic changes. Wynikają one z obserwowanych ostatnio zmian klimatycznych i występowania pogody obfitującej w częste burze i wyładowania atmosferyczne
