The Correlation between Climate Change and Corporate Performance
38-43The purpose of the study is to verify the correlation of the climate change risk focusing on the influence of carbon emission on the corporate performance and discriminative response of corporate contingent upon the publishment of Sustainability Report. The results of this study show that there is a negative (-) relationship between Carbon emission intensity and corporate performance. And the negative influence of carbon emission intensity on corporate performance was found to be smaller for companies that published sustainability reports than for those that did not. This study provided empirical evidences on why corporate’s active reactive activities according to the climate change is essential for sustainable development

Effects of Gas on Formation and Evolution of Stellar Bars and Nuclear Rings in Disk Galaxies
We run self-consistent simulations of Milky Way-sized, isolated disk galaxies
to study formation and evolution of a stellar bar as well as a nuclear ring in
the presence of gas. We consider two sets of models with cold or warm disks
that differ in the radial velocity dispersions, and vary the gas fraction
by fixing the total disk mass. A bar forms earlier and more
strongly in the cold disks with larger , while gas progressively
delays the bar formation in the warm disks . The bar formation enhances a
central mass concentration which in turn makes the bar decay temporarily, after
which it regrows in size and strength, eventually becoming stronger in models
with smaller . Although all bars rotate fast in the beginning,
they rapidly turn to slow rotators. In our models, only the gas-free, warm disk
undergoes rapid buckling instability, while other disks thicken more gradually
via vertical heating. The gas driven inward by the bar potential readily forms
a star-forming nuclear ring. The ring is very small when it first forms and
grows in size over time. The ring star formation rate is episodic and bursty
due to feedback, and well correlated with the mass inflow rate to the ring.
Some expanding shells produced by star formation feedback are sheared out in
the bar regions and collide with dust lanes to appear as filamentary interbar
spurs. The bars and nuclear rings formed in our simulations have properties
similar to those in the Milky Way

Distinct neural networks associated with obsession and delusion: A connectome-wide association study
BACKGROUND: Obsession and delusion are theoretically distinct from each other in terms of reality testing. Despite such phenomenological distinction, no extant studies have examined the identification of common and distinct neural correlates of obsession and delusion by employing biologically grounded methods. Here, we investigated dimensional effects of obsession and delusion spanning across the traditional diagnostic boundaries reflected upon the resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) using connectome-wide association studies (CWAS).
METHODS: Our study sample comprised of 96 patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder, 75 patients with schizophrenia, and 65 healthy controls. A connectome-wide analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between obsession and delusion severity and RFSC using multivariate distance-based matrix regression.
RESULTS: Obsession was associated with the supplementary motor area, precentral gyrus, and superior parietal lobule, while delusion was associated with the precuneus. Follow-up seed-based RSFC and modularity analyses revealed that obsession was related to aberrant inter-network connectivity strength. Additional inter-network analyses demonstrated the association between obsession severity and inter-network connectivity between the frontoparietal control network and the dorsal attention network.
CONCLUSIONS: Our CWAS study based on the Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) provides novel evidence for the circuit-level functional dysconnectivity associated with obsession and delusion severity across diagnostic boundaries. Further refinement and accumulation of biomarkers from studies embedded within the RDoC framework would provide useful information in treating individuals who have some obsession or delusion symptoms but cannot be identified by the category of clinical symptoms alone
Breathing silicon anodes for durable high-power operations
Silicon anode materials have been developed to achieve high capacity lithium ion batteries for operating smart phones and driving electric vehicles for longer time. Serious volume expansion induced by lithiation, which is the main drawback of silicon, has been challenged by multi-faceted approaches. Mechanically rigid and stiff polymers (e.g. alginate and carboxymethyl cellulose) were considered as the good choices of binders for silicon because they grab silicon particles in a tight and rigid way so that pulverization and then break-away of the active mass from electric pathways are suppressed. Contrary to the public wisdom, in this work, we demonstrate that electrochemical performances are secured better by letting silicon electrodes breathe in and out lithium ions with volume change rather than by fixing their dimensions. The breathing electrodes were achieved by using a polysaccharide (pullulan), the conformation of which is modulated from chair to boat during elongation. The conformational transition of pullulan was originated from its a glycosidic linkages while the conventional rigid polysaccharide binders have beta linkagesopen1
