U širokoj lepezi raznih istočnjačkih tradicija i praksi koje utiskuju sve vidljiviji pečat zapadnoj kulturi nalazi se i feng shui. Ovaj rad problematizira pitanje njegove metamorfoze na putu do zapadnog kapitalističkog/komercijalnog društva, postavljajući ga u kontekst oprečnih svjetonazora Istoka i Zapada te new age pokreta kao sekundarnog okruženja i plodnog tla za alteraciju ove vještine. Intrigantno pitanje adaptacije sustava feng shuija zapadnjačkom svjetonazoru i mentalitetu isprepleće se s problematikom marketinških poteza koji ga apsolutno pojednostavljuju i udaljavaju od ishodišnih postavki te šire granice njegove primjene do iznenađujućih razmjera.Feng shui is one of many traditions and practices from the Far East that leave their increasingly more visible mark on the Western culture. This paper discusses the issue of its metamorphosis on its way to the Western capitalist/commercialized society, placing it into the context of the mutually exclusive Eastern and Western worldviews, as well as into the context of the new age movement as a secular environment and fertile ground for the alteration of this skill. The intriguing question of the adaptation of the feng shui system to the Western attitudes and mentality has been intertwined with the issues of the advertising strategies that tend to simplify it and thus place it further from its starting point and broaden the boundaries of its application to the surprising degree

U radu je predstavljena ideja vizualizacije hrane u muzejima, inspirirana drevnom kineskom vještinom feng shui. Zbog egzotične i mistične note koju u sebi nosi ovakva zamisao, ona će se vjerojatno mnogima učiniti neozbiljnom, no smatram je dovoljno intrigantnom da privuče pažnju muzeologa i etnologa. Misao, koju iznosim, ukratko glasi da drevna kineska vještina feng shui može poslužiti kao svojevrstan vodič pri osmišljavanju dizajna prostora pa tako i muzejskog postava. Slijedom njezinih postavki, uspješna bi primjena u organiziranju i dekoriranju izložbenog prostora trebala pridonijeti općem pozitivnom dojmu kod publike pa tako i zapaženosti same izložbe.This article presents the idea of food visualization in museums, inspired by the ancient Chinese knowledge of feng shui. Since this idea appears somewhat exotic and mystical, to many it may seem frivolous, but I consider it intriguing enough to draw the attention of museum scientists and ethnologists. The idea that I am presenting here is that the ancient Chinese knowledge of feng shui can serve as a guide in interior decorating, and this could be applied to museum exhibitions as well. Following the guidelines of feng shui and their successful application to organizing and decorating exhibitions, could make a positive impression on the audience and make exhibitions more noted and better-received

Thematic portals Znameniti.hr and EminentPeople.eu – The Challenges and Perspectives of the Virtual Networking of Digital Repositories

Kulturnom i znanstvenom sektoru informacijsko je doba donijelo nove izazove, ali i nove mogućnosti, kako za razvoj tako i za prezentaciju svojih primarnih djelatnosti, zahvaljujući brojnim inovativnim tehnologijama i metodama. Još važnije, otvorilo im je nove mogućnosti umrežavanja putem međuinstitucionalnih i multidisciplinarnih suradničkih projekata, temeljenih na povezivanju istovrsnih potreba, napora i ideja. Cilj je ovoga rada predstaviti i problematizirati mogućnosti suradnje u virtualnom okruženju između srodnih ustanova, okupljenih oko zajedničkoga projekta razvoja suradničkoga portala tematski vezanoga uz znamenite i zaslužne osobe. Projekt ćemo predstaviti kroz njegove tri temeljne razvojne faze: od samoga začetka ideje i pokretanja nacionalnoga pilot-projekta Znameniti i zaslužni Hrvati koji je rezultirao stvaranjem portala Znameniti.hr, preko jednogodišnjega europskog projekta koji je financirao konzorcij DARIAH-ERIC, omogućivši uspostavu regionalne suradnje i kreiranja portala na domeni EminentPeople.eu, do pripreme novoga međunarodnog projekta kroz razmatranja europske perspektive ovoga portala.Thanks to numerous innovative technologies and methods, the Information Age has brought new challenges, but also new opportunities, to the cultural and scientific sector, for both the development and the presentation of its primary activities. More importantly, it paved the way for new networking possibilities through inter-institutional and multidisciplinary collaborative projects, based on linking together analogous needs, efforts, and ideas. The goal of this paper is to present and examine the opportunities for cooperation in a virtual environment between related institutions, gathered around a common project involving the development of a collaborative portal about eminent and meritorious persons. We shall present the project through three basic phases of development: the inception of the idea and the launching of the national pilot project ‘Znameniti i zaslužni Hrvati’ (Eminent Croats) that resulted in the creation of the portal Znameniti.hr; the one-year European project funded by the DARIAH–ERIC consortium that enabled the establishment of regional cooperation and the creating of the portal EminentPeople.eu; and the preparation of a new international project considering the European perspectives of this portal
