Major depressive disorder atau gangguan depresi mayor adalah tipe yang paling umum dari gangguan mood yang dapat di diagnosis. Prevalensi gangguan depresi di Indonesia ada sebanyak 11,60 % dari jumlah penduduk di Indonesia sekitar 24.708.000 jiwa dan 50 % terjadi pada usia 20-50 tahun. WHO mencatat sekitar 121 juta orang di dunia menderita depresi. Dari sejumlah data tersebut hanya 30% penderita depresi yang benar-benar mendapatkan pengobatan yang cukup. Kebanyakan orang yang secara klinis mengidap depresi tetap tidak terdiagnosis dan tidak tertangani atau gagal mendapatkan penanganan yang tepat. Pada penelitian ini, perancangan sistem menggunakan pendekatan berorientasi objek yaitu Unified Modeling Language. Ketidakpastian hasil diagnosa digunakan metode certainty factor untuk menentukan faktor kepastian gejala dan metode fuzzy untuk menentukan tingkat gangguan serta prosentase gangguan. Sistem pakar yang telah dibuat dapat digunakan untuk mendiagnosa depresi, kecemasan dan stress. Dari pengujian yang telah dilakukan, hasil perhitungan diagnosa sistem sesuai dengan hasil perhitungan diagnosa pakar
