A Graphene Field-Effect Device

In this letter, a top-gated field effect device (FED) manufactured from monolayer graphene is investigated. Except for graphene deposition, a conventional top-down CMOS-compatible process flow is applied. Carrier mobilities in graphene pseudo-MOS structures are compared to those obtained from top-gated Graphene-FEDs. The extracted values exceed the universal mobility of silicon and silicon-on-insulator MOSFETs.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure

Asymptotic distribution of linear unbiased estimators in the presence of heavy-tailed stochastic regressors and residuals

Under the symmetric á-stable distributional assumption for the disturbances, Blattberg et al (1971) consider unbiased linear estimators for a regression model with non-stochastic regressors. We consider both the rate of convergence to the true value and the asymptotic distribution of the normalized error of the linear unbiased estimators. Damned if you do and damned if you don't: The (Re)production of larger breasts as ideal in criticisms of breast surgery

The final version is available from Taylor & Francis via the DOI in this record.In contemporary Western societies women are often thought to have overcome inequality, become autonomous and resistant to social pressures, and in so doing gained the freedoms to make their own choices. However, this ‘post-feminist sensibility’ can arguably be seen as a double-bind as some types of ‘choices’ cannot always be recognised as freely chosen if they are taken as an indication of failing to resist social (appearance) pressures. We argue that one such example is the ‘choice’ to have cosmetic breast surgery, a practice that has received both criticism and celebration from different feminist angles. In this paper we analyse how women who have had breast augmentation are constructed by readers of an internet blog in which they are largely vilified and pathologised for not valuing their ‘natural’ (yet ‘deficient’) breasts. We demonstrate how the same discursive constructions that appear to value women’s ‘natural’ bodies simultaneously (re)produce the conditions in which women may feel the need to have breast augmentation

Hyperfine and Optical Barium Ion Qubits

State preparation, qubit rotation, and high fidelity readout are demonstrated for two separate \baseven qubit types. First, an optical qubit on the narrow 6S$_{1/2}$ to 5D$_{5/2}$ transition at 1.76 $\mu$m is implemented. Method of filling databases of electronic components based on the uniform tables of document parameters

Рассматриваются вопросы разработки методики автоматизированного наполнения баз данных электрорадиоизделий, основанной на объединении таблиц параметров нормативного документа. Показаны её основные этапы и особенности. Предложено оформлять связи между параметрами и правило формирования наименования элементов в текстовом файле-шаблоне. Приводится предварительная оценка времени оформления файлов-шаблонов различных нормативных документов. Показано применениеметодики для автоматического наполнения технологических справочников.The problems of the development of the methodology for the automated filling of databases of electronic products based on the integration of the parameters tables of the normative document are considered. Its main stages and features are shown. It is proposed to formalize the relationship between the parameters and the rule for the formation of the names of elements in a text file-template. A preliminary estimate of the time for creating template files for various normative documents is given. The application of the technique for automatic filling oftechnological databases is shown

Measurement of Lande g factor of 5D5/2 state of BaII with a single trapped ion

We present the first terrestrial measurement of the Lande g factor of the 5D5/2 state of singly ionized barium. Measurements were performed on single Doppler-cooled 138Ba+ ions in a linear Paul trap. A frequency-stabilized fiber laser with nominal wavelength 1.762 um was scanned across the 6S1/25D5/2 transition to spectroscopically resolve transitions between Zeeman sublevels of the ground and excited states. From the relative positions of the four narrow transitions observed at several different values for the applied magnetic field, we find a value of 1.2020+/-0.0005 for g of 5D5/2.Comment: 3 figure
