In-Vitro Mutagenic Studies in Solanum Viarum
Somaclonal variation for morphological traits was studied in both control and mutagen (chemicaland physical) treated progenies of two varieties of Solanum viarum. The SC1, SC1M1 (first generation followingtissue culture) and SC2, SC2M2 (second generation) of both 2n and 4n varieties on field evaluation showedbidirectional variation for plant height, plant spread, number of flowers and fruits per node and fresh fruitweight. Variation was more in number of fruits per node and fresh weight in physical mutagen treated progeniesin both the generations. The qualitative variations observed were less spine plants, dwarf plants, sterile planttypes and complete pollen sterility. The frequency of variations was different between varieties to varyingdegrees. SC2 and SC2M2 progenies on evaluation revealed increased variability compared to seed control for allthe traits indicating that these variabilities are not epigenetic in natur
A superior drug carrier – aponeocarzinostatin in partially unfolded state fully protects the labile antitumor enediyne
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Neocarzinostatin is a potent antitumor drug consisting of an enediyne chromophore and a protein carrier.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>We characterized an intermediate in the equilibrium unfolding pathway of aponeocarzinostatin, using a variety of biophysical techniques including 1-anilino-8-napthalene sulfonate binding studies, size-exclusion fast protein liquid chromatography, intrinsic tryptophan fluorescence, circular dichroism, and 1H-15N heteronuclear single quantum coherence spectroscopy.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The partially unfolded protein is in molten globule-like state, in which ~60% and ~20% tertiary and secondary structure is disrupted respectively. Despite lacking a fully coordinated tertiary structure for assembling a functional binding cleft, the protein in molten globule-like state is still able to fully protect the labile chromophore. Titration of chromophore leads the partially denatured apoprotein to fold into its native state.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>These findings bring insight into conserving mechanism of neocarzinostatin under harsh environment, where even the partially denatured apoprotein exhibits protective effect, confirming the superiority of the drug carrier.</p
Boundedness, compactness and Schatten-class membership of weighted composition operators
The boundedness and compactness of weighted composition operators on the
Hardy space of the unit disc is analysed. Particular reference
is made to the case when the self-map of the disc is an inner function.
Schatten-class membership is also considered; as a result, stronger forms of
the two main results of a recent paper of Gunatillake are derived. Finally,
weighted composition operators on weighted Bergman spaces are considered, and the results of Harper and Smith,
linking their properties to those of Carleson embeddings, are extended to this
situation.Comment: 12 page
Inhomogeneous non-Gaussianity
We propose a method to probe higher-order correlators of the primordial
density field through the inhomogeneity of local non-Gaussian parameters, such
as f_NL, measured within smaller patches of the sky. Correlators between
n-point functions measured in one patch of the sky and k-point functions
measured in another patch depend upon the (n+k)-point functions over the entire
sky. The inhomogeneity of non-Gaussian parameters may be a feasible way to
detect or constrain higher-order correlators in local models of
non-Gaussianity, as well as to distinguish between single and multiple-source
scenarios for generating the primordial density perturbation, and more
generally to probe the details of inflationary physics.Comment: 16 pages, 2 figures; v2: Minor changes and references added. Matches

Scale invariance in coarsening of binary and ternary fluids
Phase separation in binary and ternary fluids is studied using a two
dimensional Lattice Gas Automata. The lengths, given by the the first zero
crossing point of the correlation function and the total interface length is
shown to exhibit power law dependence on time. In binary mixtures, our data
clearly indicate the existence of a regime having more than one length scale
where the coarsening process proceeds through the rupture and reassociation of
domains. In ternary fluids; in the case of symmetric mixtures there exists a
regime with a single length scale having dynamic exponent 1/2, while in
asymmetric mixtures our data establish the break down of scale invariance.Comment: 20 pages, 13 figure
Mutated Hilltop Inflation : A Natural Choice for Early Universe
We propose a model of inflation with a suitable potential for a single scalar
field which falls in the wide class of hilltop inflation. We derive the
analytical expressions for most of the physical quantities related to inflation
and show that all of them represent the true behavior as required from a model
of inflation. We further subject the results to observational verification by
formulating the theory of perturbations based on our model followed by an
estimation for the values of those observable parameters. Our model is found to
be in excellent agreement with observational data. Thus, the features related
to the model leads us to infer that this type of hilltop inflation may be a
natural choice for explaining the early universe.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figures, 2 tables. Matches published version in JCA
Non-Gaussianity from false vacuum inflation: Old curvaton scenario
We calculate the three-point correlation function of the comoving curvature
perturbation generated during an inflationary epoch driven by false vacuum
energy. We get a novel false vacuum shape bispectrum, which peaks in the
equilateral limit. Using this result, we propose a scenario which we call "old
curvaton". The shape of the resulting bispectrum lies between the local and the
false vacuum shapes. In addition we have a large running of the spectral index.Comment: 13 pages, 3 figures; v2 with minor revison; v3 final version to

An Inflationary Scenario in Intersecting Brane Models
We propose a new scenario for D-term inflation which appears quite
straightforwardly in the open string sector of intersecting brane models. We
take the inflaton to be a chiral field in a bifundamental representation of the
hidden sector and we argue that a sufficiently flat potential can be brane
engineered. This type of model generically predicts a near gaussian red
spectrum with negligible tensor modes. We note that this model can very
naturally generate a baryon asymmetry at the end of inflation via the recently
proposed hidden sector baryogenesis mechanism. We also discuss the possibility
that Majorana masses for the neutrinos can be simultaneously generated by the
tachyon condensation which ends inflation. Our proposed scenario is viable for
both high and low scale supersymmetry breaking.Comment: 30 pages, 2 figures; v2 references and comments adde
Geometric effects on T-breaking in p+ip and d+id superconductors
Superconducting order parameters that change phase around the Fermi surface
modify Josephson tunneling behavior, as in the phase-sensitive measurements
that confirmed order in the cuprates. This paper studies Josephson coupling
when the individual grains break time-reversal symmetry; the specific cases
considered are and , which may appear in SrRuO and
NaCoO(HO) respectively. -breaking order parameters
lead to frustrating phases when not all grains have the same sign of
time-reversal symmetry breaking, and the effects of these frustrating phases
depend sensitively on geometry for 2D arrays of coupled grains. These systems
can show perfect superconducting order with or without macroscopic
-breaking. The honeycomb lattice of superconducting grains has a
superconducting phase with no spontaneous breaking of but instead power-law
correlations. The superconducting transition in this case is driven by binding
of fractional vortices, and the zero-temperature criticality realizes a
generalization of Baxter's three-color model.Comment: 8 page
