Some methods of numerical integration over a semi-infinite interval

    Get PDF
summary:The authors utilize some methods of numerical integration over a finite interval (Clenshaw and Curtic 1960, Filippi 1964, Basu 1971) to solve the quadrature problems over a semi-infinite interval. Technique similar to that presented in the authors' previous paper (Appl. mat. 20 (1975), pp. 216 to 221) has been adopted

Increasing Efficiency of Recommendation System using Big Data Analysis

    Get PDF
In the present Digital Space a lot of Internet users try to come up with solutions to a particular problem by suggesting solutions that are pre-existing on the Internet. This brings down the originality of posts and we are able to overcome this problem by applying prediction models on data sets. It is important for a user to come up with original ideas to gain up votes which in turn represent the quality of a post. Due to the huge influx of data at every moment, the need for big data analytics becomes essential and hence the use of an open source framework like Hadoop is imperative so as to increase effectiveness of recommender system built on these prediction models

Accurate Tracking of Manoeuvring Target using Scale Estimation and Detection

    Get PDF
Camera zoom operation and fast approaching/receding target causes scaling of acquired target in video frames. Fast moving target manifests in large inter-frame motion. In general, non-uniform background degrades performance of tracking algorithms. Fast Fourier transform (FFT)-based Correlation algorithms improve tracking in this scenario, but their applications is limited to small inter-frame motion. Increasing search region has implication on execution speed of the algorithms. Rapid target scaling, non-uniform background and large inter-frame motion of target hinder accurate and long term visual tracking. These challenges have been addressed for extended target tracking by augmenting fast discriminative scale space tracking (fDSST) algorithm with probable target location prediction and target detection. Localisation of fast motion has been achieved by applying fused outputs of Kalman filter and quadratic regression based prediction before applying fDSST. It has helped in accurate localisation of fast motion without increasing search region. In each frame, target location and size have been estimated using fDSST and further refined by target detection near this location. Smoothing and limiting of trajectory and size of detected target has enhanced tracking performance. Experimental results show considerable improvement of precision, success rate and centre location error tracking performance against state-of-the-art trackers in stringent conditions

Production economics and resource use efficiency of tomato under open field condition in Kapilvastu, Nepal

A study was conducted in Kapilvastu district with an objective to analyze the production economics and resource use efficiency of tomato production under open field condition. Altogether ninety tomato growers were purposely selected for household survey. Primary data were collected using pre-tested interviews and focus group discussion with tomato farmers and stakeholders. Data was analyzed using SPSS and STATA, and socio-demographic characteristics, Cobb-Douglas production function and resource use efficiency of the tomato farmers was studied. The tomato production in the studied site was found to be a labor-intensive venture as cost incurred for labor was about 39 percent of the total cost with gross margin of NRs. 7255.10 per kattha and net profit of NRs. 5464.1 per kattha. Cobb-Douglas production function analysis showed positive and significant relationship of cost on labor, seed, farm yard manure, inorganic fertilizer and micronutrients and other associated expenses with the gross income. The returns to scale of 1.02 indicated increasing returns to scale whereas resource use efficiency values indicated all input resources were underutilized in tomato production

Trends in Sighting Systems for Combat Vehicles

Search and tracking in dynamic condition, rapid re-targeting, precision pointing and long range engagement in day and night condition are core requisite of stabilised sighting systems used for combat vehicles. Complex battle field requires integrated fire control system with stabilised sighting system as its main constituent. It facilitates quick reaction to fire control system and provides vital edge in the battlefield scenario. Precision gimbal design, optics design, embedded engineering, control system, electro-optical sensors, target detection and tracking, panorama generation, auto-alerting, digital image stabilisation, image fusion and integration are important aspects of sighting system development. In this paper, design considerations for a state of art stabilised sighting system have been presented including laboratory and field evaluation methods for such systems

Clinical Profile and Outcome of Conservatively Managed Emphysematous Pyelonephritis

    Get PDF
Emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) is a severe, necrotizing renal parenchymal infection characterized by production of intraparenchymal gas. EPN predominantly affects female diabetics and immunocompromised patients. In a three-year period 2008–2011, a total of 8 patients were admitted to our hospital. All of them were diabetics, and both males and females were equally affected. These patients showed vague symptoms at admission and frequently presented with fever, loin pain, dysuria, and pyuria necessitating urgent medical attention. EPN required radiological diagnosis. CT scan revealed bilateral EPN with urinary obstruction and hydronephrosis in 50% of patients. Escherichia coli was found to be the causative organism in all the patients. Treatment comprised of resuscitation, normalization of serum electrolytes and blood sugars, administration of parenteral antibiotics, and relieving ureteric obstruction if present. All the patients improved with conservative management without any mortality
