26 July 2019 Today’s work started with some physical activities. After about ten minutes of activity, we were tired and sat down in a circle. Twenty-five children were present, out of which sixteen were new admissions. I was introduced to some children yesterday, but it was not possible to remember their names in just a day. Today many new faces were also there, so it was necessary to know their names and have their introduction first. I introduced myself by stating my name and told them that they can call me ‘Gajendra teacher’. Then I said, ‘You know my name but if I want to call you, how shall I call you? So, if you tell me your name, then I can call you by your name’. I said these things very naturally. So many children felt the need to tell their names. I could not believe that on the very first day something like this would happen, I did not even finish my sentence and the children stood up and started telling their names one by one. All these children had come to this school just today. I was quite surprised; it was for the first time in my teaching career that so many children were telling their names by themselves without any coercion

An unusual presentation of postauricular swelling: cholesterol granuloma

Post auricular swellings are not uncommon encounterances in surgical practice. Common differential diagnosis would include dermoid and lymph nodes. Cholesterol granulomas are cystic swellings formed with a multi-nucleated giant cell reaction to red blood cells’ breakdown products, haemosiderin and cholesterol crystals. Any aerated portion of the temporal bone may develop a cholesterol granuloma; the mastoid air cells are the most common location and are the most common cystic lesion of the petrous apex. This is the first, unique and rare case of post auricular presentation of a cholesterol granuloma. 21-year-old female presented with a painless swelling behind the left ear from last four years. The radiological examination revealed a left-sided, soft-tissue mass extending into the posterior fossa. She underwent a surgical exploration and complete resection was achieved. The histopathological and radiological features were consistent with a cholesterol granuloma. Authors have seen first case of a mastoid cholesterol granuloma presented as a postauricular swelling. This case illustrates the need to consider cholesterol granuloma in daily clinical practice. Otologists should be aware of uncharacteristic invasive cholesterol granulomas of the mastoid, which require aggressive surgical obliteration

Compound 4e’ is more potentially active than other compounds and standard drugs. The structure configuration of newly synthesized compounds has been determined by elemental analysis and various spectroscopic (IR, 1H and 13CNMR and GCMS) techniques

Synthesis, structural characterization and biological aspects of divalent transition metal complexes derived from 2, 5 diacetry furan and 2-thia-6-aza-bicyclo [4.2.0]oct-4-en-7-one based schiff base.

Biologically active dinuclear complexes [M2(C44H52N20O2S8)X4] of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) with Schiff base ligand (C22H26N10OS4) got through the buildup of 2,5 diethylidene furan bis (thiocarbohydrazide) with 2-thia-6-aza-bicyclo[4.2.0]oct-4-en-7-one. The recently orchestrated Schiff base and its metal derivatives have been basically portrayed with the assistance of elemental analysis, condensation measurement, magnetic measurement and their structure configuration explain with the help of different spectroscopic (electronic, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, GCMS) systems. The electronic spectra of the metal complexes (metal ligand derivatives) demonstrate an octahedral geometry of the middle metal ion. These ligand and its metal derivatives were screened for their Antioxidant and antimicrobial hindering potential and compared with standard medications butylated hydroxyanisol (free radical searching active), Imipenem (antibacterial) and Miconazole (antifungal). [Ni2(C44H52N20O2S8)(OAc)4] demonstrates best antimicrobial action against the contemplated microorganism, and [Cu2(C44H52N20O2S8)(OAc)4] demonstrates the best free radical searching action

A Pilot Study Indicating Valuation of C‑Reactive Protein for Disease Outcome in Sickle Hemoglobin Patients of Central India

Evidences support the fact that sickle cell disease (SCD) is associated with a chronic inflammatory state characterized by haemolysis. C-reactive protein level (CRP) and white blood cell (WBC) count considered as biomarkers for inflammation. Also, elevation of serum total lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels are found to be associated with haemolysis, this makes LDH a nonspecific marker which has to be interpreted in a context of other markers of disease. The present study aims to assess the role of CRP levels, WBC counts, RBC counts, haemoglobin (Hb) concentrations and LDH levels in sickle hemoglobin (HbS) patients. Blood samples of 10 HbS patients (six females and four males) attending M.Y. Hospital, Indore during the period of Aug to Oct 2019 were screened for CRP, LDH and Hb levels and RBC and WBC counts using latex enhanced immune-turbidimetric assay, LDH optimize DGKC kinetic and differential automated hematology analyzer respectively. Data (mean ± SEM) was analyzed using Graphpad Prism software using Tukey’s multiple comparison post-hoc test. The mean Hb levels (7.73 ± 0.81 g/dl) and RBC counts (3.21 ± 0.53 million/µl) were found to be significantly decreased (p˂ 0.001 and 0.01 respectively) and mean WBC counts (15214.28 ± 1893.40 per mm3), CRP levels (85.73 ± 23.23 mg/l) and LDH levels (1334.00 ± 418.49 U/l) were found to be significantly increased (p˂ 0.0001, 0.01 and 0.01 respectively) in HbS patients in comparison with their respective controls. The variations in serum LDH and CRP levels are accompanied by changes in hematological parameters in HbS patients. These parameters may be considered as indicator of the severity of the disease. Erenumab aooe: a milestone for the preventive treatment of migraine

Migraine is a complex neurological condition, which can affect the whole body and can result in many symptoms as nausea, vomiting, photophobia (Increased sensitivity to light), phonobhobia (Increased sensitivity to sound) and osmophobia (Increased sensitivity to smell). Neurological symptoms that include visual disturbances such as blind spots, distorted vision, flashing lights or zigzag patterns. Other common symptoms includes- dizziness, vertigo, tingling sensations in the limbs, an inability to concentrate, confusion, difficulty in speaking, paralysis or loss of consciousness (in very rare cases). These symptoms, often called ‘aura’. Migraine attacks may differ in their frequency, duration and severity, although, normally they last between 4 and 72 hours, and most people are symptom-free between attacks. There are many drugs for the treatment of acute attack of migraine which can be divided into mild, moderate and severe attacks. In mild case NSAIDs like Paracetamol, Ibuprofen are prescribed. In moderate cases Anti-emetics like metoclopramide, domperidone can be prescribe with combinations of NSAIDs or triptans as sumatriptan. In case of severe cases triptans can be prescribed with ergot alkaloids and antiemetics. Following drugs are prescribed for the prophylaxis of migraine as sodium valproate, amitriptyline (Tricyclic antidepressant), propranolol and metoprolol (beta blockers). Erenumab-aooe is a calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor antagonist. It is specifically indicated for the preventative treatment of migraine in adults. Erenumab-aooe is supplied as an injection for subcutaneous use. The recommended dosage is 70 mg injected subcutaneously once monthly. Some patients may benefit from a dosage of 140 mg injected subcutaneously once monthly, which is administered as two consecutive subcutaneous injections of 70 mg each. Erenumab-aooe is a human monoclonal antibody that binds to the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor and antagonizes CGRP receptor function

Generalized Ratio-cum-Product Estimator for Finite Population Mean under Two-Phase Sampling Scheme

A method to lower the MSE of a proposed estimator relative to the MSE of the linear regression estimator under two-phase sampling scheme is developed. Estimators are developed to estimate the mean of the variate under study with the help of auxiliary variate (which are unknown but it can be accessed conveniently and economically). The mean square errors equations are obtained for the proposed estimators. In addition, optimal sample sizes are obtained under the given cost function. The comparison study has been done to set up conditions for which developed estimators are more effective than other estimators with novelty. The empirical study is also performed to supplement the claim that the developed estimators are more efficient

An Approach for Solving Multiple Travelling Salesman Problem using Ant Colony Optimization

Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) is a heuristic algorithm which has been proven a successful technique and applied to a number of combinatorial optimization (CO) problems. The traveling salesman problem (TSP) is one of the most important combinatorial problems. Multiple traveling salesman problem (MTSP) is a typical computationally complex combinatorialOptimization problem, which is an extension of the famous traveling salesman problem (TSP). The paper proposed an approach to show how the ant colony optimization (ACO) can be applied to the MTSP with ability constraint. There are several reasons for the choice of the TSP as the problem to explain the working of ACO algorithms: it is an important NP-hard optimization problem that arises in several applications; it is a problem to which ACO algorithms are easily applied; it is easily understandable, so that the algorithm behavior is not obscured by too many technicalities; and it is a standard test bed for new algorithmic ideas as a good performance on the TSP is often taken as a proof of their usefulness. Play activities for the first day of school

Children learn very easily when they are having fun. So, when a play activity is conducted with the aim of purposefully teaching something, the pace and result of learning increase manifold. Play can be used for teaching new and difficult concepts easily, in a short time and in an interesting way. One only needs to keep in mind that any play activity that is used is purposeful, well planned and well prepared. Play activities are important and necessary for very young children (in the age group of 3-8 years). Schools work in different areas of development through various play activities.
