Unusual presentation of choriocarcinoma
BACKGROUND: Choriocarcinoma is an aggressive neoplasm arising in the body of the uterus. The disease normally spreads to lung and brain. CASE REPORT: A case of malignant trophoblastic disease with brain metastasis, raised intra cranial pressure and small bowel metastasis presenting with acute abdomen is reported. CONCLUSIONS: Malignant transformation in a hydatidiform mole is rare event. Involvement of gastrointestinal tract is rarer even in presence of disseminated disease. Surgery is the treatment of choice for gastrointestinal complications
Anticancer effects of pH- sensitive carvacrol zinc oxide quantum dots on DMBA induced mammary carcinoma in female sprague dawley rats
Objectives: The current research explores the anticancer effects of pH sensitive CVC-ZnO QDs (Carvacrol-loaded Zinc Oxide Quantum Dots) on DMBA induced mammary carcinoma in rats. Methods: Female SD rats were used, and mammary cancer was induced by chemical carcinogen via subcutaneous injection near the mammary gland. Different concentrations of CVC-ZnO QDs were orally supplemented to evaluate the optimum dose. We assessed the growth rate, body weight changes, tumor volume, tumor incidence and tumor burden in both the inducer and treatment groups. We also evaluated the biochemical parameters (antioxidant status, lipid peroxidation, detoxification enzymes, and lipid profile) and histopathological changes in the kidney and mammary tissues. Results: Our findings indicate that CVC-ZnO QDs treated rats significantly decreased the tumor weight, incidence, burden, lipid peroxidation levels, phase I detoxification enzyme activities and increased the body weight, phase II detoxification enzyme activities, and antioxidant status compared to the DMBA alone treated rats. CVC-ZnO QDs treatment also altered the lipid profile of plasma and mammary tissue. Furthermore, histopathological results confirmed that the CVC-ZnO QDs protect against DMBA-mediated damage to the mammary and kidney. Conclusion: The findings indicate that the CVC-ZnO QDs administered at 4Â mg/kg b.w exhibited a significant anticancer effect against DMBA-induced mammary cancer
Demonstration of submicron-gate AlGaN/GaN high-electron-mobility transistors on silicon with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor-compatible non-gold metal stack
We have demonstrated 0.15-µm-gate-length AlGaN/GaN high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) with direct-current (DC) and microwave performances for the first time using a complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS)-compatible non-gold metal stack. Si/Ta-based ohmic contact exhibited low contact resistance (Rc=0.24 Ω.mm) with smooth surface morphology. The fabricated GaN HEMTs exhibited gmmax=250 mS/mm, fT/fmax=39/39 GHz, B Vgd=90 V, and drain current collapse <10%. The device Johnson's figure of merit (J-FOM = fT × B Vgd) is in the range between 3.51 to 3.83 THz.V which are comparable to those of other reported GaN HEMTs on Si with a conventional III–V gold-based ohmic contact process. Our results demonstrate the feasibility of realizing high-performance submicron GaN-on-silicon HEMTs using a Si CMOS-compatible metal stack.Accepted versio
