The World Spider Trait database: a centralized global open repository for curated data on spider traits

Spiders are a highly diversified group of arthropods and play an important role in terrestrial ecosystems as ubiquitous predators, which makes them a suitable group to test a variety of eco-evolutionary hypotheses. For this purpose, knowledge of a diverse range of species traits is required. Until now, data on spider traits have been scattered across thousands of publications produced for over two centuries and written in diverse languages. To facilitate access to such data, we developed an online database for archiving and accessing spider traits at a global scale. The database has been designed to accommodate a great variety of traits (e.g. ecological, behavioural and morphological) measured at individual, species or higher taxonomic levels. Records are accompanied by extensive metadata (e.g. location and method). The database is curated by an expert team, regularly updated and open to any user. A future goal of the growing database is to include all published and unpublished data on spider traits provided by experts worldwide and to facilitate broad cross-taxon assays in functional ecology and comparative biology.Fil: Pekár, Stano. The question of investing a lot of money by business entities in the development and operation of information systems in comparison with their economic gains is a long-term problem, depending on several factors. The problem is being solved by many authors as well as company's experts in information technologies. From analysis of heavy expenses of the information systems in the agriculture sector, conclusions can be drawn about financial gain from these systems used in different conditions of agricultural production, among which are cost amount, quantification of economic gain and assessment of risks that may cause the information system collapse. Using the coefficient of economic efficiency of an information system, it is possible to determine in particular companies what sort of quantified effects can be attained (a plan) or have been attained (reality) per Slovak koruna of expanded one-time investment. A number of years that this investment needs repaying can be calculated by the indicator of a period of return on investment in the company's information system

Quality information and information services have nowadays a strategic economic and social importance. State management, management of large and small business entities in the information society is based on quality information. One of the goals of medium term agricultural policy for the years 2004-2006 is to finish and harmonise the information system of the sector. Une enquête sur la prévention des naissances et le plan familial en Tchécoslovaquie

Les renseignements ont longtemps manqué sur la démographie des républiques populaires socialistes, tant pour les chiffres que pour les concepts. Depuis quelques années, une phase nouvelle s'est ouverte, pour les recherches comme pour les publications. En Tchécoslovaquie, en particulier, l'Office national de statistique publie une revue trimestrielle « Demografie », dont les articles et documents sont pleins d'intérêt. Une enquête sur le mariage, la contraception et l'avortement a été commencée en 1958. Les résultats de cette enquête (qui, pratiquée sur un sujet si réservé jusque-là, marquait elle-même une date) ont été publiés dans les numéros 1 à 4 de la revue en 1961, par Vladimir Srb, Milan Kučera et Dagmar VysuŠilova. Les difficultés de langue n'avaient pas permis jusqu'ici à l'I.N.E.D. de donner une analyse de cette importante enquête. Elles ont pu être surmontées grâce à la présence de M. Z. Pavlik, démographe tchèque, qui a fait un stage à l'I.N.E.D. en 1963.
