    Get PDF
This paper presents the composition of the city councils in the Vilayet of Bosnia between 1866 and 1875, from the provincial administration reform until the Herzegovinian uprising. An additional reason for choosing the year 1866 as the initial year is the fact that the yearbooks for the Vilayet of Bosnia started to be published in that year. The central questions of the paper are the religious and social affiliation of the city councils members, as well as the rate of implementation of the principle of electoral equality. Additionally, this paper aims to answer whether, and at what rate, the composition of the city councils in the Vilayet of Bosnia was in line with the 1871 law regulations

In natural gas remote reading, a large amount of data is collected, posing a problem of storing and processing such data to the companies involved. Two major technologies have recently appeared, becoming a de facto standard in processing large amounts of data, i.e., data warehousing and big data. Each of these technologies provides different data processing techniques. In this paper, serial data processing and parallel data processing are considered in data warehousing and big data, respectively. The paper analyzes the feasibility of implementing new technologies for processing a large amount of data generated by remote reading of natural gas consumption. The research conducted in this paper was made in collaboration with a local natural gas distribution company. A comparison of potential software vendors has shown that Qlik offers the best software package for the requirements provided by the local natural gas distribution company. Comparison results have also shown that other potential vendors also offer software packages of good quality

Requirements of digital libraries for computing power, as well as needs of smaller users for automated document processing and digitization are growing, making grid environments and multi-core systems a preferred platform for optical character recognition applications. This paper examines character recognition performance on the CRO-NGI grid and on two multi-core systems by using from a single core up to all available cores. In addition, different models of load distribution on processing units are used. Comparison of the processing speed and the recognition accuracy is conducted. A developed optical character recognition application for parallel environments is used to obtain the results

Due to ibuprofen (IBP) wide application, high consumption, relatively fast metabolism and elimination from the organism, it represents a potential risk for our environment. Chlorine dioxide, as a strong oxidizing agent, has been shown to be a good reagent for removing certain groups of pesticides from food and water, as well as for degradation of certain drugs. The aim of this study was to find optimal conditions for IBP removal from water using chlorine dioxide. Degradation of IBP of different concentrations (10, 20, 35 and 60 mg/L) with different concentrations of chlorine dioxide (5, 10 and 15 mg/L) at pH values of 3.00, 7.00 and 10.00 and at different reaction times (0.5 h, 1 h, 2 h, 3 h, 6 h, 24 h), was investigated. The results of HPLC - DAD analysis showed that IBP can be effectively removed from water. The highest degradation efficiency of 99% was achieved when the concentration of IBP in water was 10 mg/L, and the solution was treated with 15 mg/L of chlorine dioxide at pH 10.00 after 24 h of chlorine dioxide treatment

Measurement of the B+ Production Cross Section in pp Collisions at root s=7 TeV

    Get PDF
Measurements of the total and differential cross sections d sigma/dp(T)(B) and d sigma/dy(B) for B+ mesons produced in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV are presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.8 pb(-1) collected by the CMS experiment operating at the LHC. The exclusive decay B+ - GT J/psi K+, with J/psi - GT mu(+)mu(-), is used to detect B+ mesons and to measure the production cross section as a function of p(T)(B) and y(B). The total cross section for p(T)(B) GT 5 GeV and vertical bar y(B)vertical bar LT 2.4 is measured to be 28.1 +/- 2.4 +/- 2.0 +/- 3.1 mu b, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the last is from the luminosity measurement

Search for gluino mediated bottom- and top-squark production in multijet final states in pp collisions at 8 TeV

    Get PDF
A search for supersymmetry is presented based on events with large missing transverse energy, no isolated electron or muon, and at least three jets with one or more identified as a bottom-quark jet. A simultaneous examination is performed of the numbers of events in exclusive bins of the scalar sum of jet transverse momentum values, missing transverse energy, and bottom-quark jet multiplicity. The sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.4 fb(-1), consists of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2012. The observed numbers of events are found to be consistent with the standard model expectation, which is evaluated with control samples in data. The results are interpreted in the context of two simplified supersymmetric scenarios in which gluino pair production is followed by the decay of each gluino to an undetected lightest supersymmetric particle and either a bottom or top quark-antiquark pair, characteristic of gluino mediated bottom- or top-squark production. Using the production cross section calculated to next-to-leading-Order plus next-to-leading-logarithm accuracy, and in the limit of a massless lightest supersymmetric particle, we exclude gluinos with masses below 1170 GeV and 1020 GeV for the two scenarios, respectively. Search for the standard model Higgs boson decaying to bottom quarks in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV

    Get PDF
A search for the standard model Higgs boson (H) decaying to (b) over barb when produced in association with weak vector bosons (V) is reported for the following modes: W(mu nu)H, W(e nu)H, Z(mu mu)H, Z(ee)H and Z(nu nu)H. The search is performed in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb(-1), recorded by the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at the LHC with a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. No significant excess of events above the expectation from background is observed. Upper limits on the VH production cross section times the H - GT b (b) over bar branching ratio, with respect to the expectations for a standard model Higgs boson, are derived for a Higgs boson in the mass range 110-135 GeV. In this range, the observed 95% confidence level upper limits vary from 3.4 to 7.5 times the standard model prediction; the corresponding expected limits vary from 2.7 to 6.7 times the standard model prediction. Measurement of the Inclusive Jet Cross Section in pp Collisions at root s=7 TeV

    Get PDF
The inclusive jet cross section is measured in pp collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider using the CMS experiment. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 34 pb(-1). The measurement is made for jet transverse momenta in the range 18-1100 GeV and for absolute values of rapidity less than 3. The measured cross section extends to the highest values of jet p(T) ever observed and, within the experimental and theoretical uncertainties, is generally in agreement with next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD predictions
