Protestation et résistance. Du critère de distinction

Cet article démontre qu’un type de contestation non violente s’est acclimatée en République fédérale d’Allemagne entre le mouvement des étudiants de 1968 et les mouvements pacifiques des années 1980. L’auteur analyse les conceptions développées par Peter Schneider, Jürgen Habermas, Henry David Thoreau, Hannah Arendt et John Rawls afin de définir les concepts d’« infraction restreinte », de « protestation », « désobéissance civile », « résistance » et leur réception en Allemagne.This paper aims at showing that a certain type of non-violent protest emerged in the Federal Republic of Germany between the 1968 student movement and the peace movement of the 1980’s. The author looks into the work of Peter Schneider, Henry David Thoreau, Hannah Arendt and John Rawls in order to define the concepts of “restricted infringement”, “protest”, “civil disobedience” and “resistance” as well as their reception in Germany

PEDOT–CNT Composite Microelectrodes for Recording and Electrostimulation Applications: Fabrication, Morphology, and Electrical Properties

Composites of carbon nanotubes and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene, PEDOT) and layers of PEDOT are deposited onto microelectrodes by electropolymerization of ethylenedioxythiophene in the presence of a suspension of carbon nanotubes and polystyrene sulfonate. Analysis by FIB and SEM demonstrates that CNT–PEDOT composites exhibit a porous morphology whereas PEDOT layers are more compact. Accordingly, capacitance and charge injection capacity of the composite material exceed those of pure PEDOT layers. In vitro cell culture experiments reveal excellent biocompatibility and adhesion of both PEDOT and PEDOT–CNT electrodes. Signals recorded from heart muscle cells demonstrate the high S/N ratio achievable with these electrodes. Long-term pulsing experiments confirm stability of charge injection capacity. In conclusion, a robust fabrication procedure for composite PEDOT–CNT electrodes is demonstrated and results show that these electrodes are well suited for stimulation and recording in cardiac and neurophysiological research

Who protests in Greece? Mass opposition to austerity

The widespread opposition to unprecedented austerity measures in Greece provides a unique opportunity to study the causes of mass protest. We report the results of a survey of the adult population, with two thirds of the respondents supporting protest and 29 per cent reporting actual involvements in strikes and/or demonstrations during 2010. Relative deprivation is a significant predictor of potential protest but does not play any role in terms of who actually takes part in strikes or demonstrations. Previous protest participation emerges as a key predictor of actual protest. We attempt to set these results in the context of Greece as compared with other countries facing similar challenges and discuss the implications for the future of austerity politics

Zwischen Popkultur, Politik und Zeitgeschichte: Von der Schwierigkeit, die RAF zu historisieren

Debatte, Konflikt, Affäre, Gesinnungsstreit - noch immer gibt es keinen allseits akzeptierten Begriff zur Kennzeichnung dessen, was im Sommer 2003 mehr als nur die Feuilletons in Aufregung versetzt hat. Die „Bild“-Zeitung hatte eines Morgens "Skandal" gerufen, und (beinahe) alle folgten. Was am ersten Tag noch "Skandal-Ausstellung" hieß, das wurde bereits am Tag darauf als "Terror-Ausstellung" bezeichnet - mit dem suggestiven Unterton, dass sich ein kulturelles Unternehmen vielleicht selbst in ein Instrument des Terrorismus verwandelt haben könnte. Die Reaktionsmuster ähnelten in mancher Hinsicht denen aus der Zeit der sogenannten Mescalero-Affäre. Doch diese ereignete sich auf dem Scheitelpunkt der RAF-Geschichte und liegt inzwischen mehr als ein Vierteljahrhundert zurück - ein Zeitraum, in dem sich nicht nur die weltpolitischen Koordinaten gravierend verschoben haben, sondern sich die besagte Gruppierung, an deren weiterer Existenz längst Zweifel aufgekommen waren, auch offiziell aufgelöst hat
