New type of ensemble of quasi-periodic, long-lasting VLF emissions at the auroral zone

    Get PDF
A new type of the series of quasi-periodic (QP) very low frequency (VLF) emissions in frequency range of 1–5 kHz, and not associated with geomagnetic pulsations, has been discovered at auroral latitudes (<I>L</I> = 5.3) during the Finnish VLF campaign (held in December 2011). At least five unusually spectacular events, each with a duration of several hours, have been observed during the night under conditions of quiet geomagnetic activity (Kp = 0–1), although QPs usually occur during the daytime. Contrary to the QP emissions typically occurring during the day, the spectral structure of these QP events represented an extended, complicated sequence of repeated discrete rising VLF signals. Their duration was about 2–3 min each, with the repetition periods ranging from ~1 min to ~10 min. Two such nighttime non-typical events are reported in this paper. The fine structure of the separated QP elements may represent a mixture of the different frequency band signals, which seem to have independent origins. It was found that the periodic signals with lower frequency appear to trigger the strong dispersive upper frequency signals. The temporal dynamics of the spectral structure of the QPs studied were significantly controlled by some disturbances in the solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field (IMF). This finding is very important for future theoretical investigations because the generation mechanism of this new type of QP emissions is not yet understood

On the peculiarities of experiencing the loss of a spouse by women of different age categories

The process of experiencing the loss of a spouse is called one of the most difficult life shocks. Often this period is quite long and includes overcoming and processing feelings such as guilt, confusion, fear, and others. Also, grieving for a spouse can cause serious damage to mental and physical health. The mourning associated with the loss of a spouse is a process in which it is possible to identify features, that is, what distinguishes it from other similar emotional shocks (loss of a friend, close relative). The specificity of experiencing the loss of a spouse, in particular, is expressed in the fact that not only the individual characteristics of a woman, but also the social and age characteristics of her personality are of great importance

Influence of Filler Metals in Welding Wires on the Phase and Chemical Composition of Weld Metal

    Get PDF
The influence of filler metals used in welding wires on the phase and chemical composition of the metal, which is surfaced to mining equipment exposed to abrasive wear, has been investigated. Under a laboratory environment, samples of Mo-V-B and Cr-Mn-Mo-V wires were made. The performed experiments have revealed that fillers of the Cr-Mn-Mo-V system used in powder wire show better wear resistance of the weld metal than that of the Mn-Mo-V-B system; the absence of boron, which promotes grain refinement in the Mn-Mo-V-B system, significantly reduces wear resistance; the Mn-Mo-V-B weld metal has a finer structure than the Cr-Mn-Mo-V weld metal

The narrative approach to the problem of personal identity

    Get PDF
The article deals with the problem of personality identity. First, I consider the main approaches to this problem, i.e. a psychological approach and a somatic approach. Second, I present an alternative approach – a narrative one – and discuss its benefits. To specify the narrative approach, I examine the concept of the «center of narrative gravity».В статье рассмотрена проблема тождества личности, основные подходы к ее решению: психологический и соматический. Также описан нарративный подход к решению данной проблемы и его преимущества перед остальными. Рассмотрено понятие «центр нарративной гравитации»

Aim. The research was designed for clinical and laboratory characteristics and treatment of respiratory mycoplasma pneumonia in adult patients hospitalized to the infectious diseases hospital of the city of Krasnodar.Materials and methods. The frequency of occurrence and the nature of the clinical symptoms confirmed by ELISA analysis of mycoplasma pneumonia in 35 patients, who were treated in the State Budgetary Establishment of Public Health Services “Specialized Clinical Infectious Hospital” of Krasnodar, were retrospectively analyzed.Results.Mycoplasma pneumonia in hospitalized patients of Krasnodar is more common in young men during the cold season and occurs in moderate form. When ranking the clinical symptoms, it has been established that the priority signs of the disease are acute onset, febrile temperature, symptoms of lesions of the upper respiratory tract, increased CRP, dry coughing and relative monocytosis in the general blood test that can be considered the suggestive symptoms of the disease. Antimicrobial drugs from the macrolide, fluorinated quinolone and tetracycline groups, either as a monotherapy or in the combination, were prescribed for the patients with mycoplasma pneumonia.Conclusion. The frequency of occurrence and the absence of pathognomonic symptoms of mycoplasma pneumonia make it advisable to include an enzyme immunoassay for antibodies to “atypical” pathogens in the examination algorithm of patients with any pneumonia, which will provide more accurate diagnosis and correction of etiotropic therapy
