Problems and mechanisms of sustainable development of rural areas (at the example of the Republic of Mordovia)

Sustainable development of rural areas is a priority in today's Russia, as evidenced by the system of regulations adopted in 2010-2015. Measures of government regulation aimed at ensuring food security and improving the living standards of the rural population include activities for the growth and modernization of agricultural production, development of the market of agricultural raw materials and food, as well as expansion and strengthening of the network of rural social infrastructure. These measures which are actively used since 2006, have failed to overcome the crisis processes in most regions, which indicates the need for revision of rural development policy. In the article the need for differentiation of government support in accordance with the typology of rural areas, considering the potential and the level of social, economic and environmental development is argued. The system of indicators and an integrated approach to assessing the sustainability of rural areas are suggested. The proposals for additional measures to support the depressed rural areas are suggested.peer-reviewe

Interpretations of the NuTeV sin2θW\sin^2 \theta_W

We summarize theoretical explanations of the three σ\sigma discrepancy between sin2θW\sin^2 \theta_W measured by NuTeV and predicted by the Standard Model global fit. Possible new physics explanations ({\it e.g.} an unmized ZZ') are not compelling. The discrepancy would be reduced by a positive momentum asymmetry ss^- in the strange sea; present experimental estimates of ss^- are unreliable or incomplete. Upgrading the NuTeV analysis to NLO would alleviate concerns that the discrepancy is a QCD effect.Comment: (proceedings for the NuFact'02 Workshop); reference and footnote added, following the NuTeV proceeding

The Pulsar Wind Nebula Around PSR B1853+01 in the Supernova Remnant W44

We present radio observations of a region in the vicinity of the young pulsar PSR B1853+01 in the supernova remnant W44. The pulsar is located at the apex of an extended feature with cometary morphology. We argue on the basis of its morphology and its spectral index and polarization properties that this is a synchrotron nebula produced by the spin down energy of the pulsar. The geometry and physical parameters of this pulsar-powered nebula and W44 are used to derive three different measures of the pulsar's transverse velocity. A range of estimates between 315 and 470 km/s are derived, resulting in a typical value of 375 km/s. The observed synchrotron spectrum from radio to X-ray wavelengths is used to put constraints on the energetics of the nebula and to derive the parameters of the pulsar wind.Comment: ApJ Let (in press

PERSONAL ASPECT OF MEDICAL STUDENTS’ TRAINING BASED ON UNDERSTANDING OF PSYCHOLOGICAL DIFFICULTIES OF THE PROFESSION

The article investigates the issues of psychological difficulties prevention in the medical profession in the training of medical students. The paper substantiates the arguments for strengthening the personal aspect of medical students’ training based on understanding the ideas about difficulties in the work of a doctor. The authors reveal the interrelation between personal characteristics of students (conscientiousness, understanding of emotions, benevolence, etc.) and their ideas about the nature of difficulties in the chosen specialty at the stage of training. The study presents the main directions of students’ understanding of such difficulties. The article describes strategies for supporting students based on the correlations of personal characteristics and the above-mentioned ideas, aimed at mastering a confident behavior by students. The proposed strategies can be of interest to teachers of courses related to ethical issues of the profession, as well as in individual work with medical students
