Liouville integrability of a class of integrable spin Calogero-Moser systems and exponents of simple Lie algebras

In previous work, we introduced a class of integrable spin Calogero-Moser systems associated with the classical dynamical r-matrices with spectral parameter, as classified by Etingof and Varchenko for simple Lie algebras. Here the main purpose is to establish the Liouville integrability of these systems by a uniform method

Dirac cohomology, elliptic representations and endoscopy

The first part (Sections 1-6) of this paper is a survey of some of the recent developments in the theory of Dirac cohomology, especially the relationship of Dirac cohomology with (g,K)-cohomology and nilpotent Lie algebra cohomology; the second part (Sections 7-12) is devoted to understanding the unitary elliptic representations and endoscopic transfer by using the techniques in Dirac cohomology. A few problems and conjectures are proposed for further investigations.Comment: This paper will appear in `Representations of Reductive Groups, in Honor of 60th Birthday of David Vogan', edited by M. Quantization of Field Theories Generalizing Gravity-Yang-Mills Systems on the Cylinder

    Get PDF
Pure gravity and gauge theories in two dimensions are shown to be special cases of a much more general class of field theories each of which is characterized by a Poisson structure on a finite dimensional target space. A general scheme for the quantization of these theories is formulated. Explicit examples are studied in some detail. In particular gravity and gauge theories with equivalent actions are compared. Big gauge transformations as well as the condition of metric nondegeneracy in gravity turn out to cause significant differences in the structure of the corresponding reduced phase spaces and the quantum spectra of Dirac observables. For R2R^2 gravity coupled to SU(2) Yang Mills the question of quantum dynamics (`problem of time') is addressed. [This article is a contribution to the proceedings (to appear in LNP) of the 3rd Baltic RIM Student Seminar (1993). Importance is attached to concrete examples. A more abstract presentation of the ideas underlying this article (including new developments) is found in hep-th/9405110.]Comment: 26, pages, TUW-94-

Quantization of Fayet-Iliopoulos Parameters in Supergravity

In this short note we discuss quantization of the Fayet-Iliopoulos parameter in supergravity theories. We argue that in supergravity, the Fayet-Iliopoulos parameter determines a lift of the group action to a line bundle, and such lifts are quantized. Just as D-terms in rigid N=1 supersymmetry are interpreted in terms of moment maps and symplectic reductions, we argue that in supergravity the quantization of the Fayet-Iliopoulos parameter has a natural understanding in terms of linearizations in geometric invariant theory (GIT) quotients, the algebro-geometric version of symplectic quotients.Comment: 21 pages, utarticle class; v2: typos and tex issue fixe

Symplectic connections and Fedosov's quantization on supermanifolds

A (biased and incomplete) review of the status of the theory of symplectic connections on supermanifolds is presented. Also, some comments regarding Fedosov's technique of quantization are made.Comment: Submitted to J. of Phys. Conf. Se

Penrose limits, supergravity and brane dynamics

    Get PDF
We investigate the Penrose limits of classical string and M-theory backgrounds. We prove that the number of (super)symmetries of a supergravity background never decreases in the limit. We classify all the possible Penrose limits of AdS x S spacetimes and of supergravity brane solutions. We also present the Penrose limits of various other solutions: intersecting branes, supersymmetric black holes and strings in diverse dimensions, and cosmological models. We explore the Penrose limit of an isometrically embedded spacetime and find a generalisation to spaces with more than one time. Finally, we show that the Penrose limit is a large tension limit for all branes including those with fields of Born--Infeld type.Comment: 67 page

Vector coherent state representations, induced representations, and geometric quantization: II. Vector coherent state representations

    Get PDF
It is shown here and in the preceeding paper (quant-ph/0201129) that vector coherent state theory, the theory of induced representations, and geometric quantization provide alternative but equivalent quantizations of an algebraic model. The relationships are useful because some constructions are simpler and more natural from one perspective than another. More importantly, each approach suggests ways of generalizing its counterparts. In this paper, we focus on the construction of quantum models for algebraic systems with intrinsic degrees of freedom. Semi-classical partial quantizations, for which only the intrinsic degrees of freedom are quantized, arise naturally out of this construction. The quantization of the SU(3) and rigid rotor models are considered as examples.Comment: 31 pages, part 2 of two papers, published versio

Lowest weight representations of super Schrodinger algebras in low dimensional spacetime

We investigate the lowest weight representations of the super Schrodinger algebras introduced by Duval and Horvathy. This is done by the same procedure as the semisimple Lie algebras. Namely, all singular vectors within the Verma modules are constructed explicitly then irreducibility of the associated quotient modules is studied again by the use of singular vectors. We present the classification of irreducible Verma modules for the super Schrodinger algebras in (1+1) and (2+1) dimensional spacetime with N = 1, 2 extensions.Comment: 10pages, talk given at GROUP28 conference New Castle 26-30th July 2010, reference adde

A quantum homogeneous space of nilpotent matrices

A quantum deformation of the adjoint action of the special linear group on the variety of nilpotent matrices is introduced. New non-embedded quantum homogeneous spaces are obtained related to certain maximal coadjoint orbits, and known quantum homogeneous spaces are revisited.Comment: 12 page
