CP-ALL and the Case of Value Web Creation

How should convenience store operators like Thailand’s CP-ALL construct its value chains? What does economic theory teach us about an under-modelled area of management theory (namely value chains)? In this paper, we use a seemingly unrelated economic model analysing Vietnam to tell us something about the conglomerates running convenience stores licenses like CP-ALL. We find that convenience stores may not want to raise capital from Thai banks and the Bangkok stock market when labour productivity exceeds capital’s. We also find that inefficiencies inherent in Thai markets may significantly reduce the optimal size of a convenience store operator like CP-ALL. These operators may also (counter-intuitively) need to give up a significant share of their profits to “value service providers” when the cost of capital falls. As such, counter to the usual World Bank nostrums, improvements in Bangkok’s stock market and banks may actually hurt firms like CP-ALL.preprin

O.G.Martynenko, V.N. Korovkin (Połock State University)On the basis of the stationary laminar boundary layer equations, an analysis of the external flow effect on the characteristics of the boundary layer of a continuously moving flat plate is carried out. Numerical and approximate analytical solutions of the problem have been obtained for different vol-ues of the parameter e, which characterizes the ratio of the velocities of the moving plate and cocur-rent flow. Correlation dependences have been constructed for determining the boundary-layer thickness and flow shear on the body surface.= На основе стационарных уравнений ламинарного пограничного слоя, анализ внешнего эффекта потока на характеристики пограничного слоя непрерывно движущейся плоской пластины осуществляется.

From the viewpoint of the laminar boundary layer theory, by the method of internal and external asymptotic expansions the self-similar problem on the development of a plane free-convective jet at a quadratic temperature dependence of the density has been solved. Analytical dependences of the main characteristics of the jet flow on the Prandtl number, convenient for engineering calculations, have been obtained

    Swirling convective jets: asymptotic analysis

    Get PDF
Results of solution of the problem of a swirling convective jet propagating over a point heat source on the basis of the equations defining a laminar boundary layer in the Boussinesq approximation are presented. The cases of steady circulation of the azimuthal velocity component of the fluid flow at infinity and the angular momentum of the fluid relative to the axis of the jet were considered. The two variants of the problem were asymptotically analyzed, and corresponding boundary problems were formulated for the principal terms of the expansion of desired functions. The dependences of the velocity and temperature fields on the Prandtl number were determined. Analytical solutions and detailed tables of numerical-analysis data are given

The estimated degree of crystallinity of natural and synthetic grown quartz and quartzite by calculating the x-ray diffraction patterns. It is shown that the index of crystallinity of natural quartzite varies widely, reflecting the different degree of their transformation. The highest values of the index of crystallinity are characterized natural and synthetic single crystals of quartz

Education as a condition for social wel-being of human

This article touches upon the idea of new educational models which are a guarantee of social well-being. We argue that a classical model of university should necessarily go through a series of changes due to many objective reasons. Contemporary epistemology is symbolizing renaissance. Nowadays knowledge is transformed into information. Hence, information may be interpreted as that, what changes us or as past experience. We bring to the attention different educational models such as: a model of world-class university, an elitist model, a mass model, a two-level model, a networking model, a university of the third age. University is more and more involved in solution of many problems of modern world such as, training of specialists, social elite education, and provision of universal level of education. We also argue that the key task of educational process now is pragmatic values formation instead of the development of inner world of a person through educational process. There are new criteria for understanding the level of developing society. We put particular emphasis and consider the educational model of lifelong learning as one that gives the opportunity to students of different ages to study in various fields of science. This is unlimited research process the sense of which is to find truth, discover new form of knowledge during whole life-time
