DEVELOPMENT OF ASTROTOURISM IN VIÅ NJAN
Astrotourism, understood as a selective form of tourism, implies organization and activities encompassing visits to the existing astronomy infrastructure and observation of celestial bodies, accompanied by due commentaries, as well as a general popularization of astronomy among the tourist public, accompanied by an additional tourist offer. This unconventional form of tourism becomes even more attractive and develops in various directions. The greatest possibilities for its development here are offered by Visnjan near Porec, where a renowned observatory has been active for fifteen years now, as a public astronomic centre of the Alpine-Adriatic region. Being situated near the most important tourist centres in Istria, Visnjan could become the centre of astrotourism in this part of Europe, which would substantially enhance our tourist offer and contribute to the tourist identity of Istria. The scientific achievements of Visnjan observatory, the investments in the field of infrastructure - particularly the erection of a new observatory in the panoramic region of central Istria, in Porec vicinity, and the gradual establishment of the private school for hotel and tourist industry āManero ā - are the most significant factors for this development. In their work the authors offer their own conceptions of the development of astrotourism in Visnjan, aiming particularly at the American model which is very efficient in the field of education, marketing, and finances
Light pollution in Croatia
Light pollution in the Republic of Croatia is analyzed using a statistical model based on the Walker\u27s law. The results have been verified by measurement of light pollution on some twenty sites. They show that the entire Croatian territory is at least moderately polluted by light, with the exception of several islands and some areas in Lika and Gorski kotar. An overview of prevailing Croatian regulations relating to light pollution is also given
