Conformational States of the Spiropyran Molecule
The form of the potential surface of the ground state was investigated on the basis of indoline spiropyran. As a result of this work the rotamers of an open-ring form of the spiropyran molecule were discovered, and the existence of the most probable rotamers was justified. The 3D potential surface of the ground state of the spiropyran molecule was built. The route of the isomerization of the molecule was discovered and values of barriers for this reaction were found. The part of the isomerization route that is responsible for changing the hybridization of spiroatom from sp3 to sp2 was found
Polymethine Dye as Sensors of NH 3
We have investigated the properties of polymethine dyes (PMD) and the purpose of using them as sensors of hazardous gases presence. Research indicates that in case of utilizing PMD as a sensor of hazardous gases we need to use the monochromatic light which wavelength corresponds to the inflection point of the long-wave absorption edge of PMD. Such sensor of hazardous gases can detect changes in the optical density of the sensor layer or the light intensity transmitted through the layer
Merocyanine–spiropyran relaxation processes
In the paper mechanisms of merocyanine–spiropyran transformation were investigated. It was shown that in dark conditions for such transformation it is necessary to overcome the potential barrier with height of ~0.6 eV. A barrierless transformation into the spiropyran molecule is possible due to the rotation of the phenyl moiety of the merocyanine molecule by 90∘ relative to the plane of the molecule. It was proved that a 90∘ orientation of moieties in the merocyanine molecule is achievable only in a photochemical way because in S1 state of the molecule energy of the potential surface is lowered by rotation the phenyl moiety relative to its plane
to sweet cherry trees, are major challenges in the intensive cultivation of this
crop. Possible ways to reduce the vigour and stimulate flower induction include
shifting the term of pruning and reducing its severity. However, the reaction of
the trees may differ depending on specific cultivar, soil and climatic conditions.
Therefore, the aim of the study was to determine the effect of various tech niques and terms of pruning on young sweet cherry trees in order to adapt the
intensive cultivation technology to the arid conditions of southern Ukraine. The
results showed a strong cultivarspecific reaction to various pruning treat ments. Pruning young sweet cherry trees in late summer contributed to a
reduction of trunk and canopy indices by 1122% on one of the cultivars and an
increase in the number of flowers per tree by 1.41.7 times on both cultivars,
compared to dormant pruning. Low severity pruning reduced 1yearold shoot
length by 925% and increased the number of flowers by 1.52.5 times com pared to more aggressive pruning. The effect of pruning treatments on tree
vigour was more pronounced during the first and second year of their application
