Yttrium oxide (Y2O3) films have been successfully deposited with yttrium-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA・Y・H) complexes prepared by various milling techniques. The effects of the properties of the EDTA・Y・H complex on the properties of the deposited Y2O3 films have been analyzed. Seven different types of the raw EDTA・Y・H complexes were prepared by various commercial milling techniques such as ball milling, hammer milling, commercial milling, and mortar milling. The milled EDTA・Y・H complexes exhibited various particle sizes and distributions, depending on the milling method. Furthermore, we analyzed the crystal structure, morphology and elemental distribution profile of the metal oxide films deposited on stainless steel substrate with the milled EDTA・Y・H complexes. Depending on the milling technique, the flow properties of the raw powders differed. The X-ray diffraction pattern of all the samples revealed the formation of Y2O3 crystalline phase, irrespective of the milling technique. Of all the different milling techniques, the hammer milling technique is considered suitable for fabricating dense Y2O3 films

We herein presented a case of a 75-year-old man who was referred to our hospital for hyperglycemia in a drowsy state following a convulsive seizure after receiving hemodialysis at another clinic. He had been receiving maintenance hemodialysis for non-diabetic renal failure from the age of 73 years. He was diagnosed with diabetic ketosis because his blood glucose level was 707mg/dl, HbA1c 8.3%, glycoalbumin 40.5%, serum osmolality 323mosm/kg, and 3-hydroxybutyric acid 5.8 mmol/l. Continuous intravenous insulin infusion therapy was immediately initiated and was changed to intensive insulin therapy on the 7th day after his admission. He did not have metabolic acidosis or serious dehydration associated with the acute metabolic derangement observed on arrival because fluid corrections for acid-base and electrolyte imbalances in the blood had been achieved by hemodialysis prior to his referral to our hospital. ΔCPR at six minutes in the glucagon loading test was hardly affected, indicating that his endogenous insulin secretory capacity was markedly reduced. The GAD antibody was negative. He had the haplotype of HLA DR4, which is considered to reflect disease susceptibility for type1diabetes in Japanese individuals. Acuteonset type 1 diabetes mellitus was diagnosed based on the diagnostic criteria for acute-onset type1 diabetes mellitus (2012) by the Committee of the Japan Diabetes Society. At the time of his discharge, 8 units of insulin lispro were being administered prior to each meal in addition to 2 units of insulin glargine before sleeping. He was transferred to a local clinic on the 23rd day after his admission. Although glycoalbumin had been measured every six months in the present case, it was not useful for detecting new onset diabetes. Therefore, blood glucose measurements before dialysis need to be regularly performed, even in dialysis patients with non-diabetic renal failure, in order to detect the new onset of diabetes at an early stage

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is considered to be one of the most aggressive subtypes of all breast cancers. To identify novel potential therapeutic targets and clarify pathophysiological features for TNBC, we conducted Meta-gene profiling analysis based on gene-expression profiling of TNBC cases purified by lasermicrobeam microdissection, and found that proteasome-associated genes (PAGs) were commonly upregulated in various pathways including cell cycle regulation in TNBC. Depletion of PAGs with RNAi caused the upregulation of p27 and p21 proteins in MDA-MB-231 and HCC1937 cells, respectively, resulting in growth inhibition. Interestingly, immunocytochmical staining revealed that PAG1 was observed in the nucleoli and/or cytoplasm (n-PAG1 and c-PAG1) in TNBC cell line and clinical specimens. Immunohistochemical staining of 100 TNBCs showed that high level of n-PAG1 was significantly associated with poor disease free and overall survival of TNBC patients. These results indicate that n-PAG1 plays a critical role in nucleus during cell cycle progression and might be a novel prognostic indicator or an attractive molecular target of TNBC
