Supporting Recovery in the Deaf Community: Creating Continuum of Behavioral Health Care in Central Massachusetts
Across the U.S., there is a paucity of mental health and substance abuse services for Deaf individuals. Without the availability of communication accommodations and specialized clinical expertise, Deaf individuals seeking behavioral health services contend with access limitations, misdiagnoses, and superficial treatments. Moreover, while the assessment and treatment of co-occurring disorders and the infusion of trauma-informed care are key components of effective treatment in the mainstream literature, the investigation and application of these initiatives to the Deaf population has not yet occurred. The proposed poster will outline the current state of specialized behavioral health services for Deaf individuals in Central Massachusetts, identify gaps in the continuum of behavioral health care for this population, and offer recommendations for future behavioral health programming.
Currently, Central Massachusetts is home to two specialized programs for Deaf individuals seeking behavioral health services, the Center for Living and Working’s Deaf Independent Living Services and the DMH Inpatient Deaf Services at Worcester State Recovery Center and Hospital. Unfortunately, even with these programs, it is challenging to find appropriate outpatient placement and services that meet the range of psychiatric, intellectual, linguistic, and cultural needs of Deaf individuals. Connections between inpatient units and specialized outpatient services for the Deaf need to be developed or enhanced to increase continuity of care and reduce rehospitalization of Deaf individuals.
At the current time, specialized outpatient psychotherapy and psychiatry services for Deaf individuals are not available in this region. Lack of funding for AA/NA interpreters and the recent closure of a Deaf-accessible substance abuse treatment agency highlight the need for the development of programs that provide accessible substance abuse treatment. Culturally-affirmative, linguistically-accessible, trauma-informed outpatient behavioral health services that are tailored to the Deaf population are vital to promoting the wellness and recovery of the Deaf community
The K\"ahler-Ricci flow on surfaces of positive Kodaira dimension
The existence of K\"ahler-Einstein metrics on a compact K\"ahler manifold has
been the subject of intensive study over the last few decades, following Yau's
solution to Calabi's conjecture. The Ricci flow, introduced by Richard Hamilton
has become one of the most powerful tools in geometric analysis.
We study the K\"ahler-Ricci flow on minimal surfaces of Kodaira dimension one
and show that the flow collapses and converges to a unique canonical metric on
its canonical model. Such a canonical is a generalized K\"ahler-Einstein
metric. Combining the results of Cao, Tsuji, Tian and Zhang, we give a metric
classification for K\"aher surfaces with a numerical effective canonical line
bundle by the K\"ahler-Ricci flow. In general, we propose a program of finding
canonical metrics on canonical models of projective varieties of positive

Solution of inverse problem - regularization via thermodynamical criterion
In engineering practice, measuring temperature on both sides of a wall (of, for example, turbine casing or combustion chamber) is not always possible. On the other hand, measurement of both temperature and heat flux on the outer surface of the wall is possible. For transient heat conduction equation, measurements of temperature and heat flux supplemented by the initial condition state the Cauchy problem, which is ill-conditioned In this paper, the stable solution is obtained for the Cauchy problem using the Laplace transformation and the minimisation of continuity in the process of integration of convolution. Observation of individual molecules trapped on a nanostructured insulator
For the first time, ordered polar molecules confined in monolayer-deep
rectangular pits produced on an alkali halide surface by electron irradiation
have been resolved at room temperature by non-contact atomic force microscopy.
Molecules self-assemble in a specific fashion inside pits of width smaller than
15 nm. By contrast no ordered aggregates of molecules are observed on flat
terraces. Conclusions regarding nucleation and ordering mechanisms are drawn.
Trapping in pits as small as 2 nm opens a route to address single molecules
Perturbative Fragmentation of Leptoquark into Heavy Lepto-Quarkonium
The fragmentation function of a scalar leptoquark into possible S-wave bound
states with a heavy anti-quark is calculated to the leading order in
perturbative QCD for the high energy processes at large transverse momenta. The
one-loop equations for the -evolution of moments of the fragmentation
function due to the hard gluon emission by the leptoquark are derived. The
integral probabilities of fragmentation are evaluated.Comment: 8 pages, epsf-style, 3 eps-figure
The Decays to -wave Charmonium by Improved Bethe-Salpeter Approach
We re-calculate the exclusive semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of
meson to a -wave charmonium in terms of the improved Bethe-Salpeter (B-S)
approach, which is developed recently. Here the widths for the exclusive
semileptonic and nonleptonic decays, the form factors, and the charged lepton
spectrums for the semileptonic decays are precisely calculated. To test the
concerned approach by comparing with experimental measurements when the
experimental data are available, and to have comparisons with the other
approaches the results obtained by the approach and those by some approaches
else as well as the original B-S approach, which appeared in literature, are

The comparison of multipotential for differentiation of progenitor mesenchymal-like stem cells obtained from livers of young and old rats.
The presence of stem cells differentiating to hepatocytes and cholangiocytes has been previously reported in livers of young rats. Here, we have isolated, cultured, and characterized mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from livers of young and old rats and tested their multipotential for differentiation. The mesenchymal stem cells in liver sections were identified by the presence of markers, respectively for primary stem cells Thy-1 and CD34, for differentiation to early cholangiocytes GST and CK19, and for differentiation to hepatocytes GSTalpha and CK18. Ki67 was detected as the cell proliferation marker. Cells isolated from livers of either age group were tested in a culture for their viability following storage and were characterized for the presence of most of the markers detected in cells in situ. The results revealed age-dependent changes in the number of recovered primary MSCs. In both age groups we have observed cells changing under differentiating conditions to liver cell lineages, such as cholangiocytes and hepatocytes, as well as to non-liver cells such as adipocytes, astrocytes, neuroblasts, and osteoblasts. Our data revealed that from the livers of rats 20 months and older the primary MSCs could be isolated and expanded; however, they were significantly fewer, even though their differentiation multipotential was preserved. The mechanism involved in the differentiation of liver MSCs seemed to depend on a constellation of signals in Notch signalling pathways. Thus, our results support the idea of potential use of liver as a source of MSCs, not only for liver reconstruction but also for cell therapy in general
Near-threshold boson pair production in the model of smeared-mass unstable particles
Near-threshold production of boson pairs is considered within the framework
of the model of unstable particles with smeared mass. We describe the principal
aspects of the model and consider the strategy of calculations including the
radiative corrections. The results of calculations are in good agreement with
LEP II data and Monte-Carlo simulations. Suggested approach significantly

The NLO QCD Corrections to Meson Production in Decays
The decay width of to meson is evaluated at the next-to-leading
order(NLO) accuracy in strong interaction. Numerical calculation shows that the
NLO correction to this process is remarkable. The quantum
chromodynamics(QCD)renormalization scale dependence of the results is obviously
depressed, and hence the uncertainties lying in the leading order calculation

Hadronic Production of S-wave and P-wave Charmed Beauty Mesons via Heavy Quark Fragmentation
At hadron colliders the dominant production mechanism of mesons
with large transverse momentum is due to parton fragmentation. We compute the
rates and transverse momentum spectra for production of S-wave and P-wave
mesons at the Tevatron via the direct fragmentation of the bottom
antiquark as well as the Altarelli-Parisi induced gluon fragmentation. Since
all the radially and orbitally excited mesons below the
flavor threshold will cascade into the pseudoscalar ground state through
electromagnetic and/or hadronic transitions, they all contribute to the
inclusive production of . The contributions of the excited S-wave and
P-wave states to the inclusive production of are 58 and 23\%,
