Entropy/IP: Uncovering Structure in IPv6 Addresses

In this paper, we introduce Entropy/IP: a system that discovers Internet address structure based on analyses of a subset of IPv6 addresses known to be active, i.e., training data, gleaned by readily available passive and active means. The system is completely automated and employs a combination of information-theoretic and machine learning techniques to probabilistically model IPv6 addresses. We present results showing that our system is effective in exposing structural characteristics of portions of the IPv6 Internet address space populated by active client, service, and router addresses. In addition to visualizing the address structure for exploration, the system uses its models to generate candidate target addresses for scanning. For each of 15 evaluated datasets, we train on 1K addresses and generate 1M candidates for scanning. We achieve some success in 14 datasets, finding up to 40% of the generated addresses to be active. In 11 of these datasets, we find active network identifiers (e.g., /64 prefixes or `subnets') not seen in training. Thus, we provide the first evidence that it is practical to discover subnets and hosts by scanning probabilistically selected areas of the IPv6 address space not known to contain active hosts a priori.Comment: Paper presented at the ACM IMC 2016 in Santa Monica, USA (https://dl.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=2987445). Surtos da mosca-dos-estábulos, Stomoxys calcitrans, em Mato Grosso do Sul: novo problema para as cadeias produtivas da carne e sucroalcooleira?

    Get PDF

First Order Bipolaronic Transition at Finite Temperature in the Holstein Model

We investigate the Holstein model by using the dynamical mean-field theory combined with the exact diagonalization method. Below a critical temperature Tcr, a coexistence of the polaronic and the bipolaronic solutions is found for the same value of the electron-phonon coupling $ in the range gc1(T)<g<gc2(T). In the coexistence region, the system shows a first order phase transition from the bipolaronic to the polaronic states as T decreases at T=Tp(<Tcr), where the double occupancy and the lattice fluctuation together with the anharmonicity of the effective ion potential change discontinuously without any symmetry breaking. The obtained bipolaronic transition seems to be consistent with the rattling transition in the beta-pyrochlore oxide KOs2O6.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures, J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 79 (2010) 09370

A Non-Abelian Variation on the Savvidy Vacuum of the Yang-Mills Gauge Theory

As a prelude to a truly non-perturbative evaluation of the effective potential in terms of lattice QCD, the one loop effective potential for a non-Abelian gauge configuration is calculated using the background field method. Through a non-trivial correlation between the space and color orientations the new background field avoids the possible coordinate singularity, DetBia=0{\rm Det}B_i^a=0, observed recently by Ken Johnson and his collaborators in their Schr\"{o}dinger functional study of the SU(2) Yang-Mills theory. In addition, since our ansatz generates a constant color magnetic field through the commutator terms rather than derivative terms, many of the technical drawbacks the Savvidy ansatz suffers on a lattice can be avoided. Our one loop study yields qualitatively the same result as that of Savvidy's.Comment: 9 pages, preprint BU-HEP-93-2

Energy gap in superconducting fullerides: optical and tunneling studies

Tunneling and optical transmission studies have been performed on superconducting samples of Rb3C60. At temperatures much below the superconducting transition temperature Tc the energy gap is 2 Delta=5.2 +- 0.2meV, corresponding to 2 Delta/kB Tc = 4.2. The low temperature density of states, and the temperature dependence of the optical conductivity resembles the BCS behavior, although there is an enhanced ``normal state" contribution. The results indicate that this fulleride material is an s-wave superconductor, but the superconductivity cannot be described in the weak coupling limit.Comment: RevTex file with four .EPS figures. Raman Scattering Study of Ba-doped C60 with t1g States

Raman spectra are reported for Ba doped fullerides, BaxC60(x=3,4,and 6). The lowest frequency Hg modes split into five components for Ba4C60 and Ba6C60 even at room temperature, allowing us a quantitative analysis based on the electron-phonon couping theory. For the superconducting Ba4C60, the density of states at the Fermi energy was derived as 7 eV-1, while the total value of electron-phonon coupling \lambda was found to be 1.0, which is comparable to that of K3C60. The tangential Ag(2) mode, which is known as a sensitive probe for the degree of charge transfer on C60 molecule, shows a remarkable shift depending on the Ba concentration, being roughly consistent with the full charge transfer from Ba to C60. An effect of hybridization between Ba and C60 \pi orbitals is also discussed.Comment: 15 pages, 6 figures submitted to Phys. Rev. B (December 1,1998

Inclusive Prompt Photon Production in Hadronic Final States of e+ee^+e^- Annihilation

    Get PDF
We provide complete analytic expressions for the inclusive prompt photon production cross section in hadronic final states of e+ee^+e^- annihilation reactions through one-loop order in quantum chromodynamics perturbation theory. Computed explicitly are direct photon production through first order in the electromagnetic strength αem\alpha_{em} and the quark-to-photon and gluon-to-photon fragmentation contributions through first order in the strong coupling αs\alpha_s. The full angular dependence of the cross sections is displayed, separated into transverse (1+cos2θγ)(1 +\cos ^2\theta _\gamma) and longitudinal (sin2θγ)(\sin ^2\theta_\gamma) components, where θγ\theta_\gamma specifies the direction of the photon with respect to the e+ee^+e^- collision axis. We discuss extraction of fragmentation functions from e+ee^+e^- data.Comment: 40 pages, RevTex, 30 figures in postscript available in a separate fil

    Yang-Mills Theory In Axial Gauge

    Get PDF
The Yang-Mills functional integral is studied in an axial variant of 't Hooft's maximal Abelian gauge. In this gauge Gau\ss ' law can be completely resolved resulting in a description in terms of unconstrained variables. Compared to previous work along this line starting with work of Goldstone and Jackiw one ends up here with half as many integration variables, besides a field living in the Cartan subgroup of the gauge group and in D-1 dimension. The latter is of particular relevance for the infrared behaviour of the theory. Keeping only this variable we calculate the Wilson loop and find an area law.Comment: 43 pages REVTeX, 6 figure
