    Container Boom in the Port of Koper

    For the Port of Koper the Central and Eastern European market is very important. The Port of Koper is especially interesting for goods flows relating to the exchange of goods on the East ā€“ West route (and vice versa) and bound for the EU, in particular to the catchment area of the North Adriatic ports.The year 2009 was a difficult year for business, especially due to the uncertain international economic situation. In the first nine months of 2010, 16% more goods were handled in the Port of Koper than in the same period in 2009. The container transport especially exploded in tons (45% increase) as well as in container units (40% increase). Within this period they handled 355,000 TEUs (new record) in the container terminal (214,000 TEUs in the same period on the seventh pier in Trieste).The growth of container transport in the Port of Koper as well as the beginning of construction on the new container terminal have made the reconstruction and extension of the current container terminal an absolute priority. The extension is in line with the estimated growth of traffic as well as with the exploitation of present and future terminal capacities.This paper aims to present and analyse: (I) supply chains of the flow of containerised goods through the Port of Koper to/from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe; (II) the changes which enable this boom, current state and strategies to handle even more containers in the future; (iii) market potential, current and future investments in new capacities

    Zakonodavna regulativa koja regulira upravljanje kvalitetom na svim razinama hrvatskog obrazovanja kontinuirano se unaprjeđuje i usklađuje s europskom pravnom stečevinom. No na žalost donoÅ”enje zakonskih propisa ne garantira trenutno postizanje ciljeva donoÅ”enja takve regulative (poput podizanja kvalitete nastavnog procesa, unaprijeđenija efikasnosti upravljanja Å”kolama i ustanovama i sl.). S jedne strane jasno je da se niÅ”ta ne može dogoditi preko noći i da za postizanje određenih rezultata treba vrijeme, no s druge strane čest uzrok za nepostizanje ciljeva je nepostojanje ili nedovoljna razina SUSTAVA UPRAVLJANJA na razini Å”kolskih ustanova kao temeljnih jedinica sustava obrazovanja. Međunarodne norme koje se bave SUSTAVIMA UPRAVLJANJA izdaju se od strane međunarodne organizacije za kvalitetu (ISO), među njima je najpoznatija norma ISO 9001:20081 ā€“ ZAHTJEVI NA SUSTAV UPRAVLJANJA KVALITETOM. Postoje brojne poveznice između zakonske regulative koja pokriva područje kvalitete u Å”kolstvu i ove međunarodne norme, no joÅ” je važnije da norma ISO 9001 donosi i brojne alate koji u velikoj mjeri olakÅ”avaju realizaciju ciljeva i podizanje razine upravljanja kvalitetom. Primjenom alata iz norme ISO 9001 puno je lakÅ”e ispuniti zakonske zahtjeve, ali i postići stvarna poboljÅ”anja i u segmentu kvalitete nastave, ali i u upravljanju u cjelini

    INFLUENCE OF TOP-LEVEL MANAGER COMMUNICATION ON WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY

    U menadžerskoj praksi upotrebljava se mnogo preventivnih alata (npr. najbolje prakse, usporedna ocjenjivanja, ocjenjivački modeli itd.) kojima se neprekidno poboljÅ”ava stanje na području sigurnosti i zdravlja na radu. Budući da je komuniciranje jedno od ključnih sastavnih dijelova, koji utječu na kulturu sigurnosti i uspjeÅ”nosti preventivnih djelovanja, zanimalo nas je kako slovenski upravni menadžeri komuniciraju i kako, glede sigurnosti i zdravlja na radu, stupanj komunikacije utječe na njihov način upravljanja. U tu smo svrhu upotrijebili kvantitativnu tehniku prikupljanja podataka i informacija ā€“ anketu i dobiveno analizirali programskim alatom SPSS. Anketni upitnik proslijedili smo na svih 351 upravnih menadžera u velikim slovenskim gospodarskim druÅ”tvima. Utvrdili smo da upravni menadžeri u slovenskim velikim gospodarskim druÅ”tvima svojim načinom komuniciranja pozitivno i značajno utječu na stanje sigurnosti i zdravlja na radu (povezanost između utjecaja i komunikacije je relativno snažna; beta koeficijent iznosi 0,774). ViÅ”i stupanj komuniciranja upravnih menadžera u velikim slovenskim gospodarskim druÅ”tvima, također, jače utječe na zaposlene suradnike sa stajaliÅ”ta upravljanja kakvo oni žele. Predložili smo najučinkovitije aktivnosti koje bi trebali poÅ”tovati menadžeri u slovenskim velikim gospodarskim druÅ”tvima za poboljÅ”anje stanja na području sigurnosti i zdravlja na radu, upotrebljavajući pritom komunikaciju kao preventivni alat.Managerial practice uses a number of prevention tools (for example, the most effective methods, comparative evaluations, evaluation models, etc.) which continually improve conditions of workplace health and safety. Considering that communication is one of the key influence factors with regard to safety and efficiency of preventive action, we wanted to establish how Slovenian top-level managers communicated and how their communication level affected their management with regard to workplace health and safety. For that purpose we used a quantitative method of data collection ā€“ the questionnaire ā€“ and analyzed the obtained data using the SPSS data analysis software. The questionnaire was sent to all 351 top-level managers of large Slovenian companies. We found that the manner of communication used by top-level managers in large Slovenian companies positively and significantly influenced workplace health and safety (the correlation between influence and communication was fairly strong; beta coefficient was 0.774). A higher communication level achieved by top-level managers in large Slovenian companies also enabled them to promote more successfully their management ideas among co-workers. We proposed the most efficient activities to be taken up by Slovenian top-level managers in large companies in order to improve workplace health and safety, with communication being the primary tool to achieve this

    Change is the most significant factor influencing our lives and dominating the world we live in. There are rapid changes emerging from all spheres of human activities. The complexity and pace of change, which is difficult to handle by an individual, demand the need for creative team work. The global market encourages the need to develop new products, new solutions, new services, which all require creativity.Moreover, creativity can be developed where mutual effects, high flexibility and speed of learning, collegial friendship and collegial inner culture are present. The aim of our research is to establish if the reason why team work is not more popular can lie in the high number of group members. We administered questionnaires, which were filled in by 172 employees who cooperated in different organizational units of a medium-sized company. From calculations based on the group cohesion index, we established that the number of isolated individuals in larger groups is higher than in smaller groups. We designed a model of improvements to assist a companyā€™s management with improving the quality of operations.Danes je sprememba najpomembnejÅ”i dejavnik vpliva na naÅ”a življenja. Spremembe vladajo svetu; prihajajo iz vseh strani, v vedno hitrejÅ”em ritmu. Sestavljenost in hitrost sprememb, ki jim posameznik ni več kos, narekuje potrebo pa ustvarjalnem timskem delu. Globalni trg pospeÅ”uje potrebo po razvoju novih izdelkov, novih reÅ”itev, novih storitev, za vse to pa potrebujmo ustvarjalnost. In prav ta se lahko razvije tam, kjer se pojavljajo vzajemni učinki, velika prožnost, hitrost učenja, kolegijalno prijateljstvo in notranja kultura. Namen naÅ”e raziskave je bil ugotoviti ali je morda problem zakaj teamsko delo ni uveljavljeno v Å”tevilu članov skupine. Anketirali smo 172 zaposlenih sodelavcev v različnih organizacijskih enotah srednje velike gospodarske družbe. Na podlagi izračunov indeksa skupinske kohezije smo ugotovili, da Å”tevilo izoliranih posameznikov v večjih skupinah naraŔča. Izdelali smo model izboljÅ”av, ki naj bi bil v pomoč managementu družbe pri izboljÅ”anju kakovosti poslovanja

    TOP MANAGERS AND PREVENTIVE SAFETY

    Svrha ovog rada je utvrditi kako odabrani čimbenici utječu na preventivan odnos vodećih menadžera prema sigurnosti i zdravlju na radu. Podaci i informacije prikupljeni su pomoću kvantitativne metode istraživanja. Za prikupljanje podataka upotrijebljen je kao pomagalo anketni upitnik. Elektronskom poÅ”tom upućen je na 351 vodećeg menadžera u velikim slovenskim poduzećima. Najveću ovisnost varijabli preventivnog odnosa prema sigurnosti i zdravlju na radu utvrdili smo između izobrazbe i investicija, te izobrazbe i sigurnosti na radu. Beta koeficijent koji nam kazuje kolika je povezanost između uprave i preventivnog odnosa je pozitivan i relativno jak, te iznosi 0,473. Nalazi istraživanja su aktualni i upotrebljivi za sve kolege koji sudjeluju u promjenama zakonodavstva iz područja sigurnosti i zdravlja na radu. Predlažemo da se u novo zakonodavstvo ugradi maksimum preventivnih mjera sigurnosti i stimulacije za preventivnu, jer odgovori pokazuju da su vodeći menadžeri voljni poÅ”tovati zakonske obveze.The intention of the paper was to determine how certain selected factors influence preventive attitude of managers towards health and safety in the workplace. The paper is based on a survey which included 351 CEOs in larger Slovenian companies. The evaluation of data was made using the SPSS program. We found the strongest correlation between variables of preventive attitude towards health and safety between education and investments, and education and safety at work. Analysis showed that the correlation between leadership and preventive safety of this sample is positive and influences the health and safety results (the correlation is relatively high, Ī² coefficient 0,473). Study findings are current and may be useful to those involved in changing the legislation related to health and safety in the workplace. We recommend that preventive safety and incentives be built into the legislation, as it is evident that the CEOs are inclined to honour legal obligations
