D-branes and Closed String Field Theory
We construct solitonic states in the OSp invariant string field theory, which
are BRST invariant in the leading order of regularization parameter. One can
show that these solitonic states describe D-branes and ghost D-branes, by
calculating the scattering amplitudes.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures, based on an invited talk presented at the

Observables and Correlation Functions in OSp Invariant String Field Theory
We define BRST invariant observables in the OSp invariant closed string field
theory for bosonic strings. We evaluate correlation functions of these
observables and show that the S-matrix elements derived from them coincide with
those of the light-cone gauge string field theory.Comment: 23 page
Light-Cone Gauge String Field Theory in Noncritical Dimensions
We study light-cone gauge string field theory in noncritical space-time
dimensions. Such a theory corresponds to a string theory in a Lorentz
noninvariant background. We identify the worldsheet theory for the longitudinal
coordinate variables and study its properties. It is a CFT with the
right value of Virasoro central charge, using which we propose a BRST invariant
formulation of the worldsheet theory.Comment: 27 pages, 2 figure
Observational tests for oscillating expansion rate of the Universe
We investigate the observational constraints on the oscillating scalar field
model using data from type Ia supernovae, cosmic microwave background
anisotropies, and baryon acoustic oscillations. According to a Fourier
analysis, the galaxy number count from redshift data indicates that
galaxies have preferred periodic redshift spacings. We fix the mass of the
scalar field as such that the scalar
field model can account for the redshift spacings, and we constrain the other
basic parameters by comparing the model with accurate observational data. We
obtain the following constraints: (95% C.L.),
(95% C.L.) (in the range
). The best fit values of the energy density parameter of the scalar
field and the coupling constant are and ,
respectively. The value of is close to but not equal to .
Hence, in the scalar field model, the amplitude of the galaxy number count
cannot be large. However, because the best fit values of and
are not , the scalar field model has the possibility of accounting for
the periodic structure in the -- relation of galaxies. The variation of
the effective gravitational constant in the scalar field model is not
inconsistent with the bound from observation.Comment: 9 pages, 11 figures, 1 table, Accepted for publication in Physical

Surface plasmon enhanced spontaneous emission rate of InGaN/GaN quantum wells probed by time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy
We observed a 32-fold increase in the spontaneous emission rate of InGaN/GaN quantum well (QW) at 440 nm by employing surface plasmons (SPs) probed by time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy. We explore this remarkable enhancement of the emission rates and intensities resulting from the efficient energy transfer from electron-hole pair recombination in the QW to electron vibrations of SPs at the metal-coated surface of the semiconductor heterostructure. This QW-SP coupling is expected to lead to a new class of super bright and high-speed light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that offer realistic alternatives to conventional fluorescent tubes
Light-cone Gauge NSR Strings in Noncritical Dimensions
Light-cone gauge NSR string theory in noncritical dimensions should
correspond to a string theory with a nonstandard longitudinal part.
Supersymmetrizing the bosonic case [arXiv:0909.4675], we formulate a
superconformal worldsheet theory for the longitudinal variables X^{\pm},
\psi^{\pm}. We show that with the transverse variables and the ghosts combined,
it is possible to construct a nilpotent BRST charge.Comment: 22 pages, 1 figur
Bottom-Up Approach to Moduli Dynamics in Heavy Gravitino Scenario : Superpotential, Soft Terms and Sparticle Mass Spectrum
The physics of moduli fields is examined in the scenario where the gravitino
is relatively heavy with mass of order 10 TeV, which is favored in view of the
severe gravitino problem. The form of the moduli superpotential is shown to be
determined, if one imposes a phenomenological requirement that no physical CP
phase arise in gaugino masses from conformal anomaly mediation. This bottom-up
approach allows only two types of superpotential, each of which can have its
origins in a fundamental underlying theory such as superstring. One
superpotential is the sum of an exponential and a constant, which is identical
to that obtained by Kachru et al (KKLT), and the other is the racetrack
superpotential with two exponentials. The general form of soft supersymmetry
breaking masses is derived, and the pattern of the superparticle mass spectrum
in the minimal supersymmetric standard model is discussed with the KKLT-type
superpotential. It is shown that the moduli mediation and the anomaly mediation
make comparable contributions to the soft masses. At the weak scale, the
gaugino masses are rather degenerate compared to the minimal supergravity,
which bring characteristic features on the superparticle masses. In particular,
the lightest neutralino, which often constitutes the lightest superparticle and
thus a dark matter candidate, is a considerable admixture of gauginos and
higgsinos. We also find a small mass hierarchy among the moduli, gravitino, and
superpartners of the standard-model fields. Cosmological implications of the
scenario are briefly described.Comment: 45 pages, 10 figures, typos correcte
Z Boson Propagator Correction in Technicolor Theories with ETC Effects Included
We calculate the Z boson propagator correction, as described by the S
parameter, in technicolor theories with extended technicolor interactions
included. Our method is to solve the Bethe-Salpeter equation for the requisite
current-current correlation functions. Our results suggest that the inclusion
of extended technicolor interactions has a relatively small effect on S.Comment: 15pages, 8 figure
