Shadows over Shulamith: Giordano Bruno's De umbris idearum and the Song of Songs

This article focuses on the use of one verse from the Biblical Songs of Songs in central passages of Giordano Bruno's first published book on the art of memory. De umbris idearum [On the Shadows of Ideas] not solely aims at improving mnemonic capacities, it also envisages the preconditions and limits of cognition in Bruno's new inifitist cosmology. Taking relevant scholarly literature on the topic as a point of departure, this contribution presents De umbris in the context of Bruno's philosophy in general; it focuses on Bruno's evocation of Origen's commentary on that passage in the Song of Songs. The article analyzes in detail the reasons for Bruno's subversion of the traditional exegetic tradition that was massively influenced by Origen's spiritualized reading of the Song of Songs. Bruno's misappropriation of the Origen's commentary turns out to be a mise en abyme, a mannerist strategy of representation. It not only reflects the very method that underlies Bruno's art of memory, but is also to be understood as a conscious subversion of exegetic traditions in general

Adaptive antenna system by ESP32-PICO-D4 and its application to web radio system

Adaptive antenna technique has an important role in the IoT environment in order to establish reliable and stable wireless communication in high congestion situation. Even if knowing antenna characteristics in advance, electromagnetic wave propagation in the non-line-of-sight environment is very complex and unpredictable, therefore, the adjustment the antenna radiation for the optimum signal reception is important for the better wireless link. This article presents a simple but effective adaptive antenna system for Wi-Fi utilizing the function of a highly integrated component, ESP32-PICO-D4. This chip is a system-in-chip containing all components for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth application except for antenna. Together with SP3T RF switch and dielectric antennas and high-resolution audio DAC, completed web-radio system is made in the size of 50 x 50 mm.Comment: This article is submitted for Hardware

Goodwin's Predator-Prey Model with Endogenous Technological Progress

Contemporary economics contains mainly two approaches for an explanation of fluctuations of economic activity indicators. The first approach expresses fluctuations as consequences of random external shocks. The second approach expresses fluctuations as a deterministic dynamical process producing more complex behaviour of the economic system. In our article both approaches are applied. A purpose of our paper is to re-formulate traditional Goodwin predator-prey model by including a specific differential equation describing technological progress in deterministic and/or stochastic way. A base of this system contains such variables in interest as a rate of employment, a share of labour, and different forms of a rate of the technological progress.non-linear three-equation dynamic model; predator-prey market; limit cycle

Neo-Keynesian and Neo-Classical Macroeconomic Models: Stability and Lyapunov Exponents

The non-linear approach to economic dynamics enables us to study traditional economic models using modified formulations and different methods of solution. In this article we compare dynamical properties of Keynesian and Classical macroeconomic models. We start with an extended dynamical IS-LM neoclassical model generating behaviour of the real product, interest rate, expected inflation and the price level over time. Limiting behaviour, stability, and existence of limit cycles and other specific features of these models will be compared.macroeconomic models; Keynesian and classical model; nonlinear differential equations; linearization; asymptotical stability; Lyapunov exponents S
