Coupled SDW and Superconducting Order in FFLO State of CeCoIn
The mechanism of incommensurate (IC) spin-density-wave (SDW) order observed
in the Flude-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) phase of CeCoIn is discussed
on the basis of new mode-coupling scheme among IC-SDW order, two
superconducting orders of FFLO with B () symmetry
and -pairing of odd-parity. Unlike the mode-coupling schemes proposed by
Kenzelmann et al, Sciencexpress, 21 August (2008), that proposed in the present
Letter can offer a simple explanation for why the IC-SDW order is observed only
in FFLO phase and the IC wave vector is rather robust against the magnetic
field.Comment: 3pages, 1 figure, accepted for publication in J. Phys. Soc. Jpn.,

Antiferromagnetism and Superconductivity in CeRhIn
We discuss recent results on the heavy fermion superconductor CeRhIn
which presents ideal conditions to study the strong coupling between the
suppression of antiferromagnetic order and the appearance of unconventional
superconductivity. The appearance of superconductivity as function of pressure
is strongly connected to the suppression of the magnetic order. Under magnetic
field, the re-entrance of magnetic order inside the superconducting state shows
that antiferromagnetism nucleates in the vortex cores. The suppression of
antiferromagnetism in CeRhIn by Sn doping is compared to that under
hydrostatic pressure.Comment: 6 pages, 8 figures, to be published in Proc. Int. Conf. Heavy

Bose-Einstein condensation and entanglement in magnetic systems
We present a study of magnetic field induced quantum phase transitions in
insulating systems. A generalized scaling theory is used to obtain the
temperature dependence of several physical quantities along the quantum
critical trajectory (, ) where is a longitudinal external
magnetic field and the critical value at which the transition occurs.
We consider transitions from a spin liquid at a critical field and
from a fully polarized paramagnet, at , into phases with long range
order in the transverse components. The transitions at and
can be viewed as Bose-Einstein condensations of magnons which however belong to
different universality classes since they have different values of the dynamic
critical exponent . Finally, we use that the magnetic susceptibility is an
entanglement witness to discuss how this type of correlation sets in as the
system approaches the quantum critical point along the critical trajectory,
, .Comment: 7 pages, 1 Table; accepted version; changes in text and new

Non Fermi Liquid behavior in the under-screened Kondo model
Using the Schwinger boson spin representation, we reveal a new aspect to the
physics of a partially screened magnetic moment in a metal, as described by the
spin Kondo model. We show that the residual ferromagnetic interaction
between a partially screened spin and the electron sea destabilizes the Landau
Fermi liquid, forming a singular Fermi liquid with a divergence in the low temperature specific heat coefficient
. A magnetic field tunes this system back into Landau Fermi liquid
with a Fermi temperature proportional to . We discuss a
possible link with field-tuned quantum criticality in heavy electron materials.Comment: References corrected. Minor changes to tex
Stochastic frontiers of efficiency for Brazilian investment funds: A panel data analysis
Foundations, methodological and empirical possibilities of measurement and analysis in the performance of financial investments within investment funds have been developed since they were once introduced in the 1970s, thus establishing a path of growing acceptance in financial markets and universities'' academies. The first approaches over the efficiency of these funds, considering their stochastic implications, occurred in the late 1990s and have evolved with the help of SFA - Stochastic Frontier Analysis, although it still needs more careful verification. This article measured and analyzed the stochastic frontier of efficiency over 33 different Brazilian investment funds from 2012 to 2015. For doing so, Battese and Coelli's (1995) specifications was used. It shows the effects of inefficiencies, which are defined as explicit functions of specific factors in the context of panel data funds. They are estimated by the maximum likelihood method. Sharpe ratios (SR) were also calculated for comparative purposes. Based on these two indicators (SFA and SR), the most recommendable funds to invest and the ones in which the application should not be performed were identified. Such procedures have stimulated the necessary and promising studies, as well as future researches, which, in turn, may establish new methodological formulation as an efficient and effective instrument to choose the best and the safest funds to invest
MDCT-findings in patients with non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia (NOMI): influence of vasoconstrictor agents.
To evaluate the influence of vasoconstrictor agents (VCAs) on signs of vasoconstriction and bowel ischemia on MDCT detected in patients with non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia (NOMI).
This 8-year single-center retrospective study consecutively included all patients with histopathologically proven NOMI who underwent MDCT ≤ 48 h prior to surgical bowel resection. Two blinded radiologists jointly reviewed each examination for signs of bowel ischemia, abdominal organ infarct, mesenteric vessel size and regularity, and ancillary vascular findings. VCA administration (length and dosage), clinical and biochemical data, risk factors, and outcomes were retrieved from patients' medical records. Subgroup comparisons were performed.
Ninety patients were included (59 males, mean age 65 years); 40 (44.4%) had received VCAs before MDCT. Overall mortality was 32% (n = 29), with no significant difference between the two groups. In patients treated with VCAs, the calibre of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) was smaller (p = 0.032), and vasoconstriction of its branches tended to be more important (p = 0.096) than in patients not treated with VCAs. The presence and extent of bowel ischemia did not significantly correlate with VCA administration, but abdominal organ infarcts tended to be more frequent (p = 0.005) and involved more organs (p = 0.088). The VCA group had lower mean arterial pressure (p = 0.006) and lower hemoglobin levels (p < 0.001). Several biomarkers of organ failure and inflammation, differed significantly with VCA use, proving worse clinical condition.
MDCT demonstrates more severe SMA vasoconstriction and tends to show increased abdominal organ infarcts after VCA administration in NOMI patients compared to NOMI patients not treated with VCAs.
• In critically ill patients with NOMI, MDCT demonstrates VCA support via increased vasoconstriction of the main SMA and its branches. • VCA administration in NOMI patients tends to contribute to the development of organ infarcts, as shown on MDCT. • An important degree of vasoconstriction in NOMI patients may indicate insufficient resuscitation and, thus, help clinicians in further patient management
Disordered Fulde-Ferrel-Larkin-Ovchinnikov State in d-wave Superconductors
We study the Fulde-Ferrel-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) superconducting state in
the disordered systems. We analyze the microscopic model, in which the d-wave
superconductivity is stabilized near the antiferromagnetic quantum critical
point, and investigate two kinds of disorder, namely, box disorder and point
disorder, on the basis of the Bogoliubov-deGennes (BdG) equation. The spatial
structure of modulated superconducting order parameter and the magnetic
properties in the disordered FFLO state are investigated. We point out the
possibility of "FFLO glass" state in the presence of strong point disorders,
which arises from the configurational degree of freedom of FFLO nodal plane.
The distribution function of local spin susceptibility is calculated and its
relation to the FFLO nodal plane is clarified. We discuss the NMR measurements
for CeCoIn_5.Comment: Submitted to New. J. Phys. a focus issue on "Superconductors with

High pressure investigation of the heavy-fermion antiferromagnet U_3Ni_5Al_19
Measurements of magnetic susceptibility, specific heat, and electrical
resistivity at applied pressures up to 55 kbar have been carried out on single
crystals of the heavy-fermion antiferromagnet U_3Ni_5Al_19, which crystallizes
in the Gd_3Ni_5Al_19 orthorhombic structure with two inequivalent U sites. At
ambient pressure, a logarithmic T-dependence of the specific heat and T-linear
electrical resistivity below 5 K indicates non-Fermi liquid (NFL) behavior in
the presence of bulk antiferromagnetic order at T_N=23 K. Electrical
resistivity measurements reveal a crossover from non-Fermi liquid to Fermi
liquid behavior at intermediate pressures between 46 kbar and 51 kbar, followed
by a return to NFL T^{3/2} behavior at higher pressures. These results provide
evidence for an ambient pressure quantum critical point and an additional
antiferromagnetic instability at P_c=60 kbar.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figure
