    Footprints of ICSSPE in global quality physical education (QPE)

    The global quest for Quality Physical Education (QPE) remains largely under-achieved despite initiatives of international organisations like United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as well as the International Council for Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE). This qualitative content analysis of primary and secondary literature on QPE aims to provide an overview involving the role of ICSSPE as an internationally recognised organisation. Founded in 1958, its goals involve inclusive perspectives from different disciplines in sport, physical education and sport science. ICSSPE’s significant footprints on QPE are in advocacy, research, policy making and education. Since its inception, ICSSPE has sought to be an international leader in physical education and sport science in collaborative initiatives representing diverse organisational members. From a thorough perusal of the literature that has been presented, ICSSPE has made substantive footprints in policy making through its leadership and participation in formal declarations, agendas, and plans, specifically through UNESCO, IOC (International Olympic Committee), and WHO. They have also made footprints at scientific conferences in collaboration with IOC and others by hosting pre-Olympic scientific conferences, keynote speakers, and notable scientific publications involving physical education and sport, such as the Directory of Sport Science in its 6th edition, the Bulletin with 73 issues, and the Perspectives Series, 14 volumes from 1999 to present, published by Routledge. It is recommended that ICSSPE continues to discover innovative strategies that are region-specific to determine solutions that are context-specific to delivery and practice of QPE based upon core principles that have been devised by international organisations

    The article discusses a study which examined the effects of a visual skills training program on contrast sensitivity function (CSF) in selected female intercollegiate volleyball athletes at historically black colleges and universities in the U.S. Findings show that the higher the baseline CSF profile, the more likely the athlete\u27s visual system will detect contrasting stimuli in a dynamic environment.The study suggested that to improve volleyball performance effectively, it is imperative that specificity of training be used

    Results of simulation investigations of the influence of changes in the spinning zone geometry of a ring spinning machine on the tension and quality of the yarn manufactured are presented in this study. Changes in the geometry resulted from modification of the conventional drafting system into a compact drafting system. For the investigations, construction parameters of the machine and the technological process of spinning were taken into consideration. Numerical investigations were based on the mathematical model for the dynamics of yarn motion through the twisting-winding unit. Experimental tests were performed on the Polish ring spinning machine type PJ 35, equipped with a conventional drafting system and the author’s compact drafting system. It was shown that changes in the spinning zone geometry on the spinning machine caused by modification of the conventional drafting system into a compact system had no effect on the mean tension value of the yarn. Instead it diminished the amplitude of tension during the revolution around the spindle.W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań symulacyjnych wpływu zmiany geometrii strefy przędzenia na przędzarce obrączkowej, na napięcie i jakość tworzonej przędzy. Zmiana geometrii była wywołana modyfikacją klasycznego aparatu rozciągowego w kompaktowy aparat rozciągowy. W badaniach uwzględniono parametry konstrukcje maszyny i technologiczne procesu przędzenia. Eksperymenty numeryczne przeprowadzono w oparciu o model matematyczny dynamiki przędzy przemieszczającej się przez zespół skrętowo-nawojowy. Badania doświadczalne wykonano na polskiej przędzarce obrączkowej, wyposażonej w klasyczny oraz autorski kompaktowy aparat rozciągowy. Wykazano, iż zmiana w geometrii strefy przędzenia przędzarki wywołana modyfikacją klasycznego aparatu do postaci kompaktowej, nie wpłynęła na zmianę średniej wartości napięcia przędzy. Spowodowała zaś zmniejszenie amplitudy zmian chwilowego napięcia przędzy w czasie jej jednego obiegu wokół osi wrzeciona
