Vibrationally resolved partial cross sections and asymmetry parameters for carbon K-shell photoionization of the CO_2 molecule

We have measured the vibrationally resolved partial cross sections \sigma_{v_1^{\prime}} and asymmetry parameters \beta_{v_1^{\prime}} for C K-shell photoionization of the CO2 molecule in the Σu shape resonance region above the C K-shell ionization threshold. The positions of both the maxima of \sigma_{v_1^{\prime}} and the minima of \beta_{v_1^{\prime}} move towards the C K-shell threshold with increasing symmetric stretching vibrational excitation v'1 in the C 1s single-hole state. Calculations employing the relaxed-core Hartree–Fock approach reproduce the observed vibrational effects

Positive and negative ion emission from microdroplets by MeV energy ions

XXIX International Conference on Photonic, Electronic, and Atomic Collisions (ICPEAC2015): 22–28 July 2015, Toledo, SpainWe have developed a new experimental setup that allowed us to study collision interactions between fast ion beams and liquid droplets under a vacuum condition. Droplets of water and ethanol are irradiated with 0.4-1.5 MeV H+ and 2.0 MeV C2+ ions. The droplet diameter is estimated from energy loss measurements of projectile ions penetrating through droplets. Time-of-flight mass spectra of positive and negative secondary ions exhibit a series of cluster ions generated via protonation and deprotonation

Reconstructing Bohr's Reply to EPR in Algebraic Quantum Theory

Halvorson and Clifton have given a mathematical reconstruction of Bohr's reply to Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen (EPR), and argued that this reply is dictated by the two requirements of classicality and objectivity for the description of experimental data, by proving consistency between their objectivity requirement and a contextualized version of the EPR reality criterion which had been introduced by Howard in his earlier analysis of Bohr's reply. In the present paper, we generalize the above consistency theorem, with a rather elementary proof, to a general formulation of EPR states applicable to both non-relativistic quantum mechanics and algebraic quantum field theory; and we clarify the elements of reality in EPR states in terms of Bohr's requirements of classicality and objectivity, in a general formulation of algebraic quantum theory.Comment: 13 pages, Late

Endoscopic Surgery for Facial Lipoma Excision

    Get PDF
Minimally invasive endoscopic surgery in the neck, first reported by Gagner in 1996, has been adopted by a number of other surgical specialties. We have developed new techniques for performing endoscopic enucleation lipoma. Using our new techniques, various complications, such as injury to nerves and vessels, are prevented. The technique generates cosmetically satisfying results. Expansion of minimally invasive surgery into the facial area will be enhanced by the future development of instruments for this area, and decrease operating time and hospital stay
