    A proposed marketing strategy for GO2HK.COM

    Within these few years, the Internet becomes popular in the world. There are many well-known websites, such as the eBay, Amazon and Yahoo, etc.. In foreign countries, Web auction is very famous for the Internet users in foreign countries, while it is a new kind of electronic business in Hong Kong. The trend of web auction has penetrated into Hong Kong in this few years, but it is still at a growth stage of the industry life cycle. Web auction seems to be a new type of business in electronic commerce, thus it can attract the people to participate it in future. The potential market for web auction is quite large. In Hong Kong, there are four major companies that work on the business of web auction. They are the (1) Red-dots, (2) Go2hk, (3) Yahoo and (4) Clubciti. Whereas, go2hk is the smallest company in terms of company size, it is the second in terms of the number of registered users. The industry is growing rapidly and facing a keen competition. Therefore, the company needs to have good marketing mix strategies to establish its brand name. This project aims to purpose an appropriate marketing strategy of GO2HK.COM, which can allow the company to match the consumer needs with marketing strategy. Interviews are conducted and questionnaire surveys are initiated to look into the most preferable strategy for GO2HK. Before doing the questionnaire survey, we have interviewed the company, in order to identify the current marketing mix first. After that, questionnaire surveys are used to access the information about the procedure of non-users, sellers and bidders. Based on the findings, a proposed marketing strategy is recommended for go2hk. To conclude, security is the most critical aspect that both users and non-users are highly concerned

Digital cameras, camcorders, webcams, security cameras or infrared (IR) cameras are well-known imaging systems. For complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors, its performance is more promising compared to charged coupled device (CCD) due to its low power consumption, low cost, and on chip functionality and compatibility with standard CMOS technology [1]. In face recognition mode, three dimensional cameras replaced two-dimensional images to measure the object size, distance and shape with time-of-flight (TOF) cameras. Depth information can be extracted to be compared with database [2].     Heralded magnetism in non-Hermitian atomic systems

    Quantum phase transitions are usually studied in terms of Hermitian Hamiltonians. However, cold-atom experiments are intrinsically non-Hermitian due to spontaneous decay. Here, we show that non-Hermitian systems exhibit quantum phase transitions that are beyond the paradigm of Hermitian physics. We consider the non-Hermitian XY model, which can be implemented using three-level atoms with spontaneous decay. We exactly solve the model in one dimension and show that there is a quantum phase transition from short-range order to quasi-long-range order despite the absence of a continuous symmetry in the Hamiltonian. The ordered phase has a frustrated spin pattern. The critical exponent ν\nu can be 1 or 1/2. Our results can be seen experimentally with trapped ions, cavity QED, and atoms in optical lattices.Comment: 7 pages + appendi

    Emergence of Gapped Bulk and Metallic Side Walls in the Zeroth Landau level in Dirac and Weyl semimetals

    Recent transport experiments have revealed the activation of longitudinal magnetoresistance of Weyl semimetals in the quantum limit, suggesting the breakdown of chiral anomaly in a strong magnetic field. Here we provide a general mechanism for gapping the zeroth chiral Landau levels applicable for both Dirac and Weyl semimetals. Our result shows that the zeroth Landau levels anticross when the magnetic axis is perpendicular to the Dirac/Weyl node separation and when the inverse magnetic length lB1l_B^{-1} is comparable to the node separation scale Δk\Delta k. The induced bulk gap increases rapidly beyond a threshold field in Weyl semimetals, but has no threshold and is non-monotonic in Dirac systems due to the crossover between lB1>Δkl_B^{-1}>\Delta k and lB1<Δkl_B^{-1}<\Delta k regions. We also find that the Dirac and possibly Weyl systems host counterpropagating edge states between the zeroth Landau levels, leading to a state with metallic side walls and zero Hall conductance.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figure

    Entanglement tongue and quantum synchronization of disordered oscillators

    We study the synchronization of dissipatively-coupled van der Pol oscillators in the quantum limit, when each oscillator is near its quantum ground state. Two quantum oscillators with different frequencies exhibit an entanglement tongue, which is the quantum analogue of an Arnold tongue. It means that the oscillators are entangled in steady state when the coupling strength is greater than a critical value, and the critical coupling increases with detuning. An ensemble of many oscillators with random frequencies still exhibits a synchronization phase transition in the quantum limit, and we analytically calculate how the critical coupling depends on the frequency disorder. Our results can be experimentally observed with trapped ions or neutral atoms.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figure

    Design And Simulation Of Cmos-Based Bandgap Reference Voltage With Compensation Circuit Using 0.18 Μm Process Technology

    Voltage reference circuit is important in electronic world nowadays. A CMOS based bandgap reference (BGR) circuit is preferred due to its size is smaller and consume less power. However, the drawback is the reference voltage variation of CMOS based BGR circuit is big in wide range of temperature, thus the temperature coefficient of it is high. Hence, an improved version of piecewise curvature-corrected Bandgap voltage reference circuit which has low voltage variation in wide range of temperature is introduced in this project to overcome the problem mentioned above. The BGR circuit is designed using CMOS compatible process in 0.18μm CMOS process technology and simulated by using Cadence tool. The proposed piecewise curvature-corrected BGR operate properly with output voltage of 558.6 mV to 558.3 mV by varying the voltage supply 1.4 V to 3.3 V at 27°C and the line regulation is 0.016% . Besides that, the best temperature coefficient obtained is 9.2 ppm/°C in the temperature range of -25°C to 150°C at 1.8 V. The PSSR of the proposed circuit is -69.91 dB at frequency less 10 kHz. The layout design of the proposed circuit is done by using Silterra 0.18 μm standard CMOS process and total die area is 0.0175 mm2 and temperature coefficient obtained in post layout simulation is 11.66ppm/°C. In short, it is found that the proposed design of BGR circuit is able to achieve high temperature range and relatively low voltage variation

    A fuzzy clustering approach for determination of ideal points of new products

    Prior to manufacture a new products, consumers with similar purchasing attitudes are grouped into clusters of which their central points are used as ideal points for new product development. However, many clustering methods ignore the fuzziness of consumers in purchasing products or conducing survey. This paper presents a new method which integrates a fuzzy data processing technique for dimension reduction of customer attributes and a fuzzy clustering technique for grouping consumers with similar purchasing attributes. Hence, the central points of each group are treated as the ideal points for new product development. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated based on a new product design problem for new digital cameras

    The Golden Mile Complex: The Idea of Little Thailand in Singapore

    The Golden Mile Complex is one of Singapore's first shopping malls, built as part of the postcolonial government's plan to expand and redevelop the urban center. Barely a decade into its existence, Thai eateries, shops, and remittance centers sprang up at the complex, which became known as 'Little Thailand' among Singaporeans. For some Singaporeans, Little Thailand suggests the 'exotic' or 'mysterious'; for others, it is simply dirty, dangerous, and disorderly - a likely result of unflattering descriptions in official statements, press reports, and opinion pieces. This article proposes to examine Little Thailand as an idea and social construction. It explores how Singaporeans have seen Little Thailand and how they have distinguished themselves from the Oriental ‘other’ through their own cognitive, racial categories. Little Thailand expresses the experiences and values of Singaporeans more than it expresses those of Thais. By treating Little Thailand as an idea and a social construction rather than as a physical location (i.e., the Golden Mile Complex), the article uncovers a broader relationship between place, racial discourse, and public perceptions in postcolonial Singapore
