    Dark Matter in the USSM

We discuss the neutralino dark matter within classes of extended supersymmetric models, referred to as the USSM, containing one additional SM singlet Higgs plus an extra Z', together with their superpartners the singlino and bino'.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figs. Extended Hylleraas three-electron integral

A closed form expression for the three-electron Hylleraas integral involving the inverse quadratic power of one inter-particle coordinate is obtained, and recursion relations are derived for positive powers of other coordinates. This result is suited for high precision calculations of relativistic effects in lithium and light lithium-like ions.Comment: Submited to Phys. Rev.

An S4Ă—SU(5)S_4 \times SU(5) SUSY GUT of flavour in 6d

We propose a 6d model with a SUSY SU(5)SU(5) gauge symmetry. After compactification, it explains the origin of the S4S_4 Family Symmetry with CSD3 vacuum alignment, as well as SU(5)SU(5) breaking with doublet-triplet splitting. The model naturally accounts for all quark and lepton (including neutrino) masses and mixings, incorporating the highly predictive Littlest Seesaw structure. It spontaneously breaks CP symmetry, resulting in successful CP violation in the quark and lepton sectors, while solving the Strong CP problem. It also explains the Baryon Asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) through leptogenesis, with the leptogenesis phase directly linked to the Dirac and Majorana phases.Comment: 23 pages, 6 figures. v3: Version published in JHE

LHC Signatures of the Constrained Exceptional Supersymmetric Standard Model

We discuss two striking Large Hadron Collider (LHC) signatures of the constrained version of the exceptional supersymmetric standard model (cE6SSM), based on a universal high energy soft scalar mass m_0, soft trilinear coupling A_0 and soft gaugino mass M_{1/2}. The first signature we discuss is that of light exotic colour triplet charge 1/3 fermions, which we refer to as D-fermions. We calculate the LHC production cross section of D-fermions, and discuss their decay patterns. Secondly we discuss the E6 type U(1)_N spin-1 Z' gauge boson and show how it may decay into exotic states, increasing its width and modifying the line shape of the dilepton final state. We illustrate these features using two representative cE6SSM benchmark points, including an "early LHC discovery" point, giving the Feynman rules and numerical values for the relevant couplings in order to facilitate further studies.Comment: 30 pages, 5 figures, corrections to figure caption

Intense magnetic fields at 1 AU: Solar cycle 20

    Get PDF
Of the intense magnetic fields (greater than 13 gamma) observed at 1 AU during solar cycle 20 (1973-1975), 92% were associated with shocks, stream interfaces, or cold magnetic enhancements (CMEs). Most (52%) of the magnetic field intensity enhancements occurred at stream interfaces; 27% occurred behind shocks without interfaces; and 11% occurred in CMEs. The most intense fields (25 gamma to 37 gamma) followed shocks. Magnetic field intensities at interfaces did not exceed 25 gamma, suggesting a mechanism such as a magnetoacoustic wave limits the intensity ahead of streams. Intense magnetic fields persist longest behind shocks
