WHOLE FARM RISK-RATING MICROCOMPUTER MODEL
The Risk-Rating Model is designed to give extension specialists, teachers, and producers a method to analyze production, marketing, and financial risks. These risks may be analyzed either individually or simultaneously. The risk associated with each enterprise, for all combinations of enterprises, and for any combination of marketing strategies is estimated. Optimistic, expected, and pessimistic returns above variable cost and/or total cost are presented in the results. Implications of Constraints on Mass Parameters in the Higgs Sector of the Nonlinear Supersymmetric SU(5) Model
The Higgs sector of the minimal nonlinear supersymmetric SU(5) model contains
three mass parameters. Although these mass parameters are essentially free at
the electroweak scale, they might have particular values if they evolve from a
particular constraints at the GUT scale through the RG equations. By assuming a
number of simple constraints on these mass parameters at the GUT scale, we
obtain their values at the electroweak scale through the RG equations in order
to investigate the phenomenological implications. Some of them are found to be

On the Triviality of Textbook Quantum Electrodynamics
By adding a small, irrelevant four fermi interaction to the action of lattice
Quantum Electrodynamics (QED), the theory can be simulated with massless quarks
in a vacuum free of lattice monopoles. This allows an ab initio high precision,
controlled study of the existence of "textbook" Quantum Electrodynamics with
several species of fermions. The lattice theory possesses a second order chiral
phase transition which we show is logarithmically trivial. The logarithms of
triviality, which modify mean field scaling laws, are pinpointed in several
observables. The result supports Landau's contention that perturbative QED
suffers from complete screening and would have a vanishing fine structure

Strong enhancement of drag and dissipation at the weak- to strong- coupling phase transition in a bi-layer system at a total Landau level filling nu=1
We consider a bi-layer electronic system at a total Landau level filling
factor nu =1, and focus on the transition from the regime of weak inter-layer
coupling to that of the strongly coupled (1,1,1) phase (or ''quantum Hall
ferromagnet''). Making the assumption that in the transition region the system
is made of puddles of the (1,1,1) phase embedded in a bulk of the weakly
coupled state, we show that the transition is accompanied by a strong increase
in longitudinal Coulomb drag, that reaches a maximum of approximately
. In that regime the longitudinal drag is increased with decreasing

The Phase Diagram of Compact QED Coupled to a Four-Fermi Interaction
Compact lattice Quantum Electrodynamics (QED) with four species of fermions
is simulated with massless quarks by using the QED scheme of adding a
four-fermi interaction to the action. Simulations directly in the chiral limit
of massless quarks are done with high statistics on , and lattices,
and the phase diagram, parameterized by the gauge and the four-fermi couplings,
is mapped out. The line of monopole condensation transitions is separate from
the line of chiral symmetry restoration. The simulation results indicate that
the monopole condensation transition is first order while the chiral transition
is second order. The challenges in determining the Universality class of the
chiral transition are discussed. If the scaling region for the chiral
transition is sufficiently wide, the simulations predict critical
indices far from mean field values. We discuss a speculative scenario in which
anti-screening provided by double-helix strands of monopole and anti-monopole
loops are the agent that balances the screening of fermion anti-fermion pairs
to produce an ultra-violet fixed point in the electric coupling.Comment: 29 pages, 8 figures and 2 table
The Potential Trajectory of Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae, an Emerging Threat to Health-Care Facilities, and the Impact of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Toolkit.
Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE), a group of pathogens resistant to most antibiotics and associated with high mortality, are a rising emerging public health threat. Current approaches to infection control and prevention have not been adequate to prevent spread. An important but unproven approach is to have hospitals in a region coordinate surveillance and infection control measures. Using our Regional Healthcare Ecosystem Analyst (RHEA) simulation model and detailed Orange County, California, patient-level data on adult inpatient hospital and nursing home admissions (2011-2012), we simulated the spread of CRE throughout Orange County health-care facilities under 3 scenarios: no specific control measures, facility-level infection control efforts (uncoordinated control measures), and a coordinated regional effort. Aggressive uncoordinated and coordinated approaches were highly similar, averting 2,976 and 2,789 CRE transmission events, respectively (72.2% and 77.0% of transmission events), by year 5. With moderate control measures, coordinated regional control resulted in 21.3% more averted cases (n = 408) than did uncoordinated control at year 5. Our model suggests that without increased infection control approaches, CRE would become endemic in nearly all Orange County health-care facilities within 10 years. While implementing the interventions in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's CRE toolkit would not completely stop the spread of CRE, it would cut its spread substantially, by half
