    Heavy Flavor Physics through e-Science

Heavy flavor physics is an important element in understanding the nature of physics. The accurate knowledge of properties of heavy flavor physics plays an essential role for the determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix. Asymmetric-energy e+e- B factories (BaBar and Belle) run their operation and will upgrade B factories to become super Belle. The size of available B meson samples will be dramatically increased. Also the data size of Tevatron experiments (CDF, D0) are on the order of PetaByte. Therefore we use new concept of e-Science for heavy flavor physics. This concept is about studying heavy flavor physics anytime and anywhere even if we are not on-site of accelerator laboratories and data size is immense. The component of this concept is data production, data processing and data analysis anytime and anywhere. We apply this concept to current CDF experiment at Tevatron. We will expand this concept to Super Belle and LHC (Large Hadron Collider) experiments which will achieve an accuracy of measurements in the next decades.Comment: 16 pages, 2 figure

Country-Specific Experience, Host Country Government Corruption, And Outward Foreign Direct Investment By Korean Textile Firms

This study explores how organizational learning and host country government corruption influenced outward foreign direct investment by Korean textile firms between 1986 and 1995, given that foreign direct investment decisions are not made in isolation from these two factors. The results provide empirical evidence for the recent organizational learning theory argument that the longevity of country-specific experience has a curvilinear relationship with foreign direct investment. In addition, the results suggest that the positive relationship between host country government corruption and foreign direct investment is moderated by the decreasing effect of host country–specific experience over time, suggesting that a dynamic framework of organizational learning could be used to cautiously qualify the existing bifurcated positive versus negative conclusion about the government corruption–foreign direct investment relationship

A Curriculm Design for E-commerce Security

The low cost and wide availability of the Internet have revolutionized electronic commerce (e-commerce) and its applications. Security, then, has become one of the most important issues that must be resolved first to ensure its success. To protect an e-commerce system from existing threats, there must be e-commerce security experts who can help ensure its reliable deployment. This paper presents a curriculum design for e-commerce security in which the Delphi method and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method were used. The AHP method determines the priorities of the e-commerce security courses, and the results of the study provide useful guidelines in the design of the e-commerce security curriculum

The Medieval Archaeology of Korea: Its Conceptual Framework and Examples

    Get PDF
The level of research in Korean medieval archaeology is considerably low in comparison to its importance. This is inevitable since there is only a short history of research of this period. However, more fundamentally, this is due to the lack of a thorough review and assessment of the conditions and status of the Korean medieval archaeology as well as the lack of research strategies and methodologies. Under such perception, this paper aims to present the conceptual framework of Korean medieval archaeology with concrete examples. First, I determined the temporal scope of medieval archaeology and explored its characteristics. Then, based on the characteristics of material sources and written records, I discussed the specific research strategies, topics, and methodologies with actual examples. Through this, I was able to confirm that medieval archaeology has the potential to provide new perspectives and methodologies not only in Korean history but in Korean archaeological research
