A model of using social media for collaborative learning to enhance learners’ performance on learning
Social media has been always described as the channel through which knowledge is transmitted
between communities and learners. This social media has been utilized by colleges in a way to
encourage collaborative learning and social interaction. This study explores the use of social media in
the process of collaborative learning through learning Quran and Hadith. Through this investigation,
different factors enhancing collaborative learning in learning Quran and Hadith in the context
of using social media are going to be examined. 340 respondents participated in this study. The structural
equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the data obtained. Upon analysis and structural
model validities, the study resulted in a model used for measuring the influences of the different variables.
The study reported direct and indirect significant impacts of these variables on collaborative
learning through the use of social media which might lead to a better performance by learner
Classification of Qur’anic topics based on imbalanced classification
Imbalanced classification techniques have been applied widely in the field of
data mining. It is used to classify the imbalanced classes that are not equal in
the number of samples. The problem of imbalanced classes is that the
classification performance tends to the class with more samples while the
class with few samples will obtain poor performance. This problem can be
occurred in the Qur’anic classification due to the different in the number of
verses. Many studies classified Qur’anic verses, which depended on the
traditional classification. However, no study classified Qur’anic topics based
on the techniques of imbalanced classification. Therefore, this paper aims to
apply the methods of imbalanced classification as synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE), random over sample (ROS), and random
under sample (RUS) methods to classify the Qur’anic topics that are
imbalanced. Many metrics were used in this research to evaluate the
experimental results. These metrics are sensitivity/recall, specificity, overall
accuracy, f-measure, g-mean, and matthews correlation coefficient (MCC).
The results showed that the Qur’anic classification performance improved
when imbalanced classification techniques were applied
Classification of Quranic topics using ensemble learning
Abstract—the real datasets in the world usually are imbalanced; the number of samples for their classes is not equal. Classifying these datasets makes the classifiers pay attention to the class with more samples than the classes with fewer samples. The Qur’anic dataset can be considered an imbalanced dataset because verses of the Qur’anic topics are not equal. Many studies have been performed to classify Qur’anic text using different classifiers. However, few studies classified the Qur’anic verses based on Imbalanced Learning (IL). So, this work aims to classify the Qur’anic text using Ensemble methods, Boosting and Bagging. The base classifiers of these methods were LibSVM, Naïve Bayes, KNN, and J48. Three techniques are conducted in this paper based on the
standard classifiers. The three techniques are: implementing the base classifiers alone, implementing these classifiers with the Boosting method, and implementing the classifiers with the Bagging method. The results showed that the Quranic classification performance was improved when the ensemble
methods were applied for the imbalanced Qur’anic verses in the standard classifiers
Computer assisted language learning for Arabic using cognates
***** People around the world speak many different languages, some of
which extend back to hundreds or thousands of years, and these languages arose
in different ways and some of them descended from other languages. Many
languages have undergone modification that occurs naturally in any language
with time. At the same time, new languages were born from other languages,
and for sure there are large similarities between these languages, and the
similarity rate varies. Therefore, it sometimes can be more than half of the
language’s words, which are considered derived from other languages. The use
of computers in the past years has expanded greatly to be used in various
aspects of human life including learning and teaching living languages. Among
these languages, English language received a large part of this attention, while
the Arabic language received only a small part of it. In the past few years, many
programs and applications used to teach Languages, including the Arabic
language, through lessons, examples, competitions, questions and answers in
addition to educational games. While there is no program that detects words that
are similar in pronunciation and meaning between Arabic and other languages,
this process helps to accelerate learning in an easy, effective and enjoyable way.
Thus, the learner will find it easier for him to remember words with
pronunciation similar to his mother tongue. This research aims to use the
computer and information technology to accelerate the learning and teaching of
the Arabic language to non-native speakers (the English language is a model in
this research) by focusing on the similar words (cognates) between Arabic and
English, through the program, the learner will be able to create and add lessons,
then the cognates will be extracted automatically by computer. The analytical
approach will be used to study the methods and algorithms used to find
similarities between different languages, and then developing a new algorithm
to find similarities between Arabic and English languages, and this method is
considered one of the Natural Language Processing techniques
Regularized multiframe super-resolution image reconstruction using linear and nonlinear filters
The primary goal of the multiframe super-resolution image reconstruction is to produce an image with a higher resolution by integrating information extracted from a set of corresponding images with low resolution, which is used in various fields. However, super-resolution image reconstruction approaches are typically affected by annoying restorative artifacts, including blurring, noise, and staircasing effect. Accordingly, it is always difficult to balance between smoothness and edge preservation. In this paper, we intend to enhance the efficiency of multiframe super-resolution image reconstruction in order to optimize both analysis and human interpretation processes by improving the pictorial information and enhancing the automatic machine perception. As a result, we propose new approaches that firstly rely on estimating the initial high-resolution image through preprocessing of the reference low-resolution image based on median, mean, Lucy-Richardson, and Wiener filters. )is preprocessing stage is used to overcome the degradation present in the reference low-resolution image, which is a suitable kernel for producing the initial high-resolution image to be used in the reconstruction phase of the final image. then, L2 norm is employed for the data-fidelity term to minimize the residual among the predicted high-resolution image and the observed low-resolution images. Finally, bilateral total variation prior model is utilized to restrict the minimization function to a stable state of the generated HR image. )e experimental results of the synthetic data indicate that the proposed approaches have enhanced efficiency visually and quantitatively compared to other existing approaches
