Aspects of the Ayyubids Patronage of Jerusalem 583 AH/ 1187 AD - 658 AH/ 1260 AD
This paper attempts light on the role of Waqf (=endowments) in reviving life in all its aspects in Jerusalem after its liberation from the Franks by Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi 583 AH / 1187 AD. The endowments made by the Ayyubids in Jerusalem played a major and prominent role in reviving life in the city from all sides which will be clarified by reviewing some of the endowment models in this paper. We will also review the attempts aimed at liberating the Holy City and its people from the hardship and difficult circumstances they went through during the Frankish occupation to turn into a city teeming with life again, where the endowments had a crucial role in the rise of the Holy City as a center of civilization radiation. It is recommended to preserve this holy city and take responsibility for our beloved Jerusalem
The Digital Learning of Disabled Students: Perceptions of Teachers in Public Schools
The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of public-school teachers about digital learning for disabled students. The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach, using a questionnaire tailored to accomplish the studys objectives, which was developed by the researchers. A total of 124 male (55) and female (69) public-school teachers in Irbids public schools were included in the study. The outcomes of the survey revealed that public school teachers had a positive attitude toward digital learning. They also discovered statistically significant variations in the samples answers due to the variables of gender (in favor of females) and age (in favor of the age range 40-less than 50)
Lecturers’ Perceptions and Satisfaction of Employing Electronic Learning Tools at the Arab Universities During COVID-19
This study aimed to identify the trends of faculty members in Arab universities toward the use of electronic learning tools in the context of the Corona pandemic. To achieve the study objectives, the questionnaire was the main instrument for collecting study data. The study was applied to a sample consisting of (82) faculty members at Altaif University, Irbid Alahlia University and Middle East University, who were selected randomly. The results revealed that attitudes and satisfaction of faculty members in Arab universities toward the use of e-learning tools in light of the Corona pandemic were medium. Also, the results showed that there are no significant impact of gender, academic ranking and experience but there is a significant impact of the university according to the point of view of faculty members on the use of e-learning tools in Arab universities
Psychological Stability and its Relationship to Academic Performance Among Secondary School Students
This research sought to determine the relationship between psychological stability and academic performance among secondary school students in Irbid Governorate, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The descriptive analytical approach was used to achieve the goal of the study and a questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. High school pupils in the Irbid Governorate made up the studys population. By delivering an electronic questionnaire to the target population, the studys sample of (291) students were randomly selected. The results revealed that the level of psychological stability was medium with a mean score of (3.3849). The findings also indicated that psychological stability in its dimensions has a statistically significant impact on academic performance and that there is a strong positive direct association between psychological stability in its dimensions and academic performance
Awareness of sustainability issues among science education and vocational education students at the Hashemite University in Jordan : an empirical investigation
The primary purpose of this study was to assess the level of students’
awareness about sustainability issues at the Hashemite University in Jordan. A
30-item instrument, adapted from Dunkerly-Kolb (1998), was used to collect data
from a sample of 230 preservice science and vocational teachers during the
academic year 2005-2006. Results indicated that preservice science and
vocational teachers showed medium level of awareness about sustainability
issues. Additionally, results indicated that participants appeared to be
independent from their natural surroundings. The study suggested few practical
solutions for faculty members and for the university administration to incorporate
sustainability principles into university curricula.peer-reviewe
A Nonlinear Delay Model for Metabolic Oscillations in Yeast Cells
We introduce two time-delay models of metabolic oscillations in yeast cells.
Our model tests a hypothesis that the oscillations occur as multiple pathways
share a limited resource which we equate to the number of available ribosomes.
We initially explore a single-protein model with a constraint equation
governing the total resource available to the cell. The model is then extended
to include three proteins that share a resource pool. Three approaches are
considered at constant delay to numerically detect oscillations. First, we use
a spectral element method to approximate the system as a discrete map and
evaluate the stability of the linearized system about its equilibria by
examining its eigenvalues. For the second method, we plot amplitudes of the
simulation trajectories in 2D projections of the parameter space. We use a
history function that is consistent with published experimental results to
obtain metabolic oscillations. Finally, the spectral element method is used to
convert the system to a boundary value problem whose solutions correspond to
approximate periodic solutions of the system. Our results show that certain
combinations of total resource available and the time delay, lead to
oscillations. We observe that an oscillation region in the parameter space is
between regions admitting steady states that correspond to zero and constant
production. Similar behavior is found with the three-protein model where all
proteins require the same production time. However, a shift in the protein
production rates peaks occurs for low available resource suggesting that our
model captures the shared resource pool dynamics.Comment: 22 pages, 14 figures. Added analytical characterization of the
trivial equilibrium point. For the three-protein model, we now only consider
results where the protein production times are equal and added corresponding
linearized stability diagrams for this system. We also changed the history
functions for both systems to be consistent with experimental results for
obtaining metabolic oscillation
Self-Esteem and its Relationship to some Demographic Variables among Students with Learning Disabilities
This study aimed at identifying self-esteem and its relationship to some demographic variables among students with learning disabilities in Irbid, Jordan. The study used the descriptive methodology and used a scale to measure the levels of self-esteem among 2000 male and female students from the third and fourth grades in primary schools in Irbid city. The results revealed that the level of self-esteem was average. There were apparent significant differences in the levels of self- esteem due to the effect of gender, and the differences came in favor of males. The results also showed no statistically significant differences due to the effect of the school grade. In light of the results of the study, the researcher recommends raising the level of the students’ self-esteem through cooperation between school administrations, teachers, and students’ parents, and researchers conducting developmental studies, comparing levels of shyness and self-esteem among students at different ages and environments
The Jurisprudence of the Court of Cassation in Jordan: Interpreting Judicial Decisions and Case Law
In this paper, we study the role of case law as a source for legal rules, particularly in cases of ambiguity or deficiency of legislative provisions. The Jordanian Court of Cassations use of discretion to interpret or complete provisions in various cases serves as the focus of this study. Three topics are addressed: deducting blood-money from the compensation amount, nullification of a real estate sale contract after fifteen years and granting compensation for moral damage in cases of contractual liability
