    Prediction the severity of addiction based on the role of the demographic factors, history of childhood abuse, temperament dimension and emotional schemas

    Introduction: The severity of addiction is one of the important indicators in the typology, etiology and treatment of drug users. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of demographic factors (age of onset of consumption, family history), history of anxiety and psychological factors (mood and emotional schemas) in predicting the severity of addiction. Materials and Methods: Using a correlation scheme, 325 people with substance use disorder were selected in an accessible manner.We used demographic checklist, trauma history questionnaire, temperament and character inventory and emotional schemas questionnaire for gathering data. Results: Addiction severity of individuals with a history of childhood abuse was higher than individuals without these kinds of experiences. Multiple regressions showed that simplistic view about emotion, novelty seeking and acceptance of emotions explained 30 variances of addiction severity.The association between novelty seeking and acceptance of emotions with addiction severity was negative, but the association between simplistic views about emotions and addiction severity was positive. Conclusion: History of childhood abuse increase severity of addiction. Novelty seeking as a distal factor has effective on the addiction severity. Simplistic view over emotions and problems in accepting emotions were proximal psychopathological mechanisms which contribute in relapse of addiction and could be targeted in treatment of individuals with substance use disorders. © 2019, Semnan University of Medical Sciences.     Catch composition and fishing trend of kilka in Iranian part of the Caspian Sea

    Population structure of three kilka fishes (Clupeonella spp.), particularly anchovy kilka (C. engrauliformis), in Iranian waters of the Caspian Sea was surveyed in 2003. A total of 3230 biweekly samples were collected from commercially landed kilka at 3 stations in Mazandaran and Guilan provinces. Catch and effort statistics were obtained from the relevant organization. Results showed a great decline in the commercial kilka catch from 95000 tons in 1999 to 15497 tons in 2003. The contribution of anchovy kilka to the total kilka fishery also showed a decline from 71% in 1999 to 52.5% in 2003, while common kilka (C. cultriventris) increased from 13.7% in 1999 to 48.9% in 2003. Fork length range of anchovy kilka showed an increase from 89.2±12mm in 1999 to 100.4±4.9mm in 2003. The age composition of anchovy ranged between 1+ to 7+ years and the dominant group was 5+ years old (age group of 4+ and 5+ comprised 84.6% of population). The K value and L∞ calculated 0.598/year and 110.13 mm respectively. Natural, fishing and total mortality coefficient was estimated 0.69, 0.31 and 1 per year respectively.     Typology of substance use disorder based on temperament dimensions, addiction severity, and negative emotions

    Objective: Individuals with substance use disorder are not homogeneous as we might regard. Thus, this study was conducted to present a novel classification of substance use disorder based on temperament, addiction severity, and negative emotions. Method: In this correlation study, Temperament and Character Inventory, Addiction Severity Index, Aggression Subscale of MMPI-2, Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale, Emotional Schema Questionnaire, and Psychosocial Checklist were used for data collection. Results: The cluster analysis of 324 individuals with substance use disorder explored 4 subtypes. Subgroups were named based on the main features as emotionally distressed, constitutional, nonconformist, and impulsive. Significant differences were found among groups in emotional schemas, history of mental disorder in the family, rate of relapse, and history of imprisonment. Conclusion: It seemed that temperament dimensions, addiction severity, and negative emotional states were valid components in classifying individuals with substance use disorder. © 2018 Tehran University of Medical Sciences

    Suicide probability in adolescents with a history of childhood maltreatment: The role of non-suicidal self-injury, emotion regulation difficulties, and forms of self-criticism

    Background: Suicidal attempt and non-suicidal self-injury are very common in adolescents with a history of childhoodmaltreatment. By identifying correlates of these kinds of high-risk behaviors, it is possible to prevent and decrease completed suicide. Objectives: The aims of this study were: 1) to compare adolescents with a history of childhood maltreatment with non-suicidal self injury (NSSI) or past suicidal attempt in terms of suicide probability, and 2) to investigate the association between NSSI, forms of self-criticism, emotion regulation difficulties, and suicide probability. Patients and Methods: Participants were 169 adolescents living in Iranian social welfare centers who had a history of childhood maltreatment. The Suicide Probability Scale, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, Forms of Self-criticism, and the Non-Suicidal Self injury (NSSI) checklist were used for assessment. Results: Adolescents with NSSI and suicidal attempts had higher rates of suicide ideation than adolescents with NSSI-only (P < 0.05). Feelings of inadequacy, self-hatred, difficulty with impulse control, and frequency of NSSI can predict 50 variance of suicide probability (P < 0.001). Conclusions: Adolescents with histories of suicidal attempts and NSSI, compared with adolescents with NSSI-only, weremoreprone to suicide. Self-criticism, poor impulse control, and the frequency of NSSI were the main risk factors associated with suicide probability in adolescents with a history of childhood maltreatment. © 2016, Zahedan University of Medical Sciences

    Study of measuring Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) freshness using quality index method (QIM)

    Fish freshness by using QIM and according to scoring to all of parts variable (positive and negative) was by sensory method and finally become the parameters of quantitative and qualitative with statistical analysis is based, tables used in volatility score of 0 to 23, with a score of 0 to 3 respectively, for their excellent quality, 3 to 7good, from 7 to 10 and from 10 to above average evaluation is unacceptable. In this study to measure the freshness of fish species Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), black and red in 4 treatments, whole fish and empty stomach is considered and the objective of this study was to calculate the survival rate of fish in ice cover practically immediately after harvest to measure qualitative factors (sensory evaluation, chemical and microbiological).For this study 50 pieces of red and 50 pieces black Tilapia after weighed, washed and then selection 25 pieces for each treatment in unlit, ratio of 3 to 1 (ice - fish) was covered .The mean (± SD) change in temperature the fish flesh during study were between 0.2 ±0.07 a to 0.3 ±0.1a degrees Celsius, that need to raise the quality temperature is maintained at 0 degrees Celsius in unlit center. Fish covered with ice keep at ambient temperature, and after measuring the change free nitrogen, pH and microbial tests, the results showed maximum shelf life of whole fish in ice cover 9 and for empty stomach fish was7 days .And also statistical analysis (Duncan test) of data between treatments (Whole and empty fish covered in ice ) was significant (P<0.05)

    Determinants of patient satisfaction with ultrasound-assisted liposuction

    Background: Liposuction is one of the most common aesthetic procedures and a number of options are available to practitioners in terms of surgical technique. One of those options is ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL), which has garnered considerable attention in the literature and from patients themselves. Because the role of ultrasound in body sculpting is continuing to increase over time, the authors believe that a comprehensive assessment of patient satisfaction after the procedure is essential. Currently, there are very few reports in the literature examining patient satisfaction with UAL, and to the authors' knowledge, no reports in the literature have successfully outlined the determinants and predictors of long-term satisfaction with the procedure. Objective: The authors examine the correlates and predictors of patient satisfaction after UAL. Methods: The authors conducted a prospective cross-sectional study on 609 consecutive patients who underwent UAL from 2002 to 2008. One hundred and sixty (54) out of 300 patients with whom the authors could make contact agreed to answer a standardized questionnaire regarding their overall satisfaction. Results: Nearly 80 of the patients were completely or mostly satisfied with UAL. Seventy-five percent reported that they had or would recommend UAL to others. Women (P =.009), patients who did not gain weight after their UAL procedure (P <.001), patients who were content with their body appearance (P <.001), patients whose dress sizes decreased after UAL (P =.001), and patients with confidence in their body (P <.001) showed statistically significant higher rates of satisfaction with UAL. Among these correlates, confidence in body (odds ratio OR = 24.4; 95% confidence interval CI: 6.8-83.3) and contentment with body appearance (OR = 5.5; 95% CI: 1.5-19.4) were found to be reliable independent predictors of patient satisfaction. Conclusion: Most patients were satisfied with UAL, but certain patient responses were more highly correlated with overall satisfaction than others and therefore can be considered predictors of long-term patient satisfaction with this procedure. The results of this study may provide plastic surgeons with valuable clues that can enhance preoperative planning and therefore enable further improvement of patients' satisfaction with UAL. © 2010 The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Inc

    Study on the possibility of producing low-fat spread using gelatin extracted from cultured carp wastes

    By-products consist of more than half of the total weight of fish. Most part of these wastes made from connective tissue proteins that provide good potential to produce gelatin. Nowadays, consumers are more health conscious and have responded to the call for a diet that contains low calorie and low fat. This work involved the characterization of a low-fat spread made of fish gelatin as gelling agent, emulsifier and fat replacer. Six treatments with Fish gelatin (FG) to pectin ratio 1:1 and 2:1, with pectin concentration of 1, 2 and 3%, were produced and evaluated for quality changes and storage-life at refrigerated storage. The results showed that prepared emulsions were physically stable and no phase separation observed during 8 wks. The pH of treatments was 4.5 to 4.9. The moisture content of treatments varied from 68.9% for T1 (FG/pectin ratio 1:1) to 65.4% for T6 (FG/pectin ratio 6:3). The Max. lipid of samples was measured 28.4%. Max. and min. protein of samples were 3.8% for T6 and 1.6% for T2 (FG/pectin ratio 2:1), respectively. No significant differences (p≥0.05) were observed between ash content of all treatments and control (commercial margarin). The acidity of treatments increased during storage and were significantly different from production day (p≤0.05). Peroxide value (PV) of treatments increased significantly at refrigerated storage. No significant differences were observed between PV of treatments during different wks of sampling. The results of texture profile analysis showed that firmness, compressibility and adhesiveness properties were significantly increase with higher substitution of FG with pectin. Color, Aroma, Taste and texture properties of prepared samples were found to significantly lower than control, according to sensory evaluation. Significant increases were observed in mold/yeast and psychrophilic count of treatments during storage. The macroscopic growth of molds was observed on all samples in 8th wks. No coliform growth was observed in all treatments at any time. Results suggest that low-fat spread properties were significantly influenced by different ratios of fish gelatin and pectin incorporated. It seems that these results can provide new opportunities to develop market with introducing novel products to response consumer demands. Some quality defects observed in this study can be improved by using suitable machinery at industrial scale

    Study of some biological characteristics of golden grey mullet (Liza aurata) in Iranian Coastal waters of the Caspian Sea

    During last 65 years the catch of mullets had increasing trends with some fluctuations in the Iranian coastal water of the Caspian Sea .In this period about 138 thousand tons of mullets have been caught. Mullet’s account for 35% of total catch annually .In recent years species composition of mullets has chanched in the Iranian coastal water of the Caspian Sea and catch composition of golden grey mullet increased from 76% in 1995 to 98% in 2006. In this survey some biological characteristics of golden grey mullet have been studied in Iranian coastal water of the Caspian Sea .Fish samples have been gathered from commercial catch of beach seine cooperatives monthly in Iranian coastal water of the Caspian Sea over 2006 and 2007. In the laboratory fishes have been measured biometrically and biological parameters have been calculated .Also catch statistics of mullets during 2006-2007 have been obtained and discussed. Results showed that the catch of mullets in beach seine cooperatives during 2006 and 2007 was 4181 and 3685 tons respectively that golden grey mullet contribute 99% and 98% of the catch composition of mullets respectively. Length range of golden grey mullet caught by beach seine cooperatives was 19-50.2 cm with mean length of 32.7 ± 6.4 (± SD) and weight range was 67-1475 gr with mean weight of 411 ± 255 gr. The age structure of this species was comprised 2-10 years old fish with mean age of 4.42 years old. In this survey totally the sex ratio of male: female of golden grey mullet was 356: 434 that was significant variation from equal sex ratio. Pick of the spawning in Guilan province was in October and in Mazandaran and Golestan provinces was in November. In October the proportion of spawning females declined from western area (Guilan province) towards eastern parts (Golestan province).The highest proportion of spawning females was in December in Golestan province. The highest GSI index value was observed in September and October and it was decreased in November and December and it was consistent during January till April. The mean absolute fecundity was 700881±429987 eggs with minimum and maximum fecundity of 200112 and 2282862 eggs respectively. The Lm 50% for female golden grey mullet was calculated as 33.6 cm

    Abrams brama distribution in the Caspian and most of it is in the Anzali lagon. Completed in the rivers to spawn or hibernate done, hibernation mass takes place in the well of the rivers, which feed the crustaceans, mollusks and aquatic insects are born. This fish is almost vertical and is able to search for food in the mud in shallow waters and residents due to competition for food with other species of plankton and plants inevitably feed. This fish has an economic value and good taste for meat consumption has become common. Fish patty prepared food that is easy to cook and good demand. The benefits of fish patty are the most of fresh fish, good use of raw materials, availability of several species of fish in the product, socio-economic benefits for fishermen and fishing industry, product nutritional value and high in protein rejection. Fish Protein Concentrate is a healthy food products, durable and of high nutritional value of fish and hygienic manner in which the protein and other nutrients found in fresh fish and more compact than the long-term maintenance and diverse the second is for the production of food products. The study aimed at producing FPC type A string of fish, fish cakes prepared by the FPC obtained and reviewed the nutritional value, acceptance and endurance cookies generated at room temperature for one month . After examination of the nutritional value, shelf-life tests using factors of corruption, TVB-N, pH, TBArs and sensory tests showed that the most important indicator of the value of food, especially protein product treatments with better FPC and the factors corruption is not much difference between 5% FPC and blank treatment. The final product is important in terms of nutritional value and shelf life, group 2 has a significant difference with other treatments and the final product can be made on the basis of treatment 2
