    Differential Image Compression for Telemedicine: A Novel Approach

    Telemedicine is one of the most emerging technologies of applied medical sciences. Medical information related to patients is transmitted and stored for references and consultations. Medical images occupy huge space; in order to transmit these images may delay the process of image transmission in critical times. Image compression techniques provide a better solution to combat bandwidth scarcity problems, and transmit same image in a much lower bandwidth requirements, more faster and at the same time maintain quality. In this paper a differential image compression method is developed in which medical images are taken from a wounded patient and are compressed to reduce the bit rate of these images. Results indicate that on average 25% compression on images is achieved with 3.5 MOS taken from medical doctors and other paramedical staff the ultimately user of the images

    Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI7) is a very powerful imaging technique for the assessment of strokeĀ aetiology (Condition) and brain imaging. Another class of MRI is ultrahigh frequency based MRI using 7Ā Tesla is now developed by seamenā€™s for better imaging in humans. This study examines these MRI. Thisarticle highlights an alternative approach, denoted ā€œinterval monitoring,ā€ whose aims is related with moreĀ timely detection of tumor cancer changes. The conceptual background and the computational realizationĀ of the proposed method are outlined, and its application is illustrated by an empirical example from theĀ image-based photo science, cancer registry of America. Monitoring of cancer patient survival is the firstĀ step of its cure so across the globe practice routinely employed by many cancer registries, which is anĀ essential component for its cure. However, changes in prognosis over time are disclosed withconsiderable delay, with traditional methods of monitoring cumulative survival. Our study took sequenceĀ of MRI images, GMPLS function locate the cancer after filtering and skeletonization. This study savesĀ time and difference for calculation of cancer equation. This study uses statistical technique to get theĀ desired matrix, further its inverse provides us real time mathematical equation which is unique for eachĀ patient. Further survivor analysis is employed to achieve the break or death of subject.     Socio-Psychological Effects of Emigration on Left Behind Women in Buner

    The present study was conducted to ascertain the socio- psychological effects of emigration on left behind families in district Buner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The data was collected from 367 sampled respondents, which were selected from four union councils of four tehsils of district Buner. The data was analyzed by using simple percentages and frequency. The chi- square statistics was used to determine association between independent and dependent variables. The study concluded that wives of emigrants faces loneliness; there was more tension in left behind families; basic needs like emotional needs were not fulfilled; conflict has been develop between spouses; emigration of husband force wives to leave the houses for buying of daily needs, goods; in laws start interference and objections on female outside activities. Moreover, the rate of divorce has not been increased after emigration; emigrantā€™s wives were discriminated by in laws. It is recommended that migrant should increase visiting home or shift their family to abroad to reduce tensions and conflict

    Health risks assessment diagnosis of toxic chemicals (heavy metals) via food crops consumption irrigated with wastewater

    The present study investigated the concentration of metals in commonly grown vegetables (Luffa acutangula L., Zea mays L., Solanum melongena L.) irrigated with waste water in District Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The pH (5.80) and electrical conductivity (13 dS/m) of waste water indicated the acidic nature that is not suitable for irrigation purposes. Soil and vegetables samples were analyzed for metals concentration through flame atomic absorption spectrometry (Varian FAAS-240). The findings showed that waste water irrigated soil was highly contaminated with Cd (4.62 mg/kg) which was above permissible limits set by European Union Standard (EU 2006, 2002). The concentrations of heavy metals such as Cr and Cd in vegetables were higher than the permissible limits set by World Health Organization/Food and Agriculture Organization U.S.A guidelines 2001. The health hazard quotient (HQ) of waste water irrigated vegetables was observed higher for Ni (0.699-0.1029 mg/kg), (0.0456-0.1040 mg/kg), (0.731-0.0994 mg/kg) in Luffa acutangula, Solanum melongena and Zea mays, respectively. The study concluded that the consumption of commonly grown vegetables in waste water zone of the study area may pose potential health threats in local population

    THE INTERCONNECTIONS OF GREEN MOTIVES AND CORPORATE SOCIAL PERFORMANCE: THE MEDIATING ROLE OF GREEN PRACTICES

    This research aims to explore the impact of green motives (GM) on Corporate Social Performance (CSP) through green practices (GP) in the hotel industry. Data was collected from the 250 executives and other members of senior management who were involved in the management decision making directly or indirectly. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique was applied through Smart-PLS version 3.2.8. Subsequently, results proved that green motives have a positive association with green practices and CSP. Green practices mediated the relationship between green motive and CSP.ƂĀ  This research isolates itself from the previous ones in this area by integrating the literature of green motives and corporate social performance that how green practices intercede this relationship in the context of the hotel industry. In the hotel industry, owners/managers should focus on green motives and must consider them to keep their stakeholders interested and motivated. This study guides management in practice that how to satisfy their customers timely through the green process and build a strong foundation for CSP. This is quantitative research based on cross-sectional data and has been conducted in Pakistan

    End stage renal disease: Seroprevalence of hepatitises B and C along with associated aetiology and risk factors in children

    Background: End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) normally requires dialysis or transplantation for survival. Since ESRD patients are on long term dialysis, infections such as Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) are commonly reported.Methods: This was a retrospective study carried out at a government hospital during a 12-month period from January 2013 to December 2013. The data was collected using a predesigned pro forma to note the etiology, gender, age, and HBsAg and anti-HCV test result of each patient.Results: 444 children suffering from ESRD were included in our analysis. The mean age of sample was 12.7 Ā± 4.1 years. Sixty percent (n = 262) of the children were boys. The most common etiology of ESRD was kidney stones (n = 44, 29.3%). HBV was positive in 11 children (2.5%) while HCV was positive in 13 (2.9%).Conclusion: This study asserts the need for carrying out further work to confirm these findings and expand our recommendations. It is imperative to reliably determine the burden of HBV and HCV disease and to determine the aetiology of their spread especially in children with ESRD

    Patterns of Motorbike Accidents Related Head Injuries in Patients Presenting to a Tertiary Care Hospital of Peshawar

    Objective: To determine the different patterns of motorbike related head injuries in patients presenting to a tertiary care hospital of Peshawar.Materials and Methods: It was a prospective (observational) study, which was conducted at the Neurotrauma ward of Neurosurgery department, Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar from January 2016 to June 2016. Total number of patients were 246. We included those patients who were having impaired Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), danger signs and having some abnormal findings on CT brain. We excluded those patients who were having GCS 15/15 and those patients of head injury having associated co-morbid conditions.Results: There were 230 (93.49%) males and 16 (6.5%) females. Age range was 1 to 80 years. Majority of pati-ents were drivers (55.28%). Only 6 (2.43%) drivers used helmet. Ninety patients (36.58%) had an ICU stay of more than one week. Seventy six (30.89%) patients were operated and 170 (69.1%) patients were treated con-servatively. Mortality was 14.63% in our study.Conclusion: Majority were males in our study, most of the patients who sustained head injury in motorbike accidents were drivers. Thirty six percent of the patients needed ICU stay of more than 1 week. Maximum of the patients needed conservative treatment

    Robust estimation based nonlinear higher order sliding mode control strategies for PMSG-WECS

    The wind energy conversion systems (WECS) suffer from an intermittent nature of source (wind) and the resulting disparity between power generation and electricity demand. Thus, WECS are required to be operated at maximum power point (MPP). This research paper addresses a sophisticated MPP tracking (MPPT) strategy to ensure optimum (maximum) power out of the WECS despite environmental (wind) variations. This study considers a WECS (fixed pitch, 3KW, variable speed) coupled with a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) and proposes three sliding mode control (SMC) based MPPT schemes, a conventional first order SMC (FOSMC), an integral back-stepping-based SMC (IBSMC) and a super-twisting reachability-based SMC, for maximizing the power output. However, the efficacy of MPPT/control schemes rely on availability of system parameters especially, uncertain/nonlinear dynamics and aerodynamic terms, which are not commonly accessible in practice. As a remedy, an off-line artificial function-fitting neural network (ANN) based on Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is employed to enhance the performance and robustness of MPPT/control scheme by effectively imitating the uncertain/nonlinear drift terms in the control input pathways. Furthermore, the speed and missing derivative of a generator shaft are determined using a high-gain observer (HGO). Finally, a comparison is made among the stated strategies subjected to stochastic and deterministic wind speed profiles. Extensive MATLAB/Simulink simulations assess the effectiveness of the suggested approaches

    Technical investigation on V2G, S2V, and V2I for next generation smart city planning

    The paper investigates a few of the major areas of the next generation technological advancement, ā€œsmart city planning conceptā€. The areas that the paper focuses are vehicle to grid (V2G), sun to vehicle (S2V), and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I). For the bi-directional crowd energy single entity concept, V2G and building to grid (B2G) are the primary parts of distributed renewable generation (DRG) under smart living. This research includes an in-depth overview of this three major areas. Next, the research conducts a case analysis of V2G, S2V, and V2I along with their possible limitations in order to find out the novel solutions for future development both for academia and industry levels. Lastly, few possible solutions have been proposed to minimize the limitations and to develop the existing system for future expansion
