Elliptic flow in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV
The angular correlations measured in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV are
decomposed into contributions from back to back emission and elliptic flow.
Modeling the dominant term in the correlation functions as a momentum
conservation effect or as an effect of the initial transverse velocity of the
source, the remaining elliptic flow component can be estimated. The elliptic
flow coefficient extracted from the CMS Collaboration data is 0.04-0.08. No
additional small-angle, ridge-like correlations are needed to explain the
experimental data
Addendum to: Search for anomalous top-gluon couplings at LHC revisited
In our latest paper "Search for anomalous top-gluon couplings at LHC
revisited" in Eur. Phys. J. C65 (2010), 127-135 (arXiv:0910.3049 [hep-ph]), we
studied possible effects of nonstandard top-gluon couplings through the
chromoelectric and chromomagnetic moments of the top quark using the total
cross section of ppbar/pp --> ttbar X at Tevatron/LHC. There we pointed out
that LHC data could give a stronger constraint on those two parameters, which
would be hard to obtain from Tevatron data alone. We show here the first CMS

D meson nuclear modification factors in Pb-Pb collisions at {\surd}sNN = 2.76 TeV, measured with the ALICE detector
The ALICE experiment has measured the D meson production in pp and Pb-Pb
collisions at the LHC at {\surd}s = 7 and 2.76 TeV and {\surd}sNN = 2.76 TeV
respectively, via the exclusive reconstruction of hadronic decay channels. The
analyses of the D0{\to}K-pi+ and D+{\to}K-pi+pi+ channels will be described and
the preliminary results for the D0 and D+ nuclear modification factor will be

Generalized thermodynamic uncertainty relations
We analyze ensemble in which energy (E), temperature (T) and multiplicity (N)
can all fluctuate and with the help of nonextensive statistics we propose a
relation connecting all fluctuating variables. It generalizes Lindhard's

Extraction of Beam-Spin Asymmetries from the Hard Exclusive π⁺ Channel Off Protons in a Wide Range of Kinematics
We have measured beam-spin asymmetries to extract the sinϕ moment ALUsinϕ from the hard exclusive e→p → e\u27nπ+ reaction above the resonance region, for the first time with nearly full coverage from forward to backward angles in the center of mass. The ALUsinϕ moment has been measured up to 6.6 GeV2 in -t, covering the kinematic regimes of generalized parton distributions (GPD) and baryon-to-meson transition distribution amplitudes (TDA) at the same time. The experimental results in very forward kinematics demonstrate the sensitivity to chiral-odd and chiral-even GPDs. In very backward kinematics where the TDA framework is applicable, we found ALUsinϕ to be negative, while a sign change was observed near 90° in the center of mass. The unique results presented in this Letter will provide critical constraints to establish reaction mechanisms that can help to further develop the GPD and TDA frameworks
The fine-tuning price of the early LHC
LHC already probed and excluded half of the parameter space of the
Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model allowed by previous
experiments. Only about 0.3% of the CMSSM parameter space survives. This
fraction rises to about 0.9% if the bound on the Higgs mass can be

Analyses of multiplicity distributions with \eta_c and Bose-Einstein correlations at LHC by means of generalized Glauber-Lachs formula
Using the negative binomial distribution (NBD) and the generalized
Glauber-Lachs (GGL) formula, we analyze the data on charged multiplicity
distributions with pseudo-rapidity cutoffs \eta_c at 0.9, 2.36, and 7 TeV by
ALICE Collaboration and at 0.2, 0.54, and 0.9 TeV by UA5 Collaboration. We
confirm that the KNO scaling holds among the multiplicity distributions with
\eta_c = 0.5 at \sqrt{s} = 0.2\sim2.36 TeV and estimate the energy dependence
of a parameter 1/k in NBD and parameters 1/k and \gamma (the ratio of the
average value of the coherent hadrons to that of the chaotic hadrons) in the
GGL formula. Using empirical formulae for the parameters 1/k and \gamma in the
GGL formula, we predict the multiplicity distributions with \eta_c = 0.5 at 7
and 14 TeV. Data on the 2nd order Bose-Einstein correlations (BEC) at 0.9 TeV
by ALICE Collaboration and 0.9 and 2.36 TeV by CMS Collaboration are also
analyzed based on the GGL formula. Prediction for the 3rd order BEC at 0.9 and
2.36 TeV are presented. Moreover, the information entropy is discussed
Differential Cross Section for γ d →ωd Using CLAS at Jefferson Lab
The cross section for coherent ω-meson photoproduction off the deuteron has been measured for the first time as a function of the momentum transfer t=(Pγ−Pω)2 and photon energy Eγ using the CLAS detector at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. The cross sections are measured in the energy range 1.4 γ\u3c3.4 GeV. A model based on ω−N rescattering is consistent with the data at low and intermediate momentum transfer, |t|. For 2.8 γ\u3c3.4 GeV, the total cross-section of ω−N scattering, based on fits within the framework of the Vector Meson Dominance model, is in the range of 30–40 mb
Overview of experimental results in PbPb collisions at sqrt{s_NN} = 2.76 TeV by the CMS Collaboration
The CMS experiment at the LHC is a general-purpose apparatus with a set of
large acceptance and high granularity detectors for hadrons, electrons, photons
and muons, providing unique capabilities for both proton-proton and ion-ion
collisions. The data collected during the November 2010 PbPb run at sqrt{s_NN}
= 2.76 TeV was analyzed and multiple measurements of the properties of the hot
and dense matter were obtained. Global event properties, detailed study of jet
production and jet properties, isolated photons, quarkonia and weak bosons were

First Measurement of Ξ− Polarization in Photoproduction
Despite decades of studies of the photoproduction of hyperons, both their production mechanisms and their spectra of excited states are still largely unknown. While the parity-violating weak decay of hyperons offers a means of measuring their polarization, which could help discern their production mechanisms and identify their excitation spectra, no such study has been possible for doubly strange baryons in photoproduction, due to low production cross sections. However, by making use of the reaction γ p → K+K+Ξ−, we have measured, for the first time, the induced polarization, P, and the transferred polarization from circularly polarized real photons, characterized by Cx and Cz, to recoiling Ξ−s. The data were obtained using the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) at Jefferson Lab for photon energies from just over threshold (2.4 GeV) to 5.45 GeV. These first-time measurements are compared, and are shown to broadly agree, with model predictions in which cascade photoproduction proceeds through the decay of intermediate hyperon resonances that are produced via relativistic meson exchange, offering a new step forward in the understanding of the production and polarization of doubly strange baryons
